not the most sensitive interviewer, but it is amazing how wide open AB always is, many people would retreat and give standard answers when it gets a little too deep, but he is always so truthful and genuine. Finally watched the movie… he is brilliant as Elvis. Tom Hanks is so good too.
I was floored when l saw his performance. Just flat-out floored. If my mother could have seen Austin Butler as Elvis, she would have bawled her eyes out. Now she really loooved Elvis. Worshipped might be a better word. We saw every Elvis movie - good or really bad - and bought every album. Even Christmas was an all Elvis Christmas. So, of course, l love him, too🤭.

The most impressive thing about Austin's performance is his ability to portray Elvis in 3 different decades. That alone is phenomenal. What a great movie. He deserves the academy for dedicating 3 years of his life to perfecting this transformation.
Yes and I would add how he has approached with great humility those “senior” actors and directors who have lessons to impart to him and learned from them. It’s very interesting to watch and listen to him speak about Denzel Washington, Quentin Tarantino, Baz, Hanks, Pitt and Leo. He doesn’t act like he’s one of them or a peer but rather someone who respects what he can learn. At the different award ceremonies you can see them smile at him with an affection. He’s making a lot of friends among his seniors because of his humility and warmth.

I am recalling two other big stars who came out like rockets, Kevin Costner and Matthew McConaughey when starting out. They had small roles before getting that one big one. They definitely got the media treatment and have remained high profile all these years. I think Austin has what it takes to ride this wave. I hope he listens to his team.

What an angel he is. Having left high school at 15 and not attended college, you can tell from the way he speaks and how very bright and articulate he is, that he must have been raised very well and read and studied a lot on his own. He is such a bright light. I wish him all the best now and going forward. I hope he has a wonderful life!

Because I’m disabled. He was so sweet and so kind. I saw him about a month later at another industry event and he saw me and jumped off the stage to give me a hug. I’m so proud of his success. ❤

It's amazing how Austin's mother taking him to auditions and classes affected other people. We saw what a comfort and relief his portrayal of Elvis was for his daughter Lisa Marie. She was so used to people not getting her father even close to right and making him a joke. I am glad that she at least had his performance and that movie in her time of mourning her son and last days. That movie helped her get out of her house after 2 years.
