I (on a different account) have a new channel. For the time being, christmas music performed with some weird whistle method. Christmas music, so it is slightly related :- ) I still don't spam it here. That would be rude.
Let me know if I can mention it with the actual channel name in your comments.

Always interesting, informative and entertaining.
If there really were a Lord you, sir, would be doing his work.
Christianity was invented as a man-made instrument of oppression whose stories were specifically designed to awe "the rabble" (as Eusebius et al. called their target demographic).
Although there are many kind, compassionate and sincere Christians out there, those men and women who use the Bible as a weapon to justify greed, hate, oppression, persecution are a cancer on society.
If it wasn’t for this channel and a few others I would probably still be deep in my old beliefs. I am so grateful I don’t have to live like that any more, I was trapped.
I feel you. Holy Koolaid and GMS saved me
I feel you. I was indoctrinated and got out thanks to people like Thomas
You should look into islam. It's contradiction-less! Ask the guide for sincere guidance
@@josepha9045 even if i assume that's true, a book being internally consistent is not impressive and in no way proves the existence of a god. When it comes down to it, Islam uses the exact same flawed arguments, logic and bad evidence in an attempt to demonstrate the existence of a god...
Trapped? Really? 😒
I agree with Aron Ra, if a deity had revealed Scriptures then they would be without parallel and without any error.
And it's not even close to parallel with the greatest works. Most of the Christians I know do their best to avoid coming into contact with excellent literature. C.S. Lewis is their idea of 'as good as it gets'.
The Bible has no parallel and no errors.
@@davidlafleche1142 😂😂😂😂😂😂 sure!
There are several possibilities here:
A) You're a troll.
B) You're lying.
C) You've not read it.
D) You're trusting apologists.
All of them are bad. Whilst I agree some of the so called contractions in the Scriptures can be reconciled, a great many can't. Simply asserting it's without errors makes you appear ignorant or a disingenuous liar.
PS at least you're not being sexist and telling me to be quiet!
@@ladyselenafelicitywhite1596 I dealt with an individual some years back who called me out on refuting the "contradictions" in the Bible. I did.
He hasn't talked to me since.
Aron Ra is an arrogant idiot.
I actually watch your content as a believer. That will not change, and nor do I condemn you for your journey as well. I do want to say thank you for challenging me in areas I never thought about, for exploring and opening my mind to things I never really noticed. I did not grow up in it, as you did. This is simply where my path lead me. I check your content as points of self reflection and see how the church body as a whole conducts itself and hope to educate, to correct, and to help my immediate church community be an active force of good instead of what the whole “body” has become. Though we may have different beliefs, I have the upmost respect for you and look forward to your content to challenge me.
I really wish all conversations on this topic were like this, where you’re not being mean to him, and he isn’t being mean to you
I feel the exact same way about Santa Clause, if it was good enough to believe as a child the spirit of Christmas the season of giving is something I try and get my entire community to follow on a year round bases. Be happy and jolly not just in December, but all year long. We would all be better for it.

