Hi, at 3:38 instead of playing Qb6 black plays c x b2 + and even if white takes with Kxb2 or Kd2 black plays Qb6+ or Qd7+ and in the next move the Knight with Qxe6. Doesn´t that work?
Both players came very close to winning this game. At the GM level a weak move can be the difference between a win and a draw, between a draw and a loss.
I know I play my games and get so mad over small miscalculations only to realize I shouldn’t even be worried about that because nobody on my level is taking advantage of tiny inaccuracies lol It’s actually really hard playing in a subpar group after watching how top level players operate. Being up a piece means very little in my rating class lol.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I lost my book by Larry Evans and Ken Smith that analyzed all the games of the 1972 World Championship and you did a MUCH better job, but this was WONDERFUL because I play the White AND the Black side of the 6. Bg5 version of the Najdorf Sicilian. The only trouble is... I play 10 g4 instead of 10. Bd3 instead. I'm going to have to find out which is better for White.
I analyzed this game via the lichess engine and it seems that after Fischer made the inaccuracy on the 36th move which was Rd5 and Spassky replied with an amazing Re4, Fischer still has a -1.0 advantage which could have turned in to a win especially for someone like Fischer. I bet Fischer was so tired at that time that he gave up on the position or didn't give it enough thought since he could have gone with a Qc5 and keep the pressure
