As a young teen, I had a free flight model very similar to this. The fuselage, wing mount, and wings look identical. The engine mounted on the nose, and had no underwing pontoons. It was a Playboy Junior. We attached my buddy’s O&R 24 engine, filled the tank, fired it up, and I ran to hand-launch it. It lifted up off of my hand, leveled out, and flew a quarter of a mile . A thermal caught it, and it climbed. It continued climbing and circling in that thermal until it went out of sight. It may still be flying, for all I know. We never saw it again. And that was over 70 years ago! Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
I love everything RC, ever since I was a kid in the 70’s. Unfortunately when I was 8 in 1979 aa batteries were very expensive. Fast forward to 2024, I’m 53, on a fixed income, disabled, and the crap is still super expensive, but I do like watching the videos 😁👍🇺🇸
Cool! I recall the adverts in my older Model Airplane News I think. The name that sprung to mind was Privateer? I always liked the high aspect ratio wing/fuselarge and polyhedral wing. I must be great to be flying with RC. Thanks. Laurie. NZ. 😊
That's one nice Sea Plane. Almost Glideresque... Wouldn't mind having one of those... 4:40... Scared the crap out of me. Nice touch and go and landing...
And a IC engine too? How nice!
That's a Don McGovern "Sea Cat" as kitted by Berkeley Models in real old RC days-- 1954? A great beauty. Hats off to you guys. Keep 'em flying!
I like your finesse on the controls with that practice touch and go You hardly made contact with the surface.

What a beauty !!!!!!!!!!
That is so cool. I believe the Sea Cat was designed by Henry Struck. I have a kit, this could be the inspiration to build it.
Home slice is flying with old Skool radio tech, love it! Just got some of mine out of the basement and plan on flying with it soon!!
It looks very responsive even though it only seems to be a 3 channel aircraft. Lovely! Reminds me a bit of my Bird Of Time 2 channel soarer😊
Perfect configuration: evidently flies like an angel!
Berkeley Sea Cat, originally flown free flight. Excellent conversion to RC and electric. On outerzone I think.
Yes, on Outerzone.
Intro says floatplane, but it's a seaplane if coarse.
@@QB2ERS"if coarse"?
Or flying boat?
@@johnnichol9412 yes flying boat
Don McGovern's designs were beautiful but pretty complex.. well done Sir !!!😊
A single -engine Catalina motor-glider- now that really is creative!!
That's a great description 😂
Outstanding. A beautiful model that fly's like a dream. Well done you.
3 channel seaplane, Outstanding!!!
Lovely model!
I have a Jetco navigator that is very similar. One of these days I’ll have to finish it.
It looks like a floater in more ways than one!

The Privateer had engine mounted on pylon on the wing, that in itself was mounted on the cabin. This is the Sea Cat from Berkely.
Superb !!!
And it’s working really well signals there and the servos and motor is working
Most unusual. Lovely stable flyer. I'm guessing 3 ch, rudder, elevator and throttle?
Awesome build and flight. Just thinking - you could build something similar by kit bashing a Parkzone Radian :).
Sweet!
That's a bit different, man and birds in harmony 👍
Not seen anything like it before Cliff. Brilliant design
Bonito e muito elegante.
How can I get the great flying model?
That thing looks fantastic! Is it a kit? Are plans available?
Yes...I'm trying to find out more info
@@EssentialRC Plans on Outerzone, Sea Cat by Henry Struck.
Looks like Berkeley kit “Privateer”, is it?
Yes that is the name I recalled. ? 😊
Sea Cat not the Privateer.
I see something like that and I have to draw plans now...
Can you please put up a link where to buy it from thank you
Google Berkeley Sea Cat kit
And hes still using FM radio. Rare now days
Sounds like a brushed motor, too. Speed 400, probably.
You beat me to the antenna
I'm still using a couple...
Don McGovern would be very proud!
Henry Struck
This is the Sea Cat by Henry Struck. Don McGovern did the Privateer.
