信じられない程素晴らしい演奏でした!!!世界一だ~。
4:40 Anyone noticed how he uses his left hand to describe his feelings towards his right hand's work?? Fascinating little insight in Yundi's mind!
Every pianist express and make the performance their own. Doesn't mean one is necessarily better than the other, as individual relation to a piece is what makes preferences. That is the beauty of Classical music, it is timeless, and each performance can convey something new, different, depending on the moment...
@Jessicapun97 And don't forget, this is a LIVE performance, the recordings you hear on your Ipod or other recordings on youtube are recordings for records, CD's & etc. They don't allow those to have any mistakes and keep recording and redoing until it's perfect. Live performances you will hear mistakes even from the most renowned pianists of the old, the sound quality of recordings are also recorded at a MUCH higher quality than this video, which this video is via web stream.
one of the best pianists i've ever heard!
To the nay-sayers who think this is too technical and not emotive. Think about Liszt for a second. This is *exactly* how he would have wanted it played. Mechanic, militant, ruthless, impossible! I love it!
+Torgie Madison No, please… Liszt was everything but ruthless and mechanic!!! He had an overwhelming arsenal of various technical gimmicks to produce thousands different tone colors. Yet what you get here is just endless hitting mail with rubber stamps, like in a post office. This is dreadful.
First video I've seen where the last note doesn't end with a shot of the pianist, but whatever. Yundi Li is amazing. All pianists are. It takes every quality to be a performer.
saw this guy on a public channel during their arts programming, performing Liszt. I was blown away!!
A masterful story being told via music. I'm totally amazed!!
This version shows more details of Yundi's hand technique which is wonderful. Yundi felt more comfortable in his homeland and played better.
OMG..I love Yundi Li....
Yundi Li = Piano Skills !!
He was A. MAZE. ING!! Thanks for posting! I never heard this piece before.
Maestro Yundi, you are magnificent, always give 200% in your performance, SUBLINE!!
liszt was way ahead of his time.
love yundi
I see comments in all sorts of things about how rude it is to clap between movements, but honestly, performers never mind. Unless it were between mvts. 2 and 3 of Beethoven 4th concerto. And in the liszt especially, its actually kind of fitting. Fantastic performance, anyways.
....che meraviglia!!! Musica Super!!!
¡¡¡¡BELLEZA ES POCO QUERIDO YUNDI LI ERES UN GENIO NATO , BENDICIONES!!!!!!( BUENOS AIRES )
Love it ! !
That's what i call a good and sharp martellato
w00t. fantastic performance!
@Jessicapun97 the fact is that people who come to music performances just to listen to and point out wrong notes, is not getting what music is about. Anybody can play a piece and hit all the right notes and perform it horribly, but that isn't what music is about, the expression of the human art.
There were hardly any wrong notes, and even if there were (which there isn't), it doesn't take away from the artists expression and energy portrayed into the music.
Fantastico! Complimenti!
@Jessicapun97 As well, since this is a concerto, the main drive of the tempo of the music is through the conductor, different conductors have different ways of pushing their musicians into shaping the concerto to what they feel it should be. Of course people will have different opinions of ALL music around the world, the world is made of different opinions anyway. but it is disrespectful to just go to a video and downplay on anyone's efforts or a collective group effort.
pure genius.
Ting Tong
genius player play Rachmaninoff concerto but yundi cannot plays Rachmaninoff concerto.
excellent !!!
Great! Pirates of the Caribbean uses the part 13:03 as the Black Pearl goes, so strong!
Lundi
makes me like Liszt! And love his bedhead 'do.
You're excellent and you looking good is not over act to seem someone.Ok you played is the better Lang Lang more and more...I respect to you and keep going on and on....
I saw Langlang playing this piece with CSO two months ago at Ravinia, haha. It's also fantastic.
@ch252525 "those who clapped between movements are morons"
By no means is this true! This concert was done in Beijing, China. It is entirely possible that Chinese protocols for a classical concert are quite different from those in the western world. They responded to the performance like Chinese, not Americans. Indeed, it is possible that the average Chinese person has a deeper understanding of, and a deeper appreciation for, classical music than does the average American.
好聽
una joya.....sin igual
去留无意,闲看庭前花开花落;宠辱不惊,漫随天外云卷云舒。--静待云迪涅槃重生而归
That's some neat piece of music! Certainly not in the level of Emperor or Rachmaninoff 2, but it's a great piece if you want some change from the mainstream..
I like this performance. It seems to me that Yundi needs to go beyond Chopin repertoire. I guess perhaps the record company has too much say about what he can play in public and "type-set" yundi to be a Chopin player, which I believe is unfair.
@ch252525 They did not clap between movements, but clapped at the begining and the end. This is a short , 18 min. concerto.
