I do appreciate the clicky attention. I’m not “clicky gang” or any “gang”; I like all 3 types. But it’s nice to see the clickies getting good attention. Have you heard of the new Zeal Clickiez? I preordered a bunch. They’re supposed to be modeled after ALPS tactile click switches but made for Cherry-style uses.
How did you like the clickiez? I like them, but they're better with a spring swap from 4x to 58g. Without that they don't recover as fast. With the swap, they're my favorites.
@@andrewkailhofer4802 I was actually putting them into a hotswap board when this comment notification came up lol. I have the 75g version, unmodded. They are a bit heavy (I typically like anywhere from 60 to 80g, depending on the switch), though I think they feel heavier than they actually are due to the tactility / click mechanism. The 40g version would be too light for me, and I don't enjoy switch modding, so I need to stock up on some more 75g. That said, I am really satisfied with the feel AND sound. Testing them in aluminum gasket board now, and I am thinking they will do very well in a large plastic chassis to take advantage of a deep, resonant click. Might be reminiscent of a vintage IBM board or something similar. I'll be trying that out when my Boston 120% kit arrives. Unfortunately... that's a whole darn lot of switches I'll have to contemplate buying!
Zeal would be SS tier, another interesting switch is outemu optoelectric snap spring clickies which might rival clickbars. I think she ranked them very unfairly as they sound meatier than clickbars with just as clean a click
Aye, fellow clicky gang here, I'm actually really excited when I saw this video cuz barely anyone in the community makes these types of stuff. I do agree with the opinions with some switches out there. Blues IMO is the worst ones and a lot of ppl think that every clicky switch sounded the same which is far from being true. However, I personally wouldn't put Box Jades and Navies on the S tier (probably a B tier for me) cuz there are much better switches for me such as White Owls or Arctic Foxes. (Probably that upcoming Zeal Clickez switch as well). Also one thing is that you can lube all parts of the clicky switch as well like linears, Just that you need to avoid lubing that triangle wedge at the back of the stem so it won't affect the click sound of the switch (this only applies to Box-Style and MX-Style with click bars only). Hopefully this will brighten up the misconceptions of ppl in the community about clicky switch. ^^
honestly, i really appreciate this video, it feels good to see good clicky switches actually being appreciated and not hated on because "clicky switch baad" one thing i wish people would understand more is when clickys are bad they are terrible but when they are good they can actually be really good and i wish people would stop hating on them all because of the bad switches. case in point just because alot of clickys are bad doesnt mean they all are. i hate this common misconception that all clicky switches are bad, you are allowed to have preferences but the amount of hate clicky switches get in general when there are some AMAZING ones is something i wish would be acknowledged more
I love clickies, but I've grown away from them, and now use tactile letters/numbers, and clicky function buttons. It actually makes sense to me to hear 'enter', 'delete', 'caps lock', ect. I think, even if I went back to a full clicky board, I'd have to have a stronger spring on my functions now. It just seems to be like that's the way nature intended it.
@ramshaka I was gonna throw a clicky on my numpad for when I'm crunching numbers at work, but I like your idea and will likely at least place them on the caps and some specific function keys. I'm new to this, but it's been my intent to have 2-3 different switches on my board just for the novelty and not getting bored.
my current build has box pinks for the alphanumeric keys, box jades for the modifier and punctuation keys, and box navies for esc, caps lock, and the navigation keys. the box navy on the caps lock has almost entirely solved my problem of accidentally turning on caps lock when hitting the A key, and just all around is very very fun to type on!
Dont understand why we are only 5%. Linears I generally dont get unless youre a boring person altogether. Tactile is like: yeah I understand that a button is not enough. But really having haptic feedback from a clicky has to be the most satisfying thing ever. I feel like everyone that doesn’t use clicky switches doesn’t have any fun popping bubble wrap.
