The funny thing is the trooper to yell "HOLY SHIT" is Richard Montgomery and he was actually a guest star in a few episodes of the original as Elton Loggins
M.C Gainey (movie Roscoe) also guest stared as one of the bad guys in an episode of season 4 where his fellow accomplices posed as a phony Boss and Roscoe in order to rob the armored truck at the Hazzard Bank. The phony Boss was tall, thin and had white hair, Similar to Burt in this movie...
idontlikecops1 it was an ode to the original series of season 1/ episode 1. They drive past a parked General Lee while the camera was in the General Lee driving lol.
I will forever love the irony of Burt Reynolds playing bandit around the time the original dukes was showing to playing boss hogg. He went from a guy running from the cops in a muscle car to becoming a guy trying to stop guys who are in a muscle car running from the cops
Its awesome no doubt. Todays Charger doesnt cut it for me though. It looks like a famiky sedan mixed with a muscle car. General Lee was one of the two coolest cars on tv.
They won't give it to him. License means you'll need insurance too and no insurance company would want to go near Knoxville if he was on fire. Especially because he's on fire.
I will always love this movie and this scene especially. I know people hate on it, but I don’t care. It’s not better than the TV Show at all, but I still think it’s great. A lot of people don’t get it that these Dukes are in today’s world and not back then. It’s not going to be exactly family friendly like the TV Show was. It’s being put in a more modern direction. I still think this film is hilarious to this day. One of my favorites that I grew up with.
Yeah, compared to other films about car chases that have loads upon loads of CGI, let's give this movie some credit by respecting SOME of the show's source material by using as little CGI as the TV show did.
I feel like the people that hate on this movie are the the same people that don't understand that these aren't the same dukes that they were back in the day, them going to Atlanta is a representation of society shifting into a more modern age and this is how the dukes would act. More of a spin off of the show but it's awesome and some damn good acting as well.
They were a genuine awesome piece of engineering. Meant to drive leisurely, for dozens of years, as long as you can afford the gas bill.@@CommanderStormrune
I heard they had 25 or 26 Chargers total, most of which were 1968 and 1970 Chargers, which were converted to 1969 ones. As for the jumps, they used air-pressure-powered catapults. Meh, that’s still better than the miniatures used in seasons 6 and 7 of the TV show. That’s 1 good thing about this movie.
“Give me your goddamn driver license”
“What license?”
One of the best lines in a movie I’ve ever heard
LOL you beat me to it!
A line that I say a lot to my dad

Ritchie Montgomery was so flattered that I recognized him out in Baton Rouge one night. He’s very approachable.

Do you?
Joey Lewallen same
It is a lovely ride. I wanted to get one also cause of this tv show. Are you going to put the confederate flag, 01, and General Lee Decals on it also?
I can only dream of owning a General lee charger but with how much they cost it probably won't happen how things are now.
Either that or a 70 - 71 Challenger
