9:10 Only Martha can do vibrato on the piano! 🤪
unbelievable bebung attempt hahahaha
She is always unbelievable !!!! The Best !!!!!!
Foreplay
At the Conservatory where I trained (I was a piano major), one of my piano professors taught me and his students to use vibrato on the piano. He had trained at the Oberlin Conservatory, so I assumed that's where he learned it. But none of the other piano professors in the Keyboard Department where I trained taught the use of vibrato in piano playing. So it's certainly not limited to Marta Argerich and this is the first time I've seen Marta use vibrato in her playing. It was interesting to see that. I enjoyed the performance very much. Thank you for uploading it. UPDATED: For what it's worth, Marta is not using vibrato at that one place in this piece. I don't know why I didn't pick up on this before. I watched this performance the other night again. Vibrato is used throughout a piece -- just like string musicians use vibrato -- not just on one note. I only saw her do that "wobbling" of her finger on one note, and upon reflection I think it was just a mannerism at that place, having nothing to do with vibrato. Because, like I said, if a pianist is trained to use vibrato -- and even though it is how I was trained by one of my piano professors, I was never convinced about vibrato on the piano and I resisted the concept, and my former piano professor seem to think it was a lot of hokus-pokus. It also has nothing to do with a relaxed wrist or anything having to do with a pianist's form at the piano. That mannerism would have to be used throughout the piece for it to have any bearing on a relaxed wrist, not just in one measure in the piece. That doesn't do anything. And most pianist don't play with vibrato. Today I don't either. It's physically impossible to do vibrato on a piano because the hammer does not remain on the string it has struck for vibrato to be used. If it did, it would be more like the rarely-used sostenuto pedal works on the piano.
LOL!!!
Happy Birthday, incredible Martha Argerich!
Thank you for bringing me to the wonderful world of Liszt

Nobody talks about the triangle, shout-out to that guy he nailed it
Its funny because I can't tell if you're joking or not
It's normal now,, but back in the 1850s one critic called this piece a "Triangle Concerto".
@@hendomas7435they're not joking. This piece was nicknamed the "Triangle Concerto" because of its extensive use of the triangle.
Her playing always looks effortless.
That's how genuine artists are trained. To make it look effortless, even though it's not. This concerto is quite difficult.

@@pianori11 Yes, I do eat Toppo.
The point is...TOPPO is great for it's full of chocolate inside!

Yes, her playing is so natural and seems to be effortless for her, even at the age of 78 ! She is really a very great pianist. Respect.
And she is 78 years d in this video.. Unbelievable 🌹
78 isn't dead. In fact, I am also 78 and in better shape and health than most 50 year-olds. Martha is a treasure at any age. Bet she's still playing when she's 98!

