Ran my first marathon sat. 6 hours, 40 min. I was best friends with the sag wagon. Lol. But I denied help and I did it! Very happy. It was hard mentally because water stations were packing up and people long gone. I felt like they gave up on me. But I couldn't give up on myself.
I came across this video right after I ran my first 10k. I was awe-struck by the runners who had completed 26.2 miles, a distance I could not fathom running. But it planted a seed deep in my heart which came into bloom a few years later. Running Boston was absolutely the best experience ever!
great video. I know the feeling of both being insanely excited and exhausted at the finish line. I've only done 1 marathon so far, but hopefully I'll be able to experience that feeling again.
I think there are a lot of people that watch this and just don't understand running.Understand one thing about a Marathon. It's all in the training, in the mindset, and the Wall. Every marathon run is different for everyone, just like every run we take is a little different. There are bad days, awesome days, and so-so days. The Wall presents something else entirely, sometimes it's just a passing nudge, other times its an all-out war that some people don't recover from.
Don't let the comments get you down Nickuncle.. its the internet so many people talk as if they know anything when they don't.. or they just try to troll and fail at it..
This was footage from the 2011 marathon. Boston is a tough course on the body because of the location of the hills along it. The runners are collapsing because they are spent from the effort to run it.
@tripleMmagic You have to run a qualifying marathon in a certain time limit for your age and gender. One of the challenges that Boston presents is that you train your butt off to meet a time limit... and then you have to continue to train for Boston, which is one of the more difficult marathons in the US.
Holy crap... I don't think I could ever do a full on marathon... I'm considering to make my goal the half marathon but I think I will definitely stick with doing a much shorter one before that time comes!
It'll be one of the best feelings you'll experience. The irony in that statement will be obvious with how your body feels after. Don't rethink, just do.
This was kind of like our xc race.. yeah it's like 23 miles shorter.. but man we go hard! plus i ran with a torn hip, so i had people at the finish waiting to catch me.
I ran for 2 hrs and my legs turned into spaghetti. Then when I finally reached home to the verge of collapse my dad asked me why I do this to myself and if I have that much energy to wash the dishes lol. I should do a marathon...
LOL, are you a runner (I am kind of thinking you are not)? Have you ever done a race? If not I suggest you try it. I started doing 5ks then I built myself up to 10ks ( that is 6. 2 miles) and half marathons (13.1 miles, which by the way are rough). I stuck though with it though and just finished my first marathon (26.2 miles,Santa Barbara) last month. Anyhow, good luck just keep trying and you will get there one day.
well wish me luck, im running a half marathon and another 5k race on top of that in the same day! half starts at 7 am, 5k starts at noon, btw im a long distance runner, my PB for a 10km race (ive never ran a half before but ive ran 10km races) 29:44, so even if i take 4 hours to finish 21.1 km, ill still have time to make it to the start line of the 5k, but it def wont take me 4 hours, im giving myself 2 hours just to be safe, but if i can run 29:44 10km race, i think i could be done 1 hour 30 maybe earliar, i have been training, and in 2 weeks will be my first half marathon race, in 3 years ive ran a total of 53 races all of them were 10km's except for 1 5k race i did for fun
Between 3hours50 and 4hours.I won't put the exact time as is on the website and I'm paranoid.Anyway first marathon done Brighton.Last 3hours was total hell.Worth it though.
just work you way up if you go from 0 miles to 10k then your legs will may buckle at the end it depends on what your are like before it too. remember everyone is different and you might not even have a problem at all.
I might suggest that you skip half marathons and do a marathon first. I know the idea sounds crazy. But, if you're to do a half marathon, and not personally enjoy it, you'll question whether you want to times that distance by 2, but if you do a marathon of that bat, you won't question it, at least not till you're already in the race :-) (My first race ever was a marathon in May 2011. I've done 8 more since) Best of luck!
I ran my first one last year. Before that marathon I ran a 10 mile tough middle, a half marathon, a 20 mile marathon, and followed a marathon running plan. It was very gradual but well worth it
I've got a 10k coming up and all my track races that I do. I would consider myself a one-miler. I'm hoping to break 5 minutes within a month or two. We'll see. I've been having some slight pains. What about you, dude?
Yea I was saying that for the kg guy. Don't worry it gets to me too. Sadly the best thing to do is either don't read the comments all that much or go to a different video website that is like youtube because if you stay around all this negative shit it can get to you and effect you. Remember the old hanging around the bad crowd thing when your little. Thats what I least notice happen to be without even wanting it too. You might be different though :). On the side note any races planned bro?
Just finished my first marathon the other day, u guys may have heard of it. It's the run with Donna marathon for breast cancer. Ime 17 and I did o.k 3:28. But I have to tell you, out of all of the races I have done, xc, Ragnar relays from Miami to key west, half marathons, 10ks . That was perhaps the most memorable run I have ever done. Teared us at the finish line lol
This reminds me of my first half marathon. I got three steps past the finish line and then fainted. Next thing I remembered was arguing with a doctor saying "YOU WILL NOT put an IV in me until I get that finisher medal!!"
What do you mean? Did you mean to respond to my other comment when I was talking to that jackass kg? And thanks for the support man. You're right. It's just really hard because I runs a lot competitively.
To much hoopla?! These people are running 26.2 miles..... I guarantee you that over 70% of the people in the world couldn't run just 5 miles let alone 26.2, every one who trains that hard and works to achieve that goal deserves all that "hoopla" I'm currently training to run a marathon, I'm curious have you ever run one? Or even a half marathon?
anyone else witness all the assaults at the finish line in this video??? if you have no idea what im talking about then keep watching people crawling across finish line videos

