- In this view taken on November 1, 2000, after the conclusion of the 2000 Subway Series, the two trains used during the Subway Series were brought together for a photo shoot against the backdrop of the old Yankee Stadium. The R142 used on the 4 line was decorated with pinstrips on the north and south end cars and the Worlds Fair R-36/R-33S Redbirds used on the Flushing line were decorated with the Mets orange and blue on the end cars. Both trains sported the Mets and Yankees logos and had banners which read "Subway Series 2000". After the photo shoot was finished the "Yankee" train was returned to the 2 line where it runs today. The decorations have long since been removed. The "Mets" train returned to the Flushing line where the consist was broken up and the cars could be seen mixed in with other Redbirds. They eventually ended up at 207th Yard, where they were prepared for reefing. The only survivor was R33 single 9327 which is now at The Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine. The last cars reefed were 9712-13 (GE controlled cars denoted by the yellow sickers ) in 2003.
A Redbird right next to an R142 is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
yes
the R142 next to the R62 is also good
@Ohene Bekoe yeah but that's been normal since like 2004, after they retired the redbirds.
You should have took a picture of it
@@nyctmtakid8358 thanks
The R142 train seen in the video was one of the first R142s to be placed in service. They were assigned to the number 2 line (and still are in service there). This particular set was decorated in Yankees pinstripes on the end cars for the 2000 World Series between the Yanks and Mets. They complimented the R36 Redbird train used on the 7 line that was decorated in the Mets colors on the end cars.
Transitviews What year was this?
Van Pilatus 2000
Should have saved a car from each train and placed it by their respective stadiums. Sending a car to Maine seems illogical. Especially since people up there mainly root for the "Sawx". Thanks for the video and info.
Well the Redbird seems logical to send to its stadium but not R142 because it wasn’t even a year old when the World Series happened.

Best Crosstown Rival Ever in 2000 is the Subway Series.
Stiven Bonilla I saw R142
That Mets Subway train looks real nice!!!!
Silver Skyscraper that's a R33WL or R36WL
I still find it weird there's an R142 in the year 2000. I thought they didn't even hit the tracks until late 2002.
The Mets didn't hit in 2000 series either.
This is when R142 was new now its 17 years old
its 20 now
@@priscillafajardo9251 19 years now
And they are pieces of Shits just like the rest of them tech trains

1:42 see the Redbird train on the side?
In the beginning of the video I can see the north tower antenna.
Is no one going to mention that this is one of the only times that a r142 diamond 4 train was caught on camera
How the hell did the 7 train get to the bronx
It wasnt a 7 train, they just changed the roll sign to the 7
Actually this was the 7 train, the reason why the 7 train was in The Bronx was because 4 trains invited all 7 trains to terminate at Yankee Stadium for the Subway Series since both the Mets and Yankees played at Yankee Stadium, the 7 would first start it’s journey to Yankee Stadium for the Subway Series at Grand Central-42nd St running on Lexington Av replacing the 6, it would run local this is why sometimes when the Yankees are home for the Subway Series you hear on the 7 line: This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 51st St. This is 51st St, transfer is available to the 4,5,6,E, and M trains. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 59th St. This is, 59th St, as you exit please be careful of the gap between the platform and the train, transfer is available to the 4,5,6,N,R, and W trains, a free transfer is available to the F, and Q trains by walking to the Lexington Av-63rd St station and using your MetroCard. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 68th St. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 77th St. This is, 77th St, transfer to the M79 SBS. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 86th St. This is, 86th St, transfer is available to the 4,5, and 6 trains, transfer to the M86 SBS. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 96th St. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 103rd St. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 110th St. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 116th St. This is a Bronx bound 7 local train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 125th St. This is, 125th St, transfer is available to the 4,5, and 6 trains, transfer is available to the M60 SBS to LGA, connection is available to Metro North. This is a Bronx bound 7 train via the Lexington Av Line, the next stop is 138th St-Grand Concourse. This is, 138th St-Grand Concourse, transfer is available to the 4 and 5 trains. This is a 161st St-Yankee Stadium bound 7 train via the 4 line, the next stop is 149th St-Grand Concourse. This is, 149th St-Grand Concourse, transfer is available to the 2,4, and 5 trains. The next and last stop is 161st St-Yankee Stadium. This is, 161st St-Yankee Stadium, transfer is available to the B,D, and 4 trains, transfer to the Bx6 SBS. This is why you sometimes see the Flushing line on the Jerome Av line between Grand Central and Yankee Stadium, once the Yankees are home, the Mets go away into The Bronx to play them from Queens, once in a blue moon during a Subway Series game at Yankee Stadium you’ll be lucky to catch an uptown 7 train at either Grand Central, 51st St, 59th St, 68th St, 77th St, 86th St, 96th St, 103rd St, 110th St, 116th St, 125th St, 138th St-Grand Concourse, or 149th St-Grand Concourse to head up to Yankee Stadium
Watching the Redbirds chugging on their daily grind was the best part of this video.
Even though I'm not a fan of Mets, the design on the Redbird train still looks cool. One thing that i wish it would've appear on this video was the Yankees design on the Redbird, not only that but also the design on full cart on the R142, not just the front/back only. But overall, it still looks cool. Especially when I'm seeing the old Yankee Stadium in this video. I wish it would never demolished
I can see the Bronx house of detention from that view but that's gone now they moved it to hunts point on a boat
A shopping mall stands on that site. Fun fact: Alicia Keys' official video for "Fallin" ends with her character visiting her incarcerated boyfriend at the now demolished House of Detention. The River Avenue entrance to the mall has the original brass door from the building embedded into a column. Concrete eagles from the old facade are embedded along the River Avenue side wall. Check it out one day! 🇵🇷🇺🇸😊
Wow I think I watched this video 8 or 9 years ago and only just found it again.
You're right. But they we're rare back then because they we're still using the R33s, R26s and so on. Because I honestly don't remember seeing these until mid to late 2002 going to a Yankee game ironically.
You're right. I had the same thought.
You can see the subway series redbird at the seashore trolley museum in maine!
why the r142 face is white and black 0:27
It's a Yankees Design.

Who's watching in 2024 when the Yankees and Mets are both in the LCS.
So basically this train was still testing it wasn't in passenger service yet.

The Redbird R36 with the Mets Colors looks way better
Can i use this video?
Nice concept yankees vs mets.
Why were they together
The brand new r142a. And 7 via the 4???
Its R142
R36 cars with the subway series stickers should have been saved for the collections for the museums instead of them being reefed!
It displays a 6 train
