It's so surreal to see these switches just resting on the table and then to see your comparatively small hand come into the scene. I'm so used to seeing the normal-sized ones that I have trouble figuring out how big these are.
I can confirm that mechanical switches are just about the most optimal fidget toy possible. I have a collection of fidget toys at my desk, and since getting a 12-switch tester from NovelKeys I almost never touch them anymore.
(Friend goes through your drawer and pulls out a giant switch) Friend: "explain this to me?" Me: "Uhh.. " (Goes to safe space feeling a satisfying keyboard) Me: "Go away!"
Indeed, for the attention to detail and the sheer amount of materials to make these, plus the tooling costs for what is, despite being popular here, a very niche product... $30 is excellent
the switches are roughly 10x bigger than normal switches, so i'd say 10x the size of the average person. The average adult male is roughly 5 ft 10 inches or 1.8 meters, multiplied by 10.. well, I think you get the idea, you would need actual Giants to use it properly lol
They are 4 times in linear size, that translates in 64 times the volume and the weight. So if the average height is 175 cm and 70 kg a person right for those switches would be 7 meters tall and weight 4500 kg. And it would have a voice similar to chyrosan22's!
For some reason I'm thinking that these would make a great foot operated D-pad. Would help disabled gamers who might not have good finger dexterity from having a stroke or for someone who outright lost an arm.
I did enjoy the video. I would love to see those switches in the background, on a shelf as if they are regular size, as a forced perspective easter egg.
It reminds me of that Cherry MX Switch tester that you often find at such stores for special gaming peripherals and it also looks like that famous Razer green switch tester in the form of a keychain. I don't know how else to describe it.
you know you have a custom keyboard "problem" when you find yourself watching oversized switches videos and ogling 121 switch tester sets. ;-P thanks for the video.
I think it would be cool if they made a switch that flattened the click bar into a click leaf. The sound would be way meatier and deeper. It may inch us closer to a MX compatible with a sound and feel closer to ALPS.
I could see value in these for foot operated switches or control panel switches. can't imagine much use in keyboards except maybe some foot operated thing for people with no arms
If I can figure out how to 3d print custom keycaps for this and how to wire it up to my pc I am so getting one. Mainly so I can slam an actual eject button when playing titanfall
um, bigger keyboard mechanism switches I don't think there will be more room for homes is there? well, I don't think e3 building will be reopened unless this covid19 thing is slowly cleared. so why is it different than the original size keyboard mechanisms?
My plan is to make that fabled 122 key BIG switch keyboard out of either brass or carbon fiber depending on wether I want to ever move the thing for the next 1000 years.
I know the Cherry MX Blue gets a lot of flak on this channel but because of its design, even with some wear no matter how subtly you press it you cannot make it click without closing the switch, or close the switch without it clicking. Once that jacket is past the bump it shoots down and does both. A clickbar or clickleaf doesn't do that and as an engineer I find that inelegant, in a way. Buckling springs, beamsprings, and even Microswitches share that same characteristic with the humble Cherry MX Blue (though they probably feel a bit nicer).
The BOX Navy switches have the clicker aligned reasonably well with the tactile bump, and I've been able to click a Cherry MX Blue without actuating it, it consistently actuates very slightly after the click, though props to them for being consistent at the very least. Most of my Navies actuate right at the clicker, the tactile bump does a good job at shooting the plunger past the actuation point, unless I deliberately press it very carefully, though they do deactuate before the click bar reset point which is fairly noticeable (again, I notice this same thing on Cherry switches, no fault to Cherry for that, it's kinda unavoidable on a switch where the click and the actuation aren't 100% aligned) but I can't really see any of this being really all that consequential when typing in day to day use. And the sound and key feel is super nice. But if you really want switches that actuate right on the click and deactuate right as the click mechanism resets, a buckling spring is gonna be so much better for that purpose than a Cherry MX Blue.
2:06 Good lord. Should such a keyboard be bought, I'd imagine it would be more practical* to use your feet for it rather than your hands at that point. Then you won't have to make space for the mouse (if there was any left to begin with). Not to mention now you don't need to go back in forth between moving your mouse hand to the keyboard since it is going to always be on the mouse. Those legs are gonna get tired fast if the user utilizes Typeracer. All jokes aside, pretty interesting for a company to release a (probably) unpractical product like this out of the blue.
The blue switch is a stapler.
I actually want to try the blue one out
yes the stapler keyboard will happen
Lol
@@a.ffirmative how is it ?