I love this

Only runners can fully appreciate the beauty of this video KEEP RUNNING!!!
rubut true
The last two finishers in the video!!! So awesome!!
shows the incredible determination that these runners have, huge respect.
I made it in this video. Great to see it again. Ran my PR that still stands today. What an awesome day that was and I can't wait to run Boston again.
It might surprise you how achievable this is to most people depending on your dedication and health…
It is not finish line or even the race itself, it's all you put prior to the event that drives 99% poeple away from doing it.
@@gallagherii Yes... it's the months/years of running, training, eating right, etc.
This video inspires me before EVERY race!!!! Thank you so much...
this made me tear up. fucking hugest respect in the whole world.
I just finished my own first marathon today all by my self. I feel for all those people
goddamn. freaking congratulations.
Running this race is on my bucket list.
Love it!! Can't wait to be crossing that finish line at Boston... :)
Fantastic! Very realistic the way a lot of runs finish. Cross the line and have a sweet collapse.
Never give up! That's some sweet mentality you've got, be proud!
I think the music makes this video all the more better.
great video. I know the feeling of both being insanely excited and exhausted at the finish line. I've only done 1 marathon so far, but hopefully I'll be able to experience that feeling again.
There is no greater accomplishment, Amazing!
Amazing video! Please upload more of such videos!
Will do, going down to Brighton tomorrow will stay over night then the pain starts Sunday morning 9pm British standard time. Thanks for your interest.
This looks so fun!
1:24 is me after a 5k...
That‘s me after 2k😔
It's so exciting. Makes me want to cry.
Never give up! Never give in! Congrats!!!
My first marathon is April 22nd at Lansing and I am planning on crossing then doing some pushups
I haven’t been able to run a marathon yet because of certain injuries but I will run a marathon when it’s better!