Being an inerrantist, which is having those high standards for the Bible, being that it supposedly came from a perfect god is what led me away. It's either 100% true and accurate or 0. So naturally, when my confidence fell to 99 because of the contradictions, failed prophecies, etc, my confidence fell to 0.
It doesn't have to be that way. It did for me too, but I know of christians that have found a more spiritual way to interpret and live by the bible. And I applaud them for being able to.
@@DutchJoan if the bible is the word of "God", it can't have mistakes. Why should i waste my life for a religion that contains clear mistakes ? I applause for everyone who sees that and leaves Xtianity
@@richman8082
Well, that's the literal approach, when you see the bible as one coherent book instead of a compilation of novels, short texts and epistles from different authors and of different genres. I see the bible more as a book of storytelling and the human attempts to seek deeper meaning and elevate everyday living. I don't believe in gods and goddesses anymore, but I find the human story fascinating. I don't find it a waste of time to study the texts and learn more about the motivations of the authors and the literary styles they used to tell their stories.
It was a slow burn for me. Even in elementary school, my parents told me not to take certain things in the bible literally, such as the 6 day creation. By middle school, I learned to ignore the church's complaints about evolution because they were obviously ignorant of the facts. By high school, and I figured my particular denomination had to wrong, and if I was going to continue to believe, I needed to craft my own theology. I took several bible courses in college (it was a Christian university) and I realized the bible was wrong about a lot of things. Then I staked everything on morality; if there was an adequate secular explanation for morality, then I would stop believing. I took an ethics class, and that was it.
@@DutchJoan Why?
I remember as a kid in church always being confused as to why the pastor would read half of a story about Jesus from "Luke" and then the other half from "John". Or some other combination. Never just straight through all in one gospel. It was always "here is the first part of the story" followed by "and now we turn to John and...". The fact that the gospels all were supposed to cover the same events (Jesus's life start to finish) was never really made clear to me either for a long time. I feel it was a conscious decision because they knew letting people in on the secrete that each one was sometimes WILDLY different and contradictory would give the game away before i was fully indoctrinated.
@SCHOLARvid Probably never talked about in the full context. Its like how for Easter they would never read all the accounts, showcasing that they are different. They would probably pick whichever one they personally liked best, or best flowed into the sermon they wanted to preach. And anytime you did have a question, you were always told whatever was the quickest and easiest way to get you to be complaisant, truth and honesty be damned. Like if you asked "did the flood really happen?" Instead of getting an honest answer about actual history and varying takes on its authenticity or its usage as either literal history or allegory... you were told "yes and they actually found the Ark as well" and that was it. And being 9 or so that was enough.
The scariest part is the level of double think these people possess. At the same time completely aware of the discrepancies and also in complete denial of them...
Compare the versions of the "resurrection" - different days, different times of day, different witnesses, different numbers of "angels", different women. You'd think they could've at least got their story straight but it's because the original Bible didn't include a resurrection narrative - as we see with the Sinaiticus they kept adding random bits and pieces so it looks like different people added their own fabricated and conflicting resurrection narratives probably about the time they changed the sharpened stake to a cross.
And they had to invent the resurrection or how could Paul meet Jesus?
Then Christians wouldn't have known they didn't have to do all the Jewish stuff in the OT
Because it’s self authenticating
@@SimpleLasagna lol, that's just a cute Christian apologetics way of saying it's circular reasoning. Guess what.... Muslims say the same about the Quran. And Mormons about The Book of Mormon. And Hindus about the Vedas lol.
Thanks!
No problem
You're welcome!

Excellent job on this!!!
The other crazy thing about the Jesus lineage is that the Jewish traditions track lineage y through the mother not the father. It’s literally a matriarchal lineage. So tracking back to David through Joseph outside of Jesus being a step son in the realtors wouldn’t be hope that was tracked
It's because they invented the Jesus character using a checklist of old prophecies so they could say he was the "Mashiah" - but by trying to make him fulfil two prophecies they made him fulfil neither.
They made Joseph a descendant of David except Jewish kinship was.matrilineal plus the virgin birth idiocy says Joseph wasn't his father anyway.
The whole "virgin birth" thing proves that the NT was fabricated by Greek speakers who weren't Jewish, and they used the Greek Septuagint as their source.
@@emperorofpluto thanks for breaking down my point so well! This is some great expansion!
@Alias Fakename indeed!!! I was pointing out Judaism for the specifics of tracing Jesus’ lineage but it’s why patriarchy is so toxic because it’s been forced into cultures where it doesn’t belong! Including it’s own. Hell the patriarchal properties come from Greece and the replacement of its first major religion with the chthonic gods in equal step with their female partners (such as Persephone and Hades and why their the least toxic pairing in the pantheon) literally the Olympians defeating the titans was to winning of patriarchy over a fairer egalitarian leaning matriarchal social norm before it. Then the Bible is translated by the Greeks and adopted by the romans who further deminish the feminine from the Devine and replace the cultures of almost all of Europe
Hey, small note. Jews track Judaism status through the matriarchal line, and tribal / property/ role status through the father. It doesn't matter, because Jesus was born of a 'virgin'

Much love mate for your content .
0:26 The issue with who spiced Jesus' body isn't a contradiction so much as it is a blatant error/sign of gospel embellishment. In ancient Jewish burial customs, spices are added to the body so that the people preparing the body and mourners don't have to smell the rotting corpse. Why would they add spices to a corpse that has already been buried for three days? There is no one around to be bothered by the odour. Bodies didn't NEED to be "anointed" with spices for any kind of religious cleansing. It makes no sense why the women would do this once the body is already locked away.
Whoever wrote the gospel of Mark wasn't fully aware of Jewish burial customs. The women coming to spice Jesus' body is a plot device used to get witnesses to the empty tomb. It's actually a really good argument against the historicity of the empty tomb.
I read in David Fitzgerald’s book Nailed that the description of Jesus’s trial isn’t the way trials were held in those days. The writers clearly weren’t too familiar with the so-called holy land and its customs.
Another flaw was the round tomb stone, they didn't come into use until the 2nd century CE. When Jesus was supposed to have been buried his tombstone would haven't been round.

