Last spring I had a 2nd grade student score at a 5th grade level in math (not where he was functioning at all). His mom sent me a dojo message that she thought some of the things "he" was doing on the test were too hard for a 2nd grader! 🤣🤣🤣 Who do they think they're fooling?!
I needed this since I'm on lunch break with my first grader, 2 seventh graders, and junior! I've got no Sheldons but this 1st grade curriculum makes me think I should have one🤦🏾♀️ Minuend and Subtrahend---what.....? But I saw Susie's Mom at our morning meeting this morning 🤫Ooh..... Billy's mom's number is memorized🤣🤣 💖🙏🏾
As a long-retired teacher, my heart goes out to everyone involved - the children, their parents, the teachers and administrators. Arranging everything for Covid-19 protocols has got to be STRESSFUL!!! Blessings and keep safe! ❤️
Gerry, you make me laugh every time. I am a retired teacher now helping my third grade grand daughter on zoom. I sure wish she could go back to school. Love her though.
That dad call on exiting the shower, so hilarious. I sympathize! Been teaching online for almost two years and interesting things happen in those homes in China!
This one made me laugh. Back in university (about four decades ago) some of the dumbest students would get A+ on term papers but a D on the exams. Mystery solved, they all lived at home with their parents. 🤪
Same here. College doesn't realize remote and in-class is apples and oranges. No way can educational growth virtually beat in-person classes. Oh, and by the way, my school has NO remedial classes for my subject. Remedial are dumped in my class and I'm not paid for serving this group mixed into my class. It's humiliating for them to be mixed in a group that has had a noticeably better educational experience than them. Remedial issues are all across the all college courses, too. It's a nightmare and students are unhappy and dropping the classes like flies. Re: assessment- That's what happens when school districts/administration make uncertified/untrained people(parents) to do the job of professionals. Parents/grandparents/older siblings have no business administering state mandated materials like assessments. That's unlawful, isn't it. Oh, okay, I guess it's void the moment it's expressed VERBALLY by administration. Best include a check to the parents for their work doing the assessment, and for being the IT tech, and the sit next to the kid all day per the rules while class is in session. Don't forget to send a maid to the house while the parent has to sit next to the kid during 6 hours of class and doing the 5 homework assignments per class
Now it would have been really cool if Gerry pretended that he had a rotary phone and was moving that finger up and down furiously as he dialed. Some crazy things happen with remote learning.
My 4th grade teacher found that I was very good with Math. She worked with my mom, the principal and school administration to get books and workbooks for the 6th grade. This continued through 12th grade. Because of this teacher I ended up getting a BS degree in mathnand worked for the largest Airplane manufacturer for 30 years. I contacted the teacher after graduating from college and getting employment. I told her that her over and above efforts have given me opportunities to earn a good living and be able to retire at a reSonable age. Please work with your children's teacher, don't take them for granted.
Parents are so enabling. I had a parent of an autistic student take the 7th grader's iReady BOYD assessment & the student's schedule was changed because the student scored at the 10th grade level. The parent of an 11th grade ESE student did all the student's iReady reading assignments so the student cd go on vaca to Puerto Rico. The student's Lexile score jumped by 1000L pts with a score of 1700L. The 12th grade placement was AP & gifted. That's why the creators suggested locking home access for all assessments. I had an MS edu major who paid an undergrad student, at a private university in DeLand, FL, to do all his online assignments at $300/week. It was the student's parents who told him to get a tutor to do 1/2 the assignments, as in apprenticeship while he did the other half. The student graduated with a MS in edu & entered the PhD unable to write a complete- simple sentence.
I am a former teacher and there is not enough money in the world to make me be a principal. I'm afraid I'd snatch one of those kids up and then end up in jail lol
Just 'cause you used snatched up... you would have been the perfect teacher for my daughters. Love it. Being a good educator is right up there with God and Nana. Thank you.
You must be a totally stressed out teacher .Working with parents on a new level LOL We are all making fun of ourselves of lately. That is why I said it you don't know the answer skip the question.Becuz I don't want to be blasted on YT LOL THANK-YOU Gerry you made my day and the world a better place.
Gerry. How about doing a video on 2 sets of twins sitting in front the screen in the same classroom. They luckily stay on the same side of their screens so we call their names. If they would ever switch, we would never know.
Is this guy really a teacher and is this really what is happening with classes on zoom in America ? I appreciate he's acting but is he drawing on experience?
Screw that zoom excrement! That ain't a doing them kids a bit of good. Get them all in school orhave the parents do homeschool. Yeah, I used improper grammar. That's what happens when you rile up a mountain girl.
'You cannot try to rebuke satan outta somebody else's child' 🤣😂🤣😂... I'm dead.
Home Inspection Pro Why not? I feel like we teachers do the equivalent every day!
Oh yes you can! lol
Lol I'm not even sure teacher but love this guy!
This guy is hilarious and needs his own comedy show on tv! 8 )
Once again, Gerry knows what happens in the classroom.
And at home
That groan at the end sums up this school year so far for educators. 🤦♂️
You mean Urducators! Love Gerry.
This is hilarious! I'm retired but my teacher pals are absolutely exhausted. He's not making up all this.
He's definitely not making this up
@@Ggonz17 cant tell if this is a joke or.... please explain
too real!!! Is there something you did over the summer to help her? Oh, you gave up dairy? Yeah, that was probably it...
...and gluten. 😂
"Yeah, wearing a towel doesn't help, either." 😱
Rebuking Satan?!?! 😂😂😂 I’m not gonna lie... I hope she’s praying for them parents too!
This is ALL just such a mess...he's not wrong!!
Poor Billy! Again!
Love the phone with the attached cord!
Please keep the videos coming! You're the genius not Suzy!
“Check that schedule and put some clothes on.” Ah, words to live by in the year of COVID, 2020!
U seriously crack me up.🤣🤣..all hands up to the teachers 👍 ' errbody' 🤣🤣