She just keeps getting better and better! Inspirational.
She certainly does somehow
How do you normally get better when you get older?
@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 She used to rush quite a bit. Her interpretations have always been sublime but slowing down a tad allows more depth and nuance to shine thru.
@@yashbspianoandcompositions1042 When you are Martha Argerich! 💓
Yes, she has truly evolved as a musician. Like she found her musical soul. Not just mere virtuosity
19:36 love how she always smiles only in the last second
The Martha's hands are like butterflies on the piano, I really love this set: Martha Argerich as a whole; Franz Liszt, and his music; the audience; the musicians, of course; internet and the anonymous people who make all this possible... I'm grateful for that...
Nothin´ more to say! Thanks for the comment.
Marco Antonio I like your comment her hands are like butterflies! Yes I agree, nicely said!! 💞
Rather large and powerful butterflies.
My brother asked me why there's a man standing and waving with a stick, I told him that he is a wizard and the stick is the wand that makes all the sound. My brother wants to be a wizard.
Epic
You made my day and your brother's career
Great explanation 😁💞
well there is someone making magic there and its not (just) the conductor
Wonderful reply
It's like magic. The kind of music you can't believe is physically possible of being performed but it is. Beautiful.
Amazing that she can still play to this high standard, she is brilliant.
Silvia Baciu
Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 is a magnificent and virtuosic piece of classical music that showcases the genius of Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. Composed between 1830 and 1849, this concerto is renowned for its technical prowess, emotional depth, and captivating melodies.
The concerto is structured in a traditional three-movement form. The opening movement, marked by its grandeur and dramatic flourishes, displays Liszt's mastery of the piano. It enchants the listener with its powerful orchestral themes and intricate piano passages, creating a thrilling musical journey.
She is in a state of effortless flow with no wasted motion in the hands and fingers whatsoever.
She has such an attitude and conveys such confidence. Hold my beer for a minute? Flawless playing..... amazing to see.
There are many fine pianists out there but none can ever reach this standard and ease of playing almost an utter contempt for those keys the way her fingers skim so accurately over the keyboard - absolutely amazing.
So true she is the best
I once heard Earl Wild play this, another amazing pianist with a monster technique. I love when Martha plays Bach, as posters have said does not rush as much and in doing so shows many more colors in the music.
Erm she's good but not the best . Marc Andre Hamelin has best technique
@@ciararespect4296 no he doesn’t
"Almost an utter contempt for those keys" Such an accurate comment 🤣🤣
The pianist who made me love the piano and become my favorite musical instrument by playing the composer who sparked my interest in classical music and the piano
She sounds magical 🧙♀️
Strong ,powerful, yet
So elegant 💕✨
She's unequalled in this piece. One has absolutely no words to define or describe it. Straight out of Heaven.
Every note of highs and lows are so clear and lovely, so wonderfully played.
Every peasant tuning their instruments, piano gods have a servant for that
Grazie a chi condivide questi video.
Complimenti a tutti!!
Merci Martha! Merci Liszt!
It's nice to hear the triangle properly. In the versions by Lang Lang and Yuja Wang the Sound Supervisor was asleep !
Stunning. Well, it's Martha--what else would you expect!
Phantastic! One would say, one pianist with four hands. Congratulations!
THIS IS PERFECTLY SO GOOD! I hope when I'm older I can still be as productive as her, performing at concerts, learning new classical pieces, and surely still having the skills. She's awesome, proving age is just a number, really.
Indeed I’m 16 now I wish when I’m 80 I can still play at concert level
What a magnificent musician she is! A gift so few have. How great that we have her to enjoy.....

Unglaubliche Pianistin. Und sensationelle Musik. Das Finale ist über alle Maßen zwingend. Wahnsinn! Liszt wird einfach zu wenig aufgeführt.
Thank you for uploading this, Max! These videos are so priceless and beautiful.
Martha Argerich is known for her exquisite beauty even in her younger years. With her angelic face and charming personality, she effortlessly captivates everyone’s hearts. Her charm and talent have always been an inspiration to many. and she will come to china soon
She is foremost one of the greatest pianists, and indeed artists, of our time. For me, her performances are always magical because of the virtuosity in her interpretations and technique. I can be listening in a quiet room, a car, backyard, or even while I'm fishing, there are always moments when her performances completely capture my attention.

1:34 The best melody I have ever heard in my entire life. Not even composers like beethoven, mozart, and bach were able to reach this level of amazingness. About this melody, Debussy personally said "I have never heard such genius in a melody".
What, in the strings?
To be honest, noone can reach Bach's harmony
@@olgaabuz6276 that may be but the discussion at hand is about melody.
Truly so, Liszt is an unparalleled genius!
The greatest pianist of all times.
Well one of them. There are many. And what specific criteria exactly does one use to determine "the greatest? Upon reflection, why does there have to be a "greatest pianist?" One of my piano professors where I trained -- who you've probably never heard of -- would be among "the greatest." She could have easily been a performance concert artist but she chose to go into academia and was head of the Keyboard Department until she retired. Her playing is phenomenal. Her playing is really no different than that of Marta's.
In my taste too
Say it this way >>
The greatest pianist - FOR ME !!!
I can agree !!!
For me the GREATEAT !!!
No doubt
The greatest definitely
Every single minute, absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing this masterpiece of musical entertainment!
Gracias, Martha!