@@johndoney2665 those are great sentiments, unfortunately most "Christians" do not live by them. Most "Christians" I have met are the most judgemental, petty, and exclusionary people I've ever met. Further you do not have to be a "Christian" or even be religious to live by those tenants of just being a good kind person. Full disclosure I was raised Catholic but have since rejected Catholicism.
The Gospels are not meant to be an error free, seamless account of what happened. They were also written for different reasons. Matthew was written with a focus on Jews. Mark focused on Gentiles. If you would like more examples of the different purposes for the 4 Gospels I’d be glad to give some. The Gospels arnt history books meant to be cross referenced. Any well studied Christian would know this. They have deep meaning and the differences in each are intended for a different reason.

True - the vast majority of Christians, especially American Evangelicals are "Cafeteria Christians" at best. @@1970Phoenix Christians do not put that much emphasis on the Old Testament and HaShem.
OT/Tanakh is Old Covenant where as Jeesus made this new Covenant by dying in the cross.
But they should change their name from Christians to Paulinians because Paul is much more important to them than Jeesus.
You really need an encounter with the living JESUS, and it would change your point of view, for JESUS says that His yoke is easy ,and his burden is light
@@1970Phoenix The only thing that matters in the end is what did you do with my son JESUS? If you don`t have a relationship with JESUS, you are standing on slippery, shaky ground.
What turned off from the Bible for good was an incedent in the Old Testament where a certain man promised God that if God gave him victory in war he would sacrifice the first thing he saw when he arrived home. The first thing he saw was his daughter a mere child how perverse is that a God being OK with child sacrifice
And they call the Aztecs' human sacrifice barbaric.
Yes, it's another of the horrid tales that were selectively left out from the approved tales of the bible. It was of Jephthah and the events that occurred as you mentioned. The story basically has to be left out because god is told as being: 1) Omnipotent - all-powerful without limits, 2) Omnipresent - at all times everywhere, and 3) Omniscient - all-knowing of the past, present, and future. So if that's the case how & why did he allow Jephthah to make such
an offering if he already knew what was going to happen., why didn't he make a chicken fly out or a dog come to greet him instead.

Even in my adolescence I could never wrap my head around Jesus being a direct descendant of David if he wasn’t “biologically” from Joseph. Of course it’s clear now how many inconsistencies there truly are, but I’m surprised this isn’t questioned more. (But should I be?)
@Jamal Ramadan depends on the branch of "truth" you want to adress.
Both Mary and Joseph were descendants of David so it really matters NOT.
Mother's lines are never recorded because it's assumed they are without doubt since God is particularly harsh about that !
It is the mother who makes someone part of Gods people or NOT.
It was Josephs line which needed to be listed and proven
The thing that most people miss is that both Joseph, [his line was cursed in Jeconiah] But Mary was also from the line of King David, and came to be the lynch pin of the prank that GOD played on Satan for through the kinsman redeemer GOD had a pure line back to King David
This is covered quite early in church history, someone found out from Jesus’ family line why there are two genealogy’s.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is True. The Hebrews wrote in Hebrew, the romans wrote in greek.
The so-called modern scholars, like to say Mark was written first and that “Matthew” copied from “Mark” Because it is the least flattering. Under this assumption the least accurate or most degraded document would be called first/original. If so why didn’t Matthew mention it? He didn’t believe it? He didn’t think it was important? No, Mark was written by a roman, copying from “Matthew” in roman; to destroy the message of The Messiah, by linking it with spauls’ blasphemous greek gospel to the greeks.
In Matthew and Luke the genealogies are a contradiction. Matthew said the woman held Him by the feet and worshipped Him. Luke says that Jesus said, don't touch me for I have not yet ascended to My Father. Spaul contradicts all the other 40 Inspired Hebrew Books including “Matthew”.
Old Testament so called "contradictions" or copy errors are few and can be easily explained with proper translation. In the "New Testament" (Hebrew/greek), there are many irreconcilable differences. Because only Matthew was originally written in Hebrew. "Matthew" was written anomalously/untitled. It is The Testament of Messiah the last Inspired book.
The roman/greek books that fallow are full of roman lies, propaganda and contradictions; so the gentiles wouldn't become Jews in Jesus and obey The Law.