Kaihl Speed Navy's - Largest tactility of any switch ever made. Fixes the sluggish long push of the Box Navy. Most cushioned bottom out of any switch ever. I call it building for "feedback." Loudest sound and biggest feel on actuation. Best switch ever made. I say this everywhere. No one every replies. Just downvotes. Tell me why I scream into the internet void and hear nothing but negativity back! I know their force curve says they are super heavy but the actuation and resistance drop(biggest ever) is so early it's effectively a medium-light switch.
Thanks for a finally shading some light on the more under-appreciated and over-hated (imo) switch type! While more of a tactile guy myself, I personally think clickies get their bad rap currently due to MX Blues's Click Jacket mechanism, which have decent tactility but terrible2 rattly sound. Very unfortunate considering that other types of clickies back in the vintage days (examples include, but not limited to: Blue/White ALPS, IBM Beam Springs, IBM Buckling Springs, and NMB Space Invader Clickies) were actually really good or amazing, with some arguably having some of the best sounds in any keyboard (referring to Blue ALPS here). For those interested in these great vintage clicky designs, I highly recommend the videos posted by Chyrosran22 on many of these vintage designs, especially to see how vastly superior many of the Clicky designs were compared to MX Blues. The recent comeback by Click jackets have been really great to finally fix the reputation of Clickies, with newer clicky designs even being attempted, such as the Snap Springs shown here, and the upcoming Zeal's MX-ALPS Hybrid, the Clickiez. Here's hoping that the Clickiez design can be brought down to more affordable pricing and more friendly tactility weighting though, so that it may become a more common new type of clicky alternative!
Crazy clicky gang here. Just wanted to share that I once went out of my way to get a sample of both NK Sherbets and Kailh Speed Navies for an experiment: thick click bar switch that has the same points of contact as a standard MX switch so that they can take lube better than BOX switches. The reason I got both is because I also wanted to address a flaw in the Speed Navies: because they're "speed" switches, their actuation comes above the actual tactile clickbar bump. That never sat right with me, and Sherbets were the only MX-type clickbar switch I knew that had full travel. I found the Sherbets atrociously uncrisp and almost rattly like click jackets. So I took the Speed Navy stem, spring, and click bar and frankensteined them into the Sherbet housing. The result is normal actuation clickbar switch that's more lube-able, and still as loud but has a slightly lower pitch than BOX Navies (and also the negative frankenswitch that just has all the worse qualities of Sherbets and Speed Navies lol). In the end though, buying a full set of both Speed Navies and Sherbets would make this absurdly expensive, so I just kept these on my sampler-tester and moved back to my buckling springs, w/c I really like better anyway. But at least as far as I know, this is the best clickbar switch I've never tried. Some of you might wanna try if you've got the money to burn.
@@epicfortiller4551 If you're new you should probably go for reds or browns. When you get find your preference then you should go for other better switches. If you dont want to buy red or browns you should probably buy akko switches. But they're pretty rare. on prebuilt keyboards
@@realboyrockstar2231 the keyboard switches I had right now is the blue the only problem is the loud of the switch and I'm still obsessed with this switch
Recently put together my first custom board with Box Crystal Navys, and yeah, it blows my old prebuilt with Cherry MX Blues out of the water. Not the best switches if you're an obsessive speed typist, but the tactility is so intensely satisfying that I don't mind dropping a couple WPM. I've personally never "clicked" with linear switches, from the limited experience I've had with them
Clicky switches are my personal fave & dont bother me as I was raised usuing an IMB Model M keyboard. Way louder that a tactile or linear keyboard ever thought of being. Lol
I fully agree with Box Whites being S-Tier... I used to use MX Blues forever for typing, then I tried greens and they were TOOOO heavy, then I checked out box whites, and fell in love.
@@TheKillerZmile I was a bit confused - originally she said box whites were S tier - and then they sort of ended up in C tier based on what Jake said. For a clicky daily driver, I think its hard to beat whites - I would put them as A tier personally, but understand that them being so light (thus the 'linear' feel) is going to make them a bit polarizing.