I think the audience never heard of this piece, usually when this end there is an immediate applause but the audience actually hastitated, and when the conducter said it's finished then they applaused. Oh my god.....
if you believe Martha Argenrich's version got far more soul, you shall go back to Frank Liszt wikipedia and find out who is the composer, and what his style and background were about. That wikipedia may help you to change your mind.
last week i went for the stephen hough's liszt concerto no1.but i felt yundi is better....
Eu tenho o privilégio de poder ouvir esta belíssima interpretação.
"SERIOUS", YES. "UPTIGHT" IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.
...actually, check out Martha Argerich's version right here on youtube. it's slower, but so more thoughtful and emotional. it's got far more soul.
Today, he falls
Drastically
@pianonger Best comment ever as well. Well done :)
Great McCartney song!
I died watching this. O.O
no, obviously not too hard, but i do know a better version which has more heart, which is more sensitive in its details, maybe even through rubatos, tiny pauses, different dynamics. it is true that some passages should be lighter and more careful. this version is actually too perfect, straight out powerful.
@cloudy10071 :)
10:17
I own his CD his recording of this piece, and it is absolutely beautiful. In this video, though, the entry was downright jarring. I think a large part of that is the piano, though. It's really bright, and trying to play powerful chords on bright pianos tends to give a harsh tone, even if the touch is just right for a more mellow piano. Just listening cold, though, I wouldn't think much of this performance. :/
yeah i'm with you on that. but do check out Martha Argerich's version ;)
At some parts tempo could be a little slower. Despite that still great performance!
Heh, and if jessicapun97 thought he was banging out Liszt, she should listen to his Prokofiev. Lundi knows what he is doing...
1:26 ???
@Jessicapun97 you don't have to be an editor of this or that, but fact is, you have much to learn according to what you present to me. It is b/c music is important to me that I won't allow any one ignorant to just come in & mark some1's work as incompetent when its not the case. Again, like I said, being at your age & experience shows lack there of. You don't seem like you want to learn, you just seem like you think you know all of it. You may not want to offend, but your ignorance has already.
Don't feel the orchestra was strong enough in the beginning.. But great thru everything.
wtf did jessica wrote???
the orchestra doesn't work with him... it's a little awkward.
liszt was born from a unicorn- now believe this or ill hit you .. umha take that youtube
So serious....must music "look" so uptight?
Yundi Li minus the face contortions = Lang Lang
+David Simpson You got it the other way round, dude.
@Jessicapun97 It's no different than saying to a girl "no offense, but in my opinion you are kind of ugly, I've seen better looking girls than you, & I know what a good looking girl should look like. But no disrespect."
That's essentially what you're doing, but alas, we all know about the quote "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." & that goes with music as well, to the ears of the beholder.
I hope you understand, that is what I mean by you are still young & Naive. I've been there done that.
Don´t worry sweetheart, it will never touch you.
its a conductor or a robot?
God, is there no lower limit for the selfappointed experts here? "Neobiki" is on top (=bottom) today. Close your bloody eyes and listen for heaven sakes!
you can also look on youtube: Liszt Concerto No.1. Felipe Mello, is very good.
I like lang lang performance and this
must suck even more to be the triangle player in a top orchestra lol
bunch of clowns. those who can play are out there playing, not posting criticism on FB
Just kidding, don't get mad :)
An Android! lol Seriously just different styles love it or hate it.
don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Yundi Li but the orchestra was wow...underwhelming.
FLORANYELA MORENO
My comment was only referring to this one specific performance. I haven't heard any other recordings by that orchestra, so I actually don't know them at all. Anybody can have a bad day though.
FLORANYELA MORENO
And of course, he has to say that privilege thing about the orchestra. He is Chinese...hell, I am Chinese. Saying anything else would be very, very rude. Plus, it doesn't say anthing about that orchestra's quality.
David I agree 100%. Someone of Yundi Li's calibre requires the backing of the Vienna Philharmonic or London Symphony. But it's not even the orchestra members fault either, because they are all probably competent musicians. A good conductor is also key for a riveting performance.
YoursTruly yeees!!! with Sir Andrew Davis, this concert is too beatiful!!!
I didn't like the Argerich version. She has a tendency to fly over the notes which I dislike, no matter who the pianist. Why such speed? Let us enjoy those magnificent notes, that incredible sound from the instrument.
You can find the most pointless arguments on classical music in UA-cam.
Lang Lang plays this concerto the best
オーケストラが下手くそすぎて、ピアノが引っ張って何とか曲を保っているみたい。
@Jessicapun97 Hearing from you, you sound still very immature and inexperienced in terms of being able to critique what a good pianist is. I think you will learn in time. You are still very young.
what's with the white principal players? chinese players not up to par???
*No offences to anyone*
Many wrong notes, and it's too many
And this is the fact:(
and he's skinnier too :D
He's an asian, so a robot, yes.
