    Terrific! Very helpful Josh. It would be nice to have a close up view of the formed wire " mouse trap" design feature. Thanks!

      I need to do that at some point...there's a diagram somewhere in the Technical Library at freeflight.org

    Thank you for such a detailed explanation of how to do this. Your videos are a great help to a beginner in free flight such as myself.

    A spring is always better than a rubber band.👍😊. I’ve not seen your method before.

    I think the perfection loop would work good for this project. Easy to learn. I use it all the time in fly fishing.

    I remember at SEFF some years ago you had a very cool vintage looking rubber powered plane,, I was throwing a DLG and not finding much lift so I stopped to watch you launch it,, well long story short,,, It found lots of lift and you were going after it toward the road a 1/4 mile away,, fun stuff!! just say'in,, they can get away from anyone :-)

    Josh- Great tutorial. Just a couple of questions, if you don't mind. What material were you using for the dethermalizer line and what gauge is it? And what gauge wire did you use and recommend for the mouse trap release and the hooks that you formed? Thanks!

    • @joshuawfinn
      @joshuawfinn  Рік тому

      Robert, I used 20 lb spiderwire braided line and the mousetrap and hooks can be .031 (1/32") or .025" piano wire on a model this size. Smaller models can use .020", larger and you'd want to go up to .042" wire.

    Got any closeups of the mouse trap area. It was a little hard to see in the video. Ken

    could the band from the tail be hooked directly to the timer and eliminate the other mechanical lever and spring?

    • @joshuawfinn
      @joshuawfinn  3 роки тому

      Not in this case. On a model this size, the tension required to hold the tail down is so large that it would overpower the timer.

    Hi Josh: I liked the D/T video. By the way, what is the material used to cover the Fuselage?

    • @joshuawfinn
      @joshuawfinn  4 роки тому

      I used polyspan on this one. It's synthetic tissue so it doesn't sag when wet.

    Dear you. That bottle You use to actuate the cyano-glue? Is that isopropanol, or something, like baking-soda solution? Actuators are available in spray-cans in Europe, but they splash contents everywhere. Your method is so laidback and precise. Spaying such pointy jobs, is not a solution. Just curious. :) Love from Sweden.

      It's standard CA accelerator. If you take the lid off and dip it onto the surface, it works great

      Enjoy losing your planes then. This is how we build contest planes.

      tell that to Herb Kothe who used and still uses fuse timers

      Just to be clear to anyone else why this is trolling: roughly half of major contests sites now specifically ban the use of fuses.
