It is not our generation that finds it racist; it is those who believe a militant response to the lack of affirmative action in every situation is appropriate. Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. professed peace and equality, while Malcom X responded with militant action if priority was not given to "his" people. Priority of one over another based mainly on a characteristic which has nothing to do with the task at hand is called affirmative action. Affirmative action leads to quotas. the 69 charger wasn't as valuable as it is today because of the general lee and after the dukes of hazzard the popularity of the car went outta control, love the general!
Those were the days when television was television, my favorite friday night lineup on CBS, Incredible Hulk followed by Dukes of Hazzard and I only watched this to see Daisy Duke and then this was followed by of course Dallas.
As a gen X male from the class of 1977, the General Lee was one of my favorite TV show cars. However, KITT was the car that became my dream car. I told my young self that when I was old enough to drive my first car was going to be a Trans Am. Indeed, I kept that promise and bought a 1986 Firebird 5.0 in 2000. I've had several Firebirds and Trans Ams since then. Currently I'm driving a 2001 Trans Am. The General Lee is cool. KITT is badass. There really isn't any contest in my opinion. When given the choice between a virtually indestructible 1982 Trans Am that can drive itself, talk to you, and is loaded with an assortment of cool features including but not limited to Turbo Boost its easy to see why anyone would take KITT if given the choice between him and General Lee. No Disrespect to the General by the way.
The 68 was just a tad bit better. The wide open grill without the center divider and those dual round taillights that were inspired by rocket nozzles. The rest is the same.
The first 5 episodes from season 1 where filmed in Covington Georgia and the surrounding areas. (also some places in Atlanta) From episode 6 to the last season the Dukes was filmed in Warner Brothers studio in Hollywood LA
For real right? I guess eveyone that displays the confederate flag must be in the same boat as those ignorant racist bigots. That go around and do horrible things to innocent people. I mean mental illness doent have anything to do with it? It hurts to see a part of my childhood in this show. Get attacked like this, if you know what I mean?
Uncle Jesse: What are you doing? Luke: Welding the doors shut. Jesse: What are ya doing that for? Luke: You weld the doors shut on racing cars for safety's sake. Jesse: How do you get in??? Bo: Climb through the windows. Jesse: (Puts his hands on his stomach) Count me out. 😂😂😂
logic vs convenience. lol, everyone got that uncle that ask that question that make you think about you doing something smart and dumb at the same time. Like why everyone wants to take selfies with a selfie stick when you could easily use a phone stand and use the timer to take a group shot.

The dukes of Hazzard the show was about making it anyway they know how. That didn't stop the Duke family from staying together loving and respecting one another and caring for others.
Birth of a Legend. It's a great show, a classic show, a good-hearted show, a fun show. Sad to see the show under threat again in 2020 because people are upset because of what the Flag means to them that day- It may just be light entertainment but it's still Art & Art shouldn't be censored. it's the intention of the Artists that counts not the interpretation of an audience member or viewer.
The confederate flag is not racist, the only racists are white liberals stirring people up to keep everyone fighting with each other while they steal all the money. My home town high school mascot is a confederate soldier, it has never represented slavery. It was the battle flag for the civil war, those in office today are desperate for measures of race hatrid that they will attack everything
I used to love this show as a kid! Daisy was at the Chicago World of Wheels show when I was ten or eleven. I have a photo of the two of us, and got a kiss on the cheek from her.❤
I grew up on this show. I saw the first episode when it aired. My big wheel was my General Lee and later when I graduated to a bicycle, I would yell "Yee haw" when I took it over jumps. I had Dukes of Hazard toys and t-shirts, watched the reruns, the reunion, and the movie with Johnny Knoxville, but not until today in 2020 did I know the significance of "01".
The shape of that car still looks awesome to this day which is amazing for a car that came out in the late 60s. Many get BMW's and Mercs to turn head but this car would put them in the shade
Lot of those old muscle cars and sports cars had their distinctive styles. You could tell what was Mustang, a Firebird, a Nova, a Barracuda, but nowadays cars all look the same with hatchbacks. There is no more style or creativity in today's cars.

