Hi Jeremy,
I have been viewing videos to learn about buying a keyboard (electric piano vs electric keyboard) for my children. I watched a few (nonsense) videos and finally clicked on yours. You're straight to the point, no beating around the bush and very easy to understand by someone who has no knowledge about them. When watching your video, it is apparent that you are a very knowledgeable person. Thanks and greatly appreciate your video!
I am not a pro in playing, not just a begginer, I recognise sounds, I can play a song after giving it some tries, I can find out chords in less than half an hour. I also own a music studio. What do you suggest? a digital piano, or a keyboard?
I just want to thank you for your knowledge and efforts to bring things right to beginners.
9:32 RIP headphone users
Who else here is also planning to invest their stay-at-home time in learning how to play the piano XD by the way you're doing a fantastic job Jeremy! I'm going to upgrade my super old PSR-172 to PSR-E363 after watching your videos.
Have fun!
Started 3 months ago. I'm a solid elementary. 2 classical songs and 1 scale learned every which way.
How is your progress going?
@@foreverseethe which piano you used?
I have a keyboard but is sky1036 but that to me have to will I have to upgrade mines into a better one if not I'am going to get something else..✌️
1.5x speed feels normal
Thx god for your comment 😂
Thanks bro
Non-native english will often speak slower
You cleared up years of confusion with this video. A grateful thank you for your effort.
When I was a teenage, I bought my self a keyboard with money earned from little jobs and Christmas gifts from uncles and grandpa's. It was very very entry level in which I could barely practice, not full size keys, not full size keybed, etc, etc.... I think not even key sensitive lol.
Later to college, later to a full time job, married, then kids, then raise the kids, etc..... I had to wait to be middle 40's to afford a good piano.
So, please, don't call what your parents did "a mistake". They did it with their heart, and if they had the money to spent on you, good for them.... and therefore, good for you. 🤗
Nice video with a clear explanation about each model. Thanks a lot, man!
Brings clarity!! Thank you Jeremy
Well done, Jeremy. Lots of useful information. Thank you.
An extra reason for workstations continuing to exist: a musician/producer can create something at home or wherever they are and not have to worry about it being compatible with whatever DAW or systems used at the next studio they work with; they can work in a hotel room without worrying about internet connection etc.
Thanks Jeremy, very helpful and simple points!
Jeremy, always appreciate your explanations! Super clear and to the point. I purchased a Kurzweil Sp6 a month ago and ended up returning the instrument. The keys were very heavy, too heavy. Otherwise I loved the Kurzweil ease of use and sounds. I'm having trouble deciding which way to go next.
Thank you so much for answering my question. You put a lot of work into this channel and it shows. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Thanks buddy.
Thankyou for taking your time to explain the various types of keyboards. Very informative. Enjoyed it very much.
Superb video Jeremy, Last month I searched many places to just find the differences of these types of keyboards but non of the sources gave this much of knowledge in an easy way to understand.
Again thanks so much.
Thanks for watching!
I’m less confused than at the beginning of the video 😂.
This video was extremely clear and helpful.
I'm happy to help.
Thank you so much for this video Jeremy! I have a MUCH better understanding now!
Perfect topic sir, I needed this.
Great video!! Thanks for all the knowledge you provide!
Thank you very much. This is the best video about this topic I have found on the internet.
subscribed! this just answered everything!
Dear Jeremy, thank you for always doing your best to bring everyone your expert opinion to the public. The modern keyboard instrument buying public is a vast target at best. I trust your objectivity and appreciate how you leave the decisions up to us ultimately. God bless you in all you do. You’re a real hero to me!
Thanks buddy.
The information is highly useful.
Thanks. This video really helped me out. I like how you made it in detail
Thanks. Concise and easy to understand.
Thanks a bunch for such a knowledgeable video for starters like me. OMG I was confused what to buy and start with? After searching the entire web for basic understanding on differences and suggestions in each field, here I find it all. Subscribed and hooked to your channel !