Beautiful to watch for us runners :)
beautiful
I have only conquered the Half Marathon but, i know the feeling. I could'nt imagine doing that distance twice until I do it.
This was footage from the 2011 marathon. Boston is a tough course on the body because of the location of the hills along it. The runners are collapsing because they are spent from the effort to run it.
Great video !
anything sub 3;30 is great. i recently pulled off a 3;11 marathong but the boston qualifying race is next week. i hope i can pull off a 3;05

Pov: This randomly got recomended to you
Please let me know about the music, 🙏 please!
Are you not watching the same video?
I love running in marathons. :)

Does anyone know the symphony?
it is when you race it.
I ran for 2 hrs and my legs turned into spaghetti. Then when I finally reached home to the verge of collapse my dad asked me why I do this to myself and if I have that much energy to wash the dishes lol. I should do a marathon...

I want to feel this.
Bravo!
solo hay q ver lo que cuesta hacer una maraton!!
Limits of humane boundaries...............

now im rethinking trying to run a marathon...
must... go... run...!!
You have to finish a marathon to know exactly what all these people are feeling.
just work you way up if you go from 0 miles to 10k then your legs will may buckle at the end it depends on what your are like before it too. remember everyone is different and you might not even have a problem at all.
It's really hard. For me it was hardest to not throw up and walk straight. I really felt like I was about to puke.
I want to do this eventually. How many "practice" marathons do you run in your neighborhood before you do your first real marathon?
I ran my first one last year. Before that marathon I ran a 10 mile tough middle, a half marathon, a 20 mile marathon, and followed a marathon running plan. It was very gradual but well worth it
what is the song name?
I want to do a marathon. Building myself up with half marathons first.
How do you qualify for the Boston marathon?
www.baa.org/races/boston-marathon/qualify
all im thinking is if some of those people had energy to do cartwheels and pushups etc over the finish line surely they couldve got a quicker time...
That is the exact reason why you will be one of those people falling on the ground.
You know what they say about critics? They are people who can't do it, or tried to do it, and failed.
I've got a 10k coming up and all my track races that I do. I would consider myself a one-miler. I'm hoping to break 5 minutes within a month or two. We'll see. I've been having some slight pains. What about you, dude?

On the side note any races planned bro?
@fortworthgary
You'll do great! As soon as you cross the line, you'll start planning your next one.
@kg062007 obviously you've never ran a marathon. Try it sometime.
Just finished my first marathon the other day, u guys may have heard of it. It's the run with Donna marathon for breast cancer. Ime 17 and I did o.k 3:28. omg! I want to do this!!!!
Worried now 2012 15th April I entred as a joke and got a place.Training is going OK though.
ah yes, the 2011 Boston Marathon, very wind assisted and the first place time would have been a world record
Yes!!! MacGruber at 0:37
Why would you put your country's flag on the floor?
Boston?, no Brightion, UK fella. Did it in just over 3hours so happy.Never been to the USA yank.Sorry.
hahaah this is hilarious to watch, but honestly well done to them all.
they are pushing themselves bro
0.08 tat guy doing sub3 n still got time doing push up...sub4 this coming run
it takes WAYYY less then 8 minute miles to qualify for boston unless you are like 60 years old
I see myself here... at second 21-22 (the guy wearing orange)....
@kg062007 if you were a runner you wouldnt be confused
Just finish.
What is wrong with them? They are all falling down. 🤔
cause a marathon is long and alot of people collapse cause they are done and cant stand lol
But i see under 2.45 omg !
What do you mean? Did you mean to respond to my other comment when I was talking to that jackass kg? And thanks for the support man. You're right. It's just really hard because I runs a lot competitively.
Not a yank, from Canada :P
Why do You start on the maraton od You cant do IT???????!!!!!
this is probably the worst music choice for a videoclip !!! i saw this videoclip in mute
No, good music. It shows how wonderful it is!
0:35 haha lol
She loves him so much. XD
This is pathetic... How are they collapsing when they only ran 26.2 miles?!? Seriously... These people need to get in better shape.
Tell me you're joking...
Thank you medical help.
To much hoopla?! These people are running 26.2 miles..... hm? If you qualified for Boston then you are already fit enough. Sounds like a fake story to me.
It means that you didn't push hard enough in practice, that is why you will never be a consistent winner :-)