It didn't offend me or my brothers. The show was mandatory viewing in my house when I was growing up. Even my two youngest nephews love it.
I loved that show.
I still do!
Used to love this show when I was a kid. Never saw this episode though. That was cool. I miss the Dukes of Hazard and the General Lee in all it's high jumping glory.
I loved watching this show with my nan as a child, still watch it today. I always wanted a car like this.
I remember this! The episode was titled Happy Birthday General Lee. In the flashback we see Rosco with a mustache and a much thinner Boss Hogg.
Thank you for this wonderful historic Gem
I'm a huge fan of the dukes of Hazzard and general Lee
I remember this was on TV Fridays at 7pm, before the age of VCRs. It was as important as church to be on time.
Tell the truth - or was not as important, it was more important;)))
I missed many episodes because we left to go to church.
Don't recall seeing this. Probably haven't unless I was a kid cuz I'd remember this! Thanks for sharing!

For anyone who says the show offended them because of the Rebel flag Here's a little piece of advice shut the hell up and turn the damn channel don't cancel a good show because of your own damn opinion

Vlad 1st amendment allows him to say that so he don't have to shut up.
I am 48 years old from the uk watched it all time when I was younger , loved it and had the Dixie air horns on my cars,
may the blessings your soul, good to hear someone with common sense
notice the show clears out the flag and stated that it is a rebels flag and im black and im not offended I love the show, characters, chases and races also the general lee
Lorenzo Francis that's a battle flag not rebel the rebel flag is star wars this ain't
Lorenzo Francis Wait. What do you mean? Are they digitally removing the flag?
What are you talking about? The flag is clearly visible on the roof.
what he means is Star Wars.. the rebels.. he was making a joke..
the only thing offensive is White Liberals telling people how to think-- if your American, your a bit of a Rebel anyway-- take care
This is how legends are made
i never saw the first episode, nice to see where he grew from , thanks for taking the time to post this !
This isn't the first episode. It is from an episode in the later seasons where they look back on how they got the car.
I didn't get to see the show a whole lot when I was a kid but I did love it and the orange on that charger is unbeatable. Favorite color.
the 69 charger wasn't as valuable as it is today because of the general lee and after the dukes of hazzard the popularity of the car went outta control, love the general!
@barry herpes yeah
And so many Chargers got totaled.
Those were the days when television was television, my favorite friday night lineup on CBS, Incredible Hulk followed by Dukes of Hazzard and I only watched this to see Daisy Duke and then this was followed by of course Dallas.
I’m ten and I never lived in the 1970 - 1980s but I just think this show is golden
Enjoy it! I lived for the Dukes when I was ten! Best show ever to grow up on!
The Dukes Of Hazzard came out when I was 4. It is my favorite TV show of all time!
I miss this show so much. Use to watch it everyday after school
And thus a legend was born
And God bless the souls of those 300 and something Chargers who had to die for that legend.
Daisy duke enters room: halleluila
Love the sound of the general at red line 👍
damn i miss this show on cmt my dad has the whole set of dvds glad i can still watch these good ol boys
Hands down one of the best designs to ever come outta Detroit
Let's not forget about the true gem of Detroit. The AMC Pacer.
The 68 was just a tad bit better. The wide open grill without the center divider and those dual round taillights that were inspired by rocket nozzles. The rest is the same.
@@mopar_dude9227 one of !
@@mopar_dude9227 really ,liberals are just apaplelectic, because there's a rebel flag involved with fighting political corruption,Boss Hogg Roscoe"!!!
The first 5 episodes from season 1 where filmed in Covington Georgia and the surrounding areas. (also some places in Atlanta) From episode 6 to the last season the Dukes was filmed in Warner Brothers studio in Hollywood LA
I'm black and I wear a confederate flag belt buckle from time to time. I must be racist?
For real right? I guess eveyone that displays the confederate flag must be in the same boat as those ignorant racist bigots. That go around and do horrible things to innocent people. I mean mental illness doent have anything to do with it? It hurts to see a part of my childhood in this show. Get attacked like this, if you know what I mean?
NOPE. JUST NORMAL MY FRIEND.
Have the pair of you finished butting your heads together yet. Your nation has got more important things to worry about.
dang i been trying to get a belt with buckle like that
Your a dumbass. Thats like a jew wearing a nazi symbol
So I find it offensive to show the car without the flag on it...So there. I want to see the damn thing how it's sposed to be xD
YEEEEE Hawww
jk
It's always about context. The General Lee was never a racist symbol on the show.
i loved this show
Diamond Tiara lmao coming from a fucking my little pony fan
I just bought The Dukes of Hazzard DVD Series boxed set and the Reunion movies all on DVD. Was in my teens when the show was aired. Love it still !
😂😂😂
Fun fact the doors for the first car were welded shut lol I learned that from John’s (bo dukes actor) channel
logic vs convenience. lol, everyone got that uncle that ask that question that make you think about you doing something smart and dumb at the same time. Like why everyone wants to take selfies with a selfie stick when you could easily use a phone stand and use the timer to take a group shot.
His best line was when daisy was in jail,
It all starts with family, without family you have nothing

