- Bei einer Erkundung des kretischen Südwestens, stossen wir zufällig auf einen regelrechten Traumstrand. Weiss-rosa Sand, türkisfarbenes Wasser in allen Schattierungen, Tamarisken bis fast ans Ufer, herrlich!
Unmittelbar der Küste vorgelagert ist eine kleine Insel, sie heisst, wie wir später erfahren, Elafonisi. Durch eine seichte Stelle waten wir hinüber, finden auch hier, neben schroffem Fels, wunderschöne Strände und Dünen.
Die meiste Zeit sind wir hier alleine, doch nach drei Tagen veranlasst uns der zunehmend starke Westwind, diesen paradiesischen Platz zu verlassen.

I stayed in Crete for many months in the 70's. Life was different back then. The memories I have from that time are my most cherished. Thank you for these wonderful Super 8 clips.

was in souda bay (USN) 1978 to 1980 - Had a VW Van too - traveled the entire island many times. great memories back then.
my family go camping from 1983-1993 here...isolation with a dacia and camp, water from 30km....
You parked on my private Parking space! I used that about 2 months of my live in the 1970ties.
It was a paradise and i had a good time there, even the beach alone for more than a week .
Its a nightmare to see what it is today.
I am so happy to still know paradises like that today but its a long trip to go there...

The most beautiful beaches of whole island are Balos and Falasarna.Elafonissi beach is smaller copya of Balos.
