@@filmretrospective63 I actually know (knew) the band members. This is pretty accurate. Michelle looks beautiful, of course. Question---How can I PM (DM) you here on UA-cam? I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Thx! MP
Mick knew there was absolute zero sense in trying to talk to him. He knew he wouldn’t listen and would have to find out the hard way. Drugs and alcohol suck
Their songs are obviously very good, but for me the sonic quality of TMATP music always struck me. It’s acoustic, but there’s a lot of middle in the mixes and the reverb. It’s just a very, very unique type of sound and when you add that with catchy tunes and lyrics it’s irresistible.
Such a sad story. I'm not trying to excuse him from anything, but I feel as though he suffered from mental illness, and tried to treat it with drugs and alcohol.
@@filmretrospective63 I am steadily making my way through all of your music related docs. They have all been Very interesting. And very well researched. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
john philips was a heroin addict from the late 60s. wolf king of la makes several overt references to this (topanga canyon most explicitly, also drum where he appears to be in cahoots with the "junkie bums"), as do the mamas and papas songs for the love of ivy and safe in my garden. the idea one of the stones got him on that in the mid 70s is untrue. maybe they got him in to IV cocaine.
“While spending time with Keith Richards….” Say no more lol
I never knew much about this band. Thanks for the video
No problem!

thank you!
Please do some more beach boys content!
Good man.
I think it's funny that we live in a society where the names of drugs have to be censored because so many butt hurt people are offended. Smh.
With all the crap you can watch in the internet. Porn, extreme violence, ect ect ect. It’s absolutely absurd
The only people who got offended were the youtube board of directors. Nobody asked for it
Mama Cass ....how awful she reacted to poor Michelle. As a fan, I'm shocked 😢😢😢
What?
Wtf do you mean? Cass was by far the victim in this fucked up group of people. She also was the best singer by far.
Big fan of Mamas and Papas. I never heard the lead pipe story before. lol
Great content.
Thank you. One of my lesser watched documentaries this one.

I loved The Mamas and the Papas! Definitely part of the Hippie Generation.
I always thought John was so good looking! What a shame.....