Love how she even had the audacity to message, 'calling out the school ' when it was so clear she wasnt following the rules 😑👏👏
“Friday’s she’s not doin nuthin.” Lol
2020 is giving you some great material

She's like the young sheldon
Whose parent voted thumbs down on this????? Lol
Susies mom doesnt like being called out 🤔
I'm thinking....KAREN!!!
Obviously the guy from the shower! Real men don’t like to be told what to do in his own castle!
I was wondering that myself!
Great strategy! When parents tell us how smart their child is, we should recommend a 3 grade jump. Would love to see the panic in their eyes. Lol!
Gerry, you're becoming my regular midday lunch break date! Thank you for the pick-me-ups!
Gerry, you make me laugh every time. I am a retired teacher now helping my third grade grand daughter on zoom. I sure wish she could go back to school. Love her though.
🤣
Felt this on a SPIRITUAL level
Gotta love that accent.....LOL
I can relate to the first call. I love grading one students papers, because then I can put a big red X so mom knows which problems she got wrong 🤦♀️
That dad call on exiting the shower, so hilarious. I sympathize! Been teaching online for almost two years and interesting things happen in those homes in China!
"Just put that on the furgerator"!😂
This one made me laugh. Back in university (about four decades ago) some of the dumbest students would get A+ on term papers but a D on the exams. Mystery solved, they all lived at home with their parents. 🤪
Even now, I feel this. Glad you managed to hang in there
Gerry Brooks. I hope my principal sees your vids. You absolutely understand what we teachers are going through. Thank you for what you do.
God I love this man! My friend is a teacher and complains about the same things! Love you, love you!

That groan at the end...😆
I just want Gerry to hire me🤣🤣🤣
Ugh!!!😩 I feel for you sir!!!
This is so fun! Love the phone with the cord.
Now it would have been really cool if Gerry pretended that he had a rotary phone and was moving that finger up and down furiously as he dialed. Some crazy things happen with remote learning.
I love how much of this applies to the workplace, too (aside from the first grader herself, of course 😜)
"gave up dairy"....hahaha 😂😂😂😂

There’s just so much truth to those phone calls lol!
Yes and you may want to do one with the parents who leave their 1st grader home alone to do online schooling
Absolutely super idea! Try doing one on multiple students being left home alone with one school issued laptop🤔😒😔
That's the family I had to call child abuse enforcement on. Ugh!
Gerry you know what's up!
Thank you.
This child is a young sheldon. Lmao!
OMG, I can't even...!
"No more rebuking Satan"
