So, basically how this went down was that back at MAGFest, Wayne was like, "Yo, Jake, I need you to do some crazy hard core metal for me." And I was like, "Aight. I can do that." And a few months later Wayne sent me the first half of the song, orchestrated and sounding beautiful, and I proceeded to infuse the piece with the heaviest of metals.
But in actuality, the reason we did this piece is because Lauren Henry, being the amazing person she is, was the top backer of the Twilight Symphony Choir Kickstarter. One of the awards for doing so was being able to produce a piece of their choice via Zelda Reorchestrated. Lauren chose her song, and Wayne enlisted my help, and here it is. :) Lauren, I know you gave me permission to upload the song to my channel, so I hope you really like the video!! :D And for everyone else, enjoy!

This is perfect. I liked how you put the pigmasks theme in the song.
If this were in the soundtrack of an Earthbound movie, I feel like the orchestral part would be during the devil’s machine fight, and the metal part would come in when Porky turns it off. The pig mask bit at the end is when Porky just fucks off and leaves Ness and co to die.

This is fucking fantastic. The subtle working-in of Porky's Mother 3 theme was a stroke of genius.
Yeah! For electric guitar, I used the African Ebony picks. But it really depends which style you are interested in playing.

You should definitely do that! Mother 2 and 3 are really worth checking out. I'm just now doing another run of Mother 3 and am still amazed... all the details put together and the humor is by all means hilarious!

Yeah, I've unfortunately never played the game, but a friend told me emulating it is worth it. More covers from the game probably won't come until I've played it.

PieriPlolz Gaming Well, I looked up numbers associated with bad luck/fortune, and in Japan, just like in Mandarin where there word for 'four' 四 (Sì) sounds like 'death' 死 (Sǐ), the number 'nine' in Japanese 九 (Kyū) sounds like the word for 'pain' or 'distress' 苦 (Ku). So... if you didn't want a number that sounded like a negative thing, why did make a small number sound like it, then again, in the west, in Europe, they were dominated by Christianity and condemned sexual activity but had the number 6 sound so much like it. Though, it was made bythe Romans who rather followed... what do you call the religion for Roman Mythology, dammit historians, name it something.

I've always thought the whole song was great, but when it switched to metal it just felt unfitting for the big epic finale. No remix I've ever heard did the battle justice the entire way through, except yours. Thank you.

Awesome cover, I love how the game footage goes with the music. I've never played Earthbound either, but I want to. But since I'd never use something as tacky as an emulator I'm gonna look for a used copy for SNES (and yes I'm aware they're really expensive).
So I guess the only choice for now is to either wait until you have the money/need to get a Wii U or just emulate it... Both seem like a sort of bitter sweet choice imo.

Such a great arrangement. Could Wayne post a MIDI somewhere? I'd love playing around with the orchestration in Logic... I have all the best violin and choir libraries too. DO NOT emulate this game. You can get it on the Wii U's virtual console for an affordable price now. It was fine for when the only way to play this was either emulation or paying $50-$100 to get a physical version but now you can actually support Nintendo.