These videos have been blowing my mind. I've been an atheist for the last 5 years or so, and haven't picked up a Bible in almost a decade. I cannot believe how many blatant, obvious contradictions there are that I never noticed growing up. I grew up in a Gospel Hall church too, so I heard the gospels read on a weekly basis. I guess they intentionally downplay or skip over these errors so that people won't notice; I sure didn't.
If people actually read their Bible, the churches would go bankrupt, and the clergy would have to get real jobs.

Thanks for pointing these scriptures out I have always wondered about these contradictions
Dr Richard Carrier found that the Bible had two versions before the Roman Occupation: one in Juda and one in Isreal. After the Occupation, they combined them. They couldn't edit the Contradictions out without losing important details.

The genealogies should be a huge red flag for any believer, if the writers of Matthew and Luke can't get something that simple right, why should we trust any of it if they can't get the small details right, was this not inspired/written/guided by the master of the universe. Even in their new testament Luke 16:10 says: “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." Maybe I'm wrong quoting this verse, but I feel like it's relevant.
great point when the actual text disproves the dogma. well said.
Great last word
Reading the gospels straight through for a history course after having spent 3 years reading and analyzing other historical documents demolished my remaining faith. The truth did indeed set me free lol.
John 15:12-17
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit-fruit that will last-and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other”
"Love each another".
After speaking of love, Jesus deals with the hatred of those who reject the Word of God and who reject his disciples. He foretells that the world will hate and persecute Christians just as it hated and persecuted Himself. The world will be hostile to Jesus and consequently it will also hate those who live in his teaching.
Jesus therefore gives another teaching: the tribulations and persecutions to which they will be subject must not frighten them since they, strong in their faith, know that Christ, who has conquered the world, is in them. Jesus' friends are not left alone in persecutions and painful circumstances: they must know that the Defender will be beside them, the Spirit of truth who gave witness to Jesus, will also give it to them. But even the disciples living the very life of Christ will be an uninterrupted witness of his works. In fact, the Spirit, sent by the Father through the Son, will be the "soul" of the Church.
Jesus said: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church.

I was still a big believer in my first year at uni, so I took biblical (koine) Greek. I found the discrepancy in the generational history of Joseph and asked our lecturer about it. He answered by saying that they believe that Mary was somehow related to David. Besides that, the first thing they tell you in your first class is that a lot of the figurative language has been lost, so they have to make educated guesses as to which expressions get to be translated literally. This is what led me to deconvert.
Yes, jewish lineage is passed on by the mother, they inherit titles/property/etc from the father. So this checks out. Also to counter the whole "there's more generations between x date and y date on this side than there are on that side" argument. I'll just say...In modern times, we have teen moms, and we have women who have children in their 30s. I used to be a KJV onlyist. One of the things that pushed me away is the fact that they promote the KJV and they invariably say it’s the KJV 1611. However they carry and use the 1769 version. When asked about why there would be an update from the 1611 the answer is “to fix minor punctuation errors”. So of course I would say “Joys and tittles? So the 1611 wasn’t completely perfect and had to be fixed?“. I would the be poo-pood and told I was being rediculous, or even worse that the devil was trying to manipulate me. In the end I decided reality was a thing and being a psychopath doesn’t change that fact.

What Christians won't admit is that they aren't really Christians because they love God, they're Christians because they're afraid of burning forever. That's always their argument for non-believers or people from different religions. That just shows that Christianity is a religion that is built upon blackmail and fear but is wrapped around a blanket of false love.
SMT intensifies.
Yes it's like being in a relationship with someone who threatens you if you leave.
No. I love God
You fool! Where did you find this information? To clarify, it is the fear of God that keeps us in belief. It even says that in the scriptures. You can’t just assume that all Christians are the same. The truth is that no one is perfect in knowledge or obedience except Jesus. There are people who claim that they are Christians but they have no knowledge. There’s no blackmail if you truly come to learn the word. In conclusion, don’t let what others say build the walls of what a Christian is. Only read what it says in the Bible to truly know what it means to be Christian. In reality, it is your choice whether you believe or not. If someone says that you’re going to “hell” if you don’t believe in God, they are obliviously steal God’s right of say to where someone goes in their afterlife. Use this knowledge, but only if the bible proves of it.
This comment doesn't really makes much sense since you can't get inside the mind of every christian and there are different philosophies of loving God, a good amount of them being based not on fear, but love. I say that because as a traditionalist, i see a lot of people loving God, purely, without knowing the laws properly, which is not what i usually do, as i'm deep in understandign the laws of what is sin and what is not...

