Bro, that opening riff is savage. Drop D, but the darkness of the 6505 makes it sound like a lower tuning. Very cool. Also, you look like Carlos Condit. Check it out
Great little amp! Booth speakers are great. I prefer the Greenbacks, have a better tone and more bite in my oppinion, but i dont know if Im wrong but the V30's seem to have a little more low end. Am i wrong? Would like to hear the guitar with active pickups along with the Greenbacks. Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘
Hey, great video! When you're running the amp into your interface so you can add an impulse response are you coming out of the fx loop or the headphones? Or are you using a torpedo and going out of the actual amplified speaker output? Thanks!
Thanks! I was using my Torpedo Reload because it was right there, but you could very easily just use the effects loop send straight into your interface. You can get the Two Notes Wall of Sound plugin just by buying one impulse response from them (which I think one of them is around $12) and the WoS plugin gives you the option to add a power-amp section along with the speaker impulse. So you wouldn't lose anything by not using the amp's power section. The 6505 Piranha doesn't require a load, so no harm in not having a cab connected if you wanted to record silently. So really, armed with the Piranha and WoS, you could probably get an even better sound than I did here. I was just trying to keep it authentic and not color it with additional power amp simulation. Going way simple, you could just use the headphone out and not use an impulse all together. It won't sound quite as good as an impulse response, but you'd be up and recording in no time.
Hey man. Thanks to your video and advice I started messing around with my amps FX send into my interface and loaded up a tube power amp vst and impulse responses. It sounds great! Why isn't this method talked about more??? I'm using a Blackstar HT Club 50 head straight out of the FX send into my interface, with a dummy 1/4" headphone jack in the return to turn stop sound from coming out of the cab. Silent practicing and recording using a full 50 watt tube amp. It's a dream come true in my situation where micing my 4x12 cab blaring 50 watts isn't possible... lol. With the real amps actual tube preamp sound it gets that "real" feeling even though the power amp and cabinet is being taken care of via plugins. It really still "feels" and sounds like an actual live amp being mic'd up. This is awesome. I have all this gear but have been using EZ Mix2 on my computer for a while now and it just doesn't really feel, well.. real. You know? Digital modeling has come a long way, but it still lacks a little bit of that tube "sag" Even my Line 6 Pod HD Pro didn't sound this good. Thanks again for your video and response.
Nice one mate! I'm looking for a cheap solution solely for achieving high gain tones at home. At the moment I'm using my Laney VC30 + Two Notes Torpedo. Sounds great, but can't do metal for sure. Even boosted by a TS it will only get as heavy as early 80's metal. You think it's worth getting the Piranha, a Blackstar HT1 or better? Cheers man!
Rafael Carvalho The Piranha actually sounds great, and it’s incredibly affordable. I also really like the 6505MH. We sell the Blackstar too, but for modern metal the Peavey would probably be the way to go.
Art T Not the case. In fact, you can experiment putting something like a 12AT7 or a 5751 in place of the 12AX7 and you’ll see how much of the tone stack and gain character changes. The LED lights, like found in numerous amps including PRS, ENGL and Framus are just there for a fun aesthetic.

Awesome! Happy it's working for you! Just be sure that you always have a cabinet connected to load down the amp and you should be good to go!
Was this straight amp? Like no after effects besides delay and what not? Im really interested in these micro heads and dont want to be dissapointed
Kita & Marek All amp! This little thing is a lot of fun. It's fantastic home practice/recording tool.

Thanks brother rock on🤘
Buy it here! www.boyntonproaudio.com/peavey-6505-piranha-micro-head/
So I can run it at 16 oms. on my 4x12 Marshall cabinet but it's only 10 wats?
Wayne Lewis Correct. It’s 20w at 4 ohms, 15w at 8 ohms and 10 watts at 16 ohms.
Is the tube for show only? It doesn't light up or get hot. The red lights in the amp are trying to fool you thinking the tube is working.
