can anyone here please recommend which dvd/blur-ray version is available that includes the Yello soundtrack, rather than the original japanese soundtrack..which while also a rather good soundtrack, is not nearly as exciting (for me) as Yello's music, which was put to this film..presumably to attract more of a western audience. i've already bought two other versions with the original japanese soundtrack/music, and i'll be damned if i'm gonna buy yet another. its the one with the Yello soundtrack i'm after so PLEASE, anyone, which distributor and which avenue /mart do i got to to get it? the reviews and details on amazon, for instance, are completely confusing.

Ha, same here, my (then girlfriend now my wife) watched it back in the 90’s and still talk about THAT night - ended up being something cool. Every now and again I dust it off, put the headphones on and relax.
This movie was my introduction with anime culture in 1999-2003 (can't say for sure) and this song made it even better, then Ghost In The Shell movies, still my favorite.

@Panty Sniffer Has the full English audio and soundtrack by Yello. I’ve had it for months and it is the 90’s UK version. Default is French but go into the menu, change to English and it’s there. It’s only on the Pathe release though.
The japanese theme, while being a good composition, is one that fits into almost any action or drama-oriented movie. But this song brings forth the sounds of space itself, and the everlasting allure of foes, threats and friends-for-the-time-being, that Cobra always seem to get intertwined with. The rythm of this song is also in harmony with the motion of the animation - slow and occasionaly bumpy without interruptions. Not a song of a hero or villain, but a cool survivor in the midst of "conquering." When the intro eventually is over, it is because shit has gotten real. A loud explosion is heard in the movie right afterwards and there is no down-time from there. Not until the next time the credits come, once it is all over, and this song plays again. Amazing stuff.
i actually have a brand new sealed in box vhs tape of this version with the yello soundtrack and english dub. it was personally my favorite version. might have to get someone to transfer i to dvd then convert to mkv or similar and upload it to a torrent site

Discotek tried to put the UK dub on their release, but they told me that music-clearance issues were a problem (in addition to it only being available on PAL-tape). Manga ran into similar music problems and couldn't put it on their DVD either. It did turn up on a Region 2 French release though.
French remastered HD version is easy to find and includes all original songs by Yello. Luckily I understand French very well, used to live there, and I must admit that from all the nations, French are the best dubbers, they often sync to the point and they for once use really good comparison voices instead of the corny faky english/american overacted mess. No offense but Anglo/American companies just lack the dubbing experience. They just seldom have to..
No copies of their dub made it to DVD? They were probably referring to their own releases. They likely lost the rights to the Yello music themselves, and obviously Discotek never had it in the first place. I don't know a whole lot about the French release (can't even find it on the French Amazon), but the company releasing it likely got the rights from Manga before they expired, allowing them to use it (I assume) as an alternate language track.

I have been looking for it ever since I lost my VHS copy over a decade ago. I have already waste 20 bucks on the DVD re-release which is completely different. Please help me out, thanks.

Does anyone know the Japanese version of this Intro. I personally think it is much better than this English one. Its music and the harmony with the Japanese Lyrics, though i don't understand them, is just perfect.
