@@roycourier1384 I'll just keep flying my sub 250 gram Any things till the cows come home. This is NOT a hobby to most of these people any more. They act like they are manned air craft.
Smartly arranged organized and hosted R/C float flying event! The camaraderie among the participants was clearly evident. A cherry on top would have been a Bar-B-Q or maybe a foodie truck for the attendees to cap off the perfect flying day. Enjoyed the video...blue skies to all.
Ha!. I seen Twin lakes and thought it was Wa State. We have the Gissberg Twin Lakes in Marysville Wa, where they race and run Model boats, and could fly RC float planes off of the south lake(tiny RC flight stuff on the north lake). Also a Twin Lakes somewhat near Spokane, Wa, where clubs have flown RC float planes. Shot down!!, by the Red Baron on Floats!. Has anyone ever done a Fokker DR.I Triplane on floats??. Hmm. Lol. Thanks for the video, Very neat! Dad was a Private Pilot for 40+ years. A custom Piper Turbo Super Cub on Floats was my first ride. Was Awesome! Still remember it to this day. That Cub was No slouch with the turbo kit. It would jump right up, and off the water. The pilot used to to haul fishermen to remote lakes for big $$$.
Thanks for the comment! I was flying at Lake Orono near Elk River, MN Saturday. It is a much better site with a much longer beach. It amazed me that the turnout was so small, but it was opening day of the fishing season in Minnesota. Thanks for watching.
Real planes do this too. In fact they “flip” airports based on prevailing winds. In other words, as the wind direction changes, they change the direction of take off and landing. This is done because it creates great “airspeed” over the wings, providing more lift at lower “ground speeds”. It reduces the required distance for take offs and landings and lowers the stall speed.
I have been flying RC models for many years and I know the rules, that's why I was interested in the fact that someone takes off in a different direction and lands in a different direction... maybe the wind was changing so quickly or the edited film shots were not from the same flight
Land planes use a specific direction of the runway, usually parallel to the flight line, you never takeoff or land across the runway, you either have a headwind or crosswind, not the same with float planes although you can takeoff but not land away from the flight line.. it would mean you are flying over head. its not safe to land or takeoff directly towards the flight line.
Because it was a sanctioned AMA event. Remote ID authorizations are for any AMA sanctioned event. This authorization allows AMA members to operate at sanctioned events without broadcasting Remote ID information. Altitude waivers are only for events in uncontrolled airspace (Class G). (From their FAQ.)
⚠️⚠️⚠️ Should have bring a little canoe with a little platform with thin belts of elastic, so it's possible to go out and nd pick up a plane IF..it went wrong 🙂 🌼✨🌹✨🌼

I am pretty sure that when Jeff said “1st annual” it was wishful thinking! The fact that most flights when well and only a few planes were damaged is both a tribute to pilot skill and quite a bit of good fortune. Who said “I’d rather be lucky than good”? Anyway, I thank you for watching and commenting. Cheers!
Excellent explanation of the FAA waiver process and overall introduction!
Thats why i gave up RC, no longer fun with FAA involved.

Was the waiver because of it not being a FRIA field or location of the lake?

Great to see! I used to fly RC floats. I flew with Grass field RC and SPRC some 30 years ago.
Beautiful place! My buds and I in NY had some float flying fun at Lake Tahgcanic state park this past weekend (5-11-24)
It is quite a nice park. Everyone there wants Jeff Slater to do another one in the fall. It would be great if the bathrooms had been opened!

Many thanks, Ingo, for watching!
Looks like fun!
Very nice video Dale.
Thank you very much for watching! It was a great event that might be repeated this fall after they close the beach.
Flying over water is beautiful, but I don't understand why takeoffs and landings are not consistently carried out against the wind
Wondered the same thing

I should pop in here and explain that the wind never exceeded 4-5 mph and changed frequently. We saw it come from every direction.
Was the waiver because of it being a sanctioned
event for club members or open event ? or because it was held at a non FRIA area ?

i love watching rc float flying love flying rc planes her in the Philippines

Are there similar Federal RC flying rules in the Philippines?

Nice video. Don't you guys have an rc rescue craft to retrieve your planes??
There was a 12’ aluminum boat with an electric trolling motor on it. It was used several times. Thanks for watching.

Can you tell me the manufacturer of the large yellow cub, and do you know which engine he is using. Thanks
The Cub is a 1/4 scale Cub from an Sig kit. The engine was a Quadra 42 converted to ignition. Thanks for watching!
Dear Sir, There is no such thing as a 1st annual, it is inaugural event. It gets me when intelligent people get it wrong time and time again.
I wish I was perfect Too.

@5:42.......Whoa!
The gas planes are WAYYYY more realistic and much better suited for floats..
@20:28. It looks weightless! Slowest inverted spin I've ever witnessed.
It only looked slow because there were few clouds for perspective. I found it difficult to track with the long lens.
I can't hear the music!