I am more at Piano Arangger type of player. Like Yamaha DGX-660, but as of now I have Yamaha PSR-E363
Its better to know. Thanks jeremy.
Thanks Jeremy for this informative video! I find it very helpful!
Thank you for what you do, Jeremy See.
Thanks for the video sir!❤️
Jeremy you don't know how much you are a help to me. Thank you very much. 2 video's consumed a part in 1 hour and you answered all my questions!
I'm happy to help.
beautiful explanation, thank you
That's a great video mate🤘
After watching this video I learn to appreciate and love more my Ypg525.
Thank you for your presentation.
each instrument has its own purpose,PA keyboards have almost everything on board, digital piano's are,you guessed it,good for pianos, synthesisers for sound design, and keyboard midi controllers for controlling VSTI's,so,every instrument has its place
Excellent video Jeremy. Thanks so much.
Thanks buddy!
Thanks man, you've help me allot in buying some keyboard and knowledge
Super helpful - thanks!
I agree with you, why strugling with limited polyphony, track sequencer, and memory? But sonetimes... i mean workstation synthesizer is more fast setup, more portability, and more powerfull output sound compare to the soft keyboard.... and yes nowdays people coming backto use analogue synth than a digital synth..
And in my opinion, piano upright was the best compare to all keyboard, free electricity, free output source, real wood touch feeling but lack of maintenaince the other electric instrument are just free tune maintain...
Awesome video Jeremy! It can't be explained any easier than that. Well done!
Thank you for your kind words buddy. Take care.
@@JeremySee You're welcome. Good Morning.
Great video Jeremy! Can you make a video on how to set your midi controller to play a performance live?
I'm thinking of learning piano and this video has been so helpful :D I didn't know there are so many types of keyboards :D
Thanks for sharing great information about differences between keyboards
I'm happy to share.
thank you v much, this is v well explained! v useful
The thing I search for in an arranger keyboard is to be able to edit music rhythms with minimal effort. (It’s not a huge deal, but I like to break things down sometimes). The menu diving kinda sucks for me because of my eyesight is not 100%. The new Yamaha keyboard PSRSX series have a huge color screen and controls to navigate best with, but it’s all matter of opinion my friend. I would advise users to be aware of return policies, and to use them, initial they find the arranger they love. There are just so many great ones out there! Thanks Jimmy, you’re the best!
Until = initially
Jeremy, You are amazing and your videos are just sky touching knowledgeable :D Thanks for sharing good stuff always.
Thanks for the video sir
This help me a lot thanku
Thankyou so much sir🔥
A worthwhile video with clear explanations. One point about digital pianos (which you possibly chose to avoid and to stick to the basics) with console digital pianos, the design can contribute to the quality of the sound. Some digital grand pianos actively use the soundboard for much the same purpose as an acoustic piano, whereas a small upright digital piano usually doesn't (or cannot) use an equivalent design approach as a grand console. I recall Yamaha releasing an upright ('spinet' size) piano with a specially designed soundboard on the back.
Thanks for elaborating Bryan. I have a special interest in the Yamaha TransAcoustic Hybrids which uses transducer technology to amplify electrical sound frequencies using the soundboard of a traditional acoustic body. Generally though, for portable compact digital pianos and the usual Yamaha CLP Clavinovna, the console don't really do very much difference. Hope you are guys are coping well over where you are, buddy.
@@JeremySee Yes, I've read about the hybrid model(s) but not seen or heard one. Out of my price range anyway, I'm happy with the CVP695GP! As for keeping well, we're on the downward curve (unless constraints get lifted too early) whereas Singapore is now heading in the wrong direction. I'm just hoping the virus mutates into a harmless variant - probably a vain hope so continue to be careful !
Thanks for inspiring my younger sister and I God will favour you
Really needed this video 😂
Really good content! Well done!
Thanks buddy.
Very comprehensive, I was having a lot of confusion but you cleared it up very nicely.
Glad it was helpful!