Talking about tapping, and timing in an engine..., on a tv sitcom?!, Yep, those were the days!
"50 years ago, owners manuals included instructions on how to adjust the valves. Today, they warns against drinking the contents of the battery." - Unknown
Nowadays shows talk about cleaning a carburetor on a fuel injected vehicle.
@@Ziggy_Moonglow I remember hearing that somewhere. I understand the removing of adjusting the values and other stuff like that because cars are more reliable, but the fact that people need to be told not to drink battery acid is worrying to say the least
"Well how d'ya git een?"
"Climb through the windas"
What a gorgeous car !
I write from Argentina where the General Lee has millions of fans. Watching the Dukes in the afternoon, after leaving high school, was the best.
The dukes of Hazzard the show was about making it anyway they know how.
That didn't stop the Duke family from staying together loving and respecting one another and caring for others.
The greatest tv show ever been on televisión. The Dukes is #1 Heehaw
The Dukes taught me more about being a good contributor to society than BLM ever will.

I used to love this show as a kid! Daisy was at the Chicago World of Wheels show when I was ten or eleven. I have a photo of the two of us, and got a kiss on the cheek from her.❤
I grew up on this show. I saw the first episode when it aired. My big wheel was my General Lee and later when I graduated to a bicycle, I would yell
"Yee haw" when I took it over jumps. I had Dukes of Hazard toys and t-shirts, watched the reruns, the reunion, and the movie with Johnny Knoxville, but not until today in 2020 did I know the significance of "01".
A true Hollywood legend, the General Lee. 👍
and on that day, another four-wheeled legend was brought into the world
im a big fan of the show and allways will be
Dukes of Hazzard.. my favorite of all time!! Love the show!! I even got a pair of Duke of Hazzard cowboy boots!!

I was an outdoor kid. My mom had a conference in another state and I had nothing to do in the hotel other than watch tv. It was the first time I saw Dukes of Hazard AND the Pink Panther. This was like 1979 or 1980 and I was hooked on both. I never went outside again. I just watched tv
back then that flag was like a normal flag and everybody who own something either have rebel flag on it or a American flag that's what it was like back then. And this tv series shows us how to use it for good and not for bad. like I said before people kill people
@Kyle Rodriguez the flag isn't a symbol of hate

The general lee is the number one car that everybody love
FALSE.
The General Lee, KITT from Knight Rider, The Bandit Trans Am, Airwolf, A-Team van and the BTTF DeLorean introduced me to my love for cars. Today's kids would never know how good The Dukes of Hazzard was back in the day.
Have them watch the movie Bullitt with Steve McQueen that's a cool car also.