Question from a life long atheist, if the mark matthew and john books tell the same story but differently, why do they continue to use them all? Like wouldn't it clear up a lot of these problems if they just narrowed it down to just one?
Because Christian pastors and apologists will justify the differences by comparing the Gospels to a car accident. Four people can witness the same accident but their accounts may differ based on different points of view. Christians are just taught to harmonize the Gospels no matter the discrepencies.

Back in my church days we were actually told that the bible does in fact, not contain any inconsistencies at all. It was even used as an argument that therefore the bible must be true. It also meant, after being made to feel like a right fool when people did point out inconsistencies, that I had to question the entire validity of the bible. It is also indicative of how shallow bible study was at my church, that they could get away with statements like that without anyone noticing...
Clearly there are differences between stories in the bible but this would not have been intentional and the core point of the stories are consistent. I'm sorry that you were treated like that. It's always important to know the truth

I like the idea a character in Foucault's Pendulum (by Umberto Eco) thinks about: some time around 50AD or so some people came together and did a storytelling contest: they create a guy, agree upon some essential plot lines and the rest everybody can develop for themselves to see who does it best. The problem: the stories land in the hands of friends who like them, tell them their friends who know nothing about the contest but write them down/copy them for their friends. start believing in them, ... - and when the original authors notice what happens it's too late: Paul already had his vision, the romans start checking this strange new cult, other authors write their own stories in this shared universe, ...
Sure, that's surely not what really happend, but it's a nice theory 🙂 - and would explain some new testament contradictions
That's the thing, there's nothing wrong if it was something like this. Jesus as a rebel liverator for the Jews, whether fsctual or fiction or both. The problem is all the imbelishing into divinity and fate and heaven and hell and bastardizing Judaism as well as the Greek beliefs Christianity came from. They take very true things about humanity and possibly even some real events but then force it into being more than it needs to be.

The story says Jesus claimed that “every jot and tittle” of the Jewish Torah was inerrant. Nothing at all is said of the Bible in the Bible because the Bible is an Omnibus, “a volume containing several novels or other items previously published separately.”
Exactly. Jesus couldn't be talking about ANY of the NT including the gospels, because it wasn't written yet.

I've never understood the "fulfilled the law" thing. How do you fulfill a law? Where in the old testament does it say these laws are only in effect until the messiah comes? And maybe more importantly, how can the law change when Jesus says the law will not change until the world is destroyed? Last I checked, the world still exists.
I'm not able to address that very well, but Paul had said that the Law was fulfilled in Yeshua's death and resurrection, we therefore do not need the Law. But Yeshua's brother James (that makes literalist Catholics mad) said we still have to follow the Law. And that "good works" are the faithful following of the Law, not good deeds as Christians are taught.
I interpret fulfilling the law as finishing out the morality and laws paved out in the old testament, especially considering that he emphasizes "I come to fulfill it, not abolish it" another verse says "follow the law of the land" which in the context of the line would have been the Jewish law of the old testament, the notion that Jesus' resurrection made it so old testament laws are invalid is a misconception most likely conjured by Christians who could no longer explain away the horrible morals contained within it
@@juiceoverflow two things don't make sense to me with that interpretation. "Fulfill, not abolish", and yet most Christians treat the laws as abolished. And second, Jesus says not a letter of the law will change until heaven and earth are destroyed. I don't know about heaven, but earth hasn't been destroyed.
@@alexmcd378 well I'll tell you why that happens, because 99% of Christians have never opened up the Bible and just know what cherry picked sections and rewritten narratives were drilled into them by their pastor or parents
Jesus fulfilled the Law by keeping to it perfectly. He neither disobeyed its commandments nor declared any part of it not binding upon the Israelites. Once fulfilled when he died, that Law was no longer binding on God’s people.