This dudes voice spawned a cigar and a whiskey cup on my hand.
Me too, except I got a mahogany bookshelf with Shakespeare in my living room along with everything else

That tease right before you pressed down on the clicky switch was dirty.
Oh man, filthy. lmao
yea that really tilted me
when
I called the police
I hope you enjoyed it, and here's a typing test of me typing on this... key.
"key" xD
*proceeds to mash the key with a fist*
The sense of scale is so weird. "Oh, normal size switches. Oh that a human haaaaaalright."
xD
i agree whit this is so wierd sense.
@LemonLord could you imagine him saying rawr in that deep voice of his?
I love that they still include the metal pins on the bottom as if we're actually gonna mount it in a keyboard
razer did at CES iirc
I meant, you can actually diy a pedal switch in which it does whatever you want it to do
Someone needs to deliver a similar product but with a transparent stem. Would make for a beautiful desk lamp ^^
Hah, that's actually a pretty cool idea xD .
It would also be handy on regular switches, to act as a light pipe, for more even illumination. The housing could be coloured to reflect switch type.
I want them all !!! Would be cool to make all the switches in ones house use these. To turn on lights and what not.
Lol
Heck yeah
Hey can u press e?
What?
Oh i mean turn off the lights
Or to make my own keyboard like razar. I would make it functional

believe it or not we all need these on our desk for some purpose

No, we only need the blue one.
69th like
My favorite thing is that theoretically these could be used as an actual switch
Just map Enter to the blue one, so you get a nice typewriter-ish feeling every time you change line.
Or it could double as a foot pedal?
Foot pedal space bar?
Beam Spring version plz!
It's said that the click would create a black hole.

props to you for actually shrinking down in size for this video
Where can I get these
Novelkeys sell them.
Chyrosran22 Oh okay.
Chyrosran22 $30 wowowowowowowowowo
lol $30 isnt bad. its a. big ass switch
Indeed, for the attention to detail and the sheer amount of materials to make these, plus the tooling costs for what is, despite being popular here, a very niche product... $30 is excellent
How tall would a person have to be to use that keyboard properly?

Might be the right size for some of those giant robots in Japanese anime.
Shinji, get in the robot and type
Which is 58 feet and 4 inches in case you were wondering
They are 4 times in linear size, that translates in 64 times the volume and the weight. So if the average height is 175 cm and 70 kg a person right for those switches would be 7 meters tall and weight 4500 kg. And it would have a voice similar to chyrosan22's!
So is no one gonna talk about how soothing his voice is?
This dudes voice has so much bass that it puts Gizmo's music to shame.
Imagine having a keyboard as big as this, you'd be typing with hands.
“Humongous coil spring weeeeeeeee!”
For some reason I'm thinking that these would make a great foot operated D-pad. Would help disabled gamers who might not have good finger dexterity from having a stroke or for someone who outright lost an arm.
Your videos are just always so wholesome.
NEEKEDITS that's the first time I've heard that adjective getting applied to my videos xD .
My man, I will not be satisfied without a typing video with these installed in a full kb. HARRUMPH!
You should narrate a freaking movie, what a golden voice

After 3 years YT finally gave me this video in my feed… I want an RGB version of these switches!
this is the most random and awesome video that UA-cam ever recommended me XD
damn your voice is so soothing.