Great Tutorial
Thank you!
I'm happy to share what I know.
You're really a great teacher!
Thank you. 😍
Synthesizers come in 2 flavors:
for sound design : many knobs , mostly 37 (seldom 49) keys perhaps mini-keys
for performing : fewer knobs , 61 or more keys of standard size.
Hey Jeremy, Thanks for making this.
I'm happy this is helpful.
Very interesting, I could not find this type of course.
Great video thank you. The terminology of the keyboard and piano worlds are a clusterfuck.
Great introduction to keyboards and midi to the non- keyboardist and non- midi!!!
Hey great video thank you! :) Just to make sure I understand correctly, in summary, does this mean that Synthesizers and Arrangers are more for music production while a digital piano or keyboard would be helpful for learning how to play? I don't have any prior experience in piano and I'm looking to actually learn. I'm assuming that I should focus on learning how to play on a digital piano and then maybe later down the road once I have experience, then I can look into synthesizers, midi's etc. Am I understanding correctly?
Thanks for all of the very helpful videos. Do you know of a software package that brings the features of an Arranger Keyboard to a midi controller? These features would include voices, rhythms, the ability to save presets (registrations), and a recording function. Thanks
Very useful
Hi Jeremy, thank you for this very helpful video. I cannot seem to find an answer to my question anywhere on UA-cam or the internet. Can you play a midi keyboard and have it make sound from computer software like you would a regular digital keyboard that has effects built in?
Super!! u are a music bible! Thank you!!
Damn this was just incredible sooo informative💛⭐
Thanks buddy. 😉
Thankyou for sharing ur knowledge with us.
I was just stuck in piano from few months and did not explore in my keyboard but u inspired me to explore as the music world is so big.
Do u get the idea of this video from the comment on last video
The guy said casio cdp is the best keyboard for beginner.
Anyway thankyou for ur knowledge.
And use ur cool outro in ur every video it's dope
Hello Jeremy What functions are included in the Yamaha DGX keyboard?
And btw great video 👍.
Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩
Jeremy can you please do a video about affordable PA systems, because most of the time those who like to do music production or those who like to learn about music production failed to select the optimum PA system for their level and their budget.
Your description of synthesizer makes me miss my juno106
I have an 88 key digital grand piano. It cost $500 and it's great to play on... when I have the space to set it up which with as much as I've been moving around, I certainly haven't had the space to do. So I haven't played in years for that reason. I've been trying to find something small enough and light enough that I can set beside my desk when not using, and use it on top of my computer desk. I may just get a 61 key midi controller.
Did you??
Hello Jeremy, A great explanation from you, I have a question I have been using the Roland G1000 workstation keyboard which sadly is in its last days I used standard midi files for backup for my singing via floppy disc which I found invaluable, I am now at a loss as to what to buy I only really want a good keyboard for piano and if possible connect a USB loaded with my standard midi files similar to what the Roland G1000 could do, I don't like the idea of messing with computers, can you help very much appreciated thank you regards Noeline
Sir please make a video on how to connect and record yamaha psr s670 on Cakewalk By Bandlab using USB cables with correct input and output.
Thanks for your work on these great vids. Help which keyboard for stage use. Good piano, organ and pad sounds that can layer 4 sounds on volume sliders and define in presets. No editing of sound. I’ve reading and studying but the answer is not popping out.
Love your channel. Are there any mini keyboard/arranger etc that has a sequencer or ability to record what one plays? When I am on vacation I bring my laptop with DAW. But would be fun to have something to carry around. Thanks
Hi Jeremy.
I want to play pieces like music from INTERSTELLAR and would like to be able to use different sounds like playing synths or organs using a keyboard. which wtype would be best for me?? thank you
Sir I just got my korg b1 sir can you make a video for that so I know what to do I wish you prosperity and success 😃
Acoustic piano: it's a Piano
Digital piano : it's a Keyboard
Arranger keyboard : it's a Keyboard
Keyboard workstation: it's a Keyboard
Synthesizer : it's a Keyboard
Me: .... Okay, I'm just waiting Mr Jeremy to Give away one of his keyboard 😂👌
Lol
Digital piano is a keyboard
To me, a digital piano is more of a piano than a keyboard.
