Great content, please post more rubber powered subject matter. You have a way of explaining and showing what people actually need to see on the subject. Thank you very much.
Glad you’re back sharing these incredible free flight builds and trim sessions. Your craftsmanship is impeccable. And yes, you inspire me to get back to my building board!
Interesting prop shape, and I see you opted for a free wheeling prop rather than a folder. Seeing your field size prompts my infinite gratitude to live in Oregon where we can fly free in the grass fields of the Willamette Valley. If you ever get the opportunity, come to one of our contests !
Great build skills from the formed wing and tail feather tips to the tight balsa joints. Gorgeous model and stunning covering job. A tip for you if I may... Ditch the wing hold down dowels and extend the wing mount rails rearward. Attach the wing with a single loop of 3/16" rubber going over both wings and under the fuselage. Then simply move the wing back to balance the model. Use this wing attachment and never add clay balance weight. You can also fly it more nose heavy on windy days and less nose heavy on calm days. I run my Gollywock CG from 65-75% back from leading edge. Here's a link to a video of my Gollywock, jump to 3:32 to see how the wing loop is used... ua-cam.com/video/pgepv2loHNE/v-deo.html It's wonderful to see others into rubber powered free flight model airplanes, keep after it and keep sharing it! May many big thermals come drifting your way, Sam Hallstrom
Hi Sam, many thanks for your super comment! I appreciate your constructive input and I will certainly consider using the balancing technique you have described in future. The only concern I have is, if the wing moves considerably then the middle of the rubber motor may end up far away from the aircraft's CG... this will of course mean that the CG changes notably when the motor weight changes if I choose to add or remove some strands of rubber for different weather conditions etc. Just another factor to consider but thanks again for your input. Cheers, Matt.
@@matthewhirst9438 Just another idea on the wing mount. On mine I moved the dowels up to the rails. I had to make the rails a little taller and longer, but it really helped with the balancing.