Now all we need is a buckling spring in this size and we'll finally have the ultimate keyboard.
Where can I find o-rings for these?
Condoms? :p
I did enjoy the video. I would love to see those switches in the background, on a shelf as if they are regular size, as a forced perspective easter egg.

Make a custom enclosure for one of them, mount it under your desk, and have a foot activated PTT button for voice chat.
I LOVE this kind of stuff. People with a sense of humour are my favourite. 🙂

1:46 man that box white came in hot huh? at least he doesn't use ABS for his brakes.
finally a perfect switch for the perfect venting enter key
NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN
Two years later... "Weeeeee!". Worth it.
Do they sell PBT keycaps for those switches?
Dude, if manufacturers can't even make a SPACEBAR out of PBT.... xD
The only keycaps I've seen sold separately were just on massdrop recently: www.massdrop.com/buy/idea23-x-novelkeys-big-switch-keycaps
They are exactly 4 times bigger in all directions, not 10 times. Just got a an orange tactile. Wish I could find a blue clicky.
You didn't put the keycaps on them! How much of a difference do they make to the sound?
is it functional
i mean when you create a circuit with this switch will it work?
Yes, it is a real switch, Glarses made a keyboard with these that work.
Only with these switches should you be able to type in 48 size font amirite?
Okay, now I want a four key "Dancepad" arrangement of these so I can try to play StepMania with them!
What's the weighting and tactile bump on the big blue switch?
160 g preload, 400 g b/o, 280 g actuation force, 25 or so g tactile bump.
I think it would be cool if they made a switch that flattened the click bar into a click leaf. The sound would be way meatier and deeper. It may inch us closer to a MX compatible with a sound and feel closer to ALPS.
I genuinely laughed when I heard the blue switch click!
“Ok Jeff, you take w. I call dibs on spacebar!”
I would totally buy thet big ass keyboard dude lmaooooo
Mom: your keyboard is too noisy! I can't sleep, when you playing at night!

Damn I was waiting for the,
'And following is a typing demonstration of me typing on this keyboard'
the switches look massive but when theyre in your hands its so trippy trying to figure out how big they are
Would these actually be able to work if hooked up to a circuit?
fun to mount one to your desk for a nice fidget toy.
I love how the switch weight could actuate the average mechanical switches.
Why the big key switches can't fit in my keyboard?
totally shopped. lemme ask u this, big switches or tiny hands?
Tiny PP
I want to use this as enter or button to call air support so i can slam on it
Take a look on reddrgon k605? It''s another BIG boi.
What do you mean they're not useful, you can bind it as an alt+F4 shortcut and use it as a ragequit key
Wher do you get them? And the are soo cool man!
Are there spaces to put a giant LED?
This man's voice is simply majestic, holy shit.
i wonder how much lube it would take.
um, bigger keyboard mechanism switches I don't think there will be more room for homes is there? well, I don't think e3 building will be reopened unless this covid19 thing is slowly cleared. so why is it different than the original size keyboard mechanisms?

Man your voice is amazing u like Benedict
it actually makes me mad that Razer didn't acknowledge NovelKeys' involvement in this
So that's why they're called novel keys.
Because this is a damn fine noveltee.
Might buy one when I buy a keycap and switch puller from them.
We once used a red, industrial, mushroom-top button for an arcade cabinet project in my student organisation... somehow...this seems weirder :D
What difference does the color make? Like does it do anything

The thing where you place the keycaps looks like a Nintendo DS Lite D-Pad.
do these keys actually work like normal keys?

WOW, talk about a space saving layout.
Fun fact! The big switch battleship keyboard, if his number is correct, would weigh the same as TWO FORMULA ONE CARS
how did you do a computer voice in the start of the video&&
I want to see a full board with these switches.
Bro im so mind fucked by your hand and the switches my eyes and brain are hurting watching this video
COULD this have ANY practical or industrial use?
I dont understand nothing but yogur Voice are so relax