Thankyou for uploading this video, My understanding is that if I get a touch sensitive digital piano with weighted keys and midi out put with a good DAW, I have basically covered all my bases ?
Is that correct?
Hey Jeremy, I’m interested in learning music production, so would like to know if I could use my Arranger as a midi controller or should I buy a separate midi keyboard. Are there any significant advantages of a midi keyboard?
It really depends on what your situation is. Most keyboards now have MIDI capabilities so find the keyboard that would suit you the best. :)
Thank You Mr. Jeremy See.
So much knowledge and information about piano, keyboard piano and other items.
👍 Nice-Great-Awesome..
Thanks!
Hi Jeremy, Ive been trying to setup my Yamaha psr 957 to my daw and just use general midi. It seems as though Im stuck with the keyboard channel assignment. Do you know if a workstation can be used with general midi. Doesnt seem like I should be limited to just arranger mode when in a daw. The manual does not explain anything about a simple setup to use midi on computer with this board .I dont want to assign a bunch of different buttons because of channel restrictions. Any thoughts.???
Hi Jeremy, will all the style of psr series will adopt or we can use it in psr sx 900 0r sx 775 model ?
Thanks in advance.....
The convination between a piano and a keyboard buy the Roland Go Piano, the best thing out there for begginers.
Jeremy, well done! 👍 But I'm still seeking the most valuable all-in-one keyboard for the money... a fair mix of all of them together 😉
We are all looking for a unicorn! 😉
Hi Sir, can you recommend a keyboard for beginners? I want to learn piano but I don't know what to buy
So very glad to have landed here.
Much much grateful!
🙏❣🌈
I'm happy to share.
This is helpful 😊 Thank you! Especially the distinction between the work station and the arranger keyboard. The lines were kinda blurred for me between the two.
I'm happy this helps to make things clearer.
I love your videos
I have yamaha dgx-505. Yamaha psr s-775. And casio ctk651 can i use these as midi keyboard via mcbook
Hi friends, which key action is faster, more confortable and reliable between Yamaha P125 and Yamaha P515?. Thanks!.
That's why I chose digital piano which seems to focus only on piano sound... I don't need any other sounds...
But well, the digital piano that I got of course got several "other sounds" just for playing around. But they're mostly just sounds that are still "related" like acoustic guitar, violin or viola, I honestly have no idea about these things. The piano itself got 2 versions, grand piano and bright piano...
Well I don't hate the "other sounds" built into it as sometimes it's fun to play with violin ... But still, I prefer the look of a digital piano...
My parents did the same for me... They got me a $5,000 workstation/keyboard when I started showing promise... NOT ONLY THAT-it was some brand I had never heard of and the company ended up going belly up... I ****literally***** never left the home screen for over a year... Recorded one song on it once (6-track, canon in D) which took me over 4 hours, and I didnt save it I guess. It was gone the next time I turned it on (to be fair, it probably wasnt gone. The owners manual that it came with was literally a 3" 3 ring binder).
could you explain where do "Stage Keyboards" fit into all of this? Like on Yamaha website there is all the categories you mentioned and then also a stage keyboard section. Why not just use a work station or higher end arranger keyboard on stage?
Thanks Jeremy. I am thinking of getting a controller keyboard and komplete 13. Only thing is I want an unweighted and 76 keys w touch sensitivity maximum polyphony. Can you recommend something. Also I think theres something about a spec which makes some more universal than others. Any help very appreciated.
If you dont mind pls answer my question. I want to start to learn piano, and i also consider my self to make music in the future. So I'm confuse of what i should buy between piano keyboard or midi keyboard controller, can you give some advice for that?
Ps: i could play guitar, and i could make some arrangements that's why i want to learn piano