It really is so amazing how far you have come in your UA-cam journey. It is so cool how many UA-camrs have featured you, and also that are in your videos. I can’t believe you are even featured on kbdfans, which is LITERALLY THE KEYBOARD GO TO STORE! So cool, and keep up the great content.
agree on box whites, ive had most of the hyped switches, box whites are S tier, they have the best feel and sound if you're looking for soft comfortable clickies. if you're looking for heavy switches go elsewhere. only alps could beat box whites
The only reason not to use clicky switches is if you need to be polite and not annoy people around you. I love clicky switches, they just have the best feel to them. I personally don't understand linear switches, it's like typing on a mushroom. My perfect switch would feel like you are breaking a twig, just without the sound...
I don’t really choose it, the clicky switch chose me. Good to know that kailh speed pinks are decent and I can lube them to make the lift off ping go down. I wondered why only some of them pinged. For those who want to know, I DO feel that they activate just before the bump which might cause some typos or accident typing when setting your hands on the keyboard more heavily. Something someone else pointed out on Reddit that I noticed on my own. Probably my own typos too hehe. Hope that informs someone :)
As a clicky gang enthusiast, I must defend the honor of my main switch the Box White. It provides not only a good click sound (which anyone should want) but it's lighter weight needed makes it one of the few clickys that are truly as good at gaming as they are for regular typing. And even then, they still provided a good tactility that would be missing from a linear switch. It's basically a jack of all trades switch, it's not exceptional for many use cases but it provides a good experience in all of them, which for people like me is a god send
I do enjoy clicky! Just prefer clicky with a bit of weight. Lol just realised (after checking), my first custom keyboard which i put together was using Kailh Box Jade! 😊
There isn't a lot of content made for clicky switches so thank you for making this video! Learnt a lot about a whole bunch of clickies I've never heard of.
Even thought I have ¨outgrown¨ clicky switches as my daily drivers, I still like ¨loud-ish¨ switches on my keebs. Mainly clacky swiches nowadays. But having said that, I am very tempted to try out the new Glorious Raptor Clicky switches on one of my keebs just for the fun of it. I saw a couple of reviews on them at the end of 2023, it would be cool to have your opinion on them as well. Also here is something to ponder. Does the keyboard build really matter when you use clickies?
I would swap the crystal pinks to be higher and box jades lower because of the rebound feel. Midnight jades strange,y doesn’t have the same rebound issue and probably belong up there with crystal pink as my two S tier clicky switch.
I'm 100% scouring the world for this tier list, as it's so hard to find an in-depth tier-list (or just personal opnions) about different Clicky Switches. Thanks for your insight! Although I gotta be honest, you should changee your Video Title to at least have the word "clicky" so that it can reach more viewers :v
NK Sherbets are extremely tactile and violent but so inconsistent from switch to switch that some of them feel like they get stuck and need extra force to smash them all the way down (and the tactile bump it feels so crunchy and gross... sharp, yes, but not crisp). I enjoy that they have significant pre-travel, but that’s it. I couldn’t wait to take them out of my board lol. It’s possible I could have gotten a bad batch, but the quality and inconsistency was frankly inexcusable.
You have done a good deed and pointed me to Kailh White Owls. I've been using Box Whites but was never satisfied with the tactility and the click was more of a "Tick" than click.
Clickies are the best! I love all clickies no matter how obnoxious. I am used to old keyboards and typewriters growing up so the noise doesn't bother me at all. Plus I reallyyy hate most tactiles due to the feel and lack of sound which doesn't help when I'm typing for long periods of time
Very happy to see you being sponsored by micro center, never see anyone appreciate them. My girlfriend coincidentally discovered that she likes clicky switches a couple of days ago, linear & tactile gang persevere, and this video came at a great time. Keep up the great work, I love binging your videos, Betty! Great video as always!
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Oh heck yeah! I’m assuming you’re going to look at the Holy Panda X, Gateron X & Oil Kings? So many possibilities! Will look out for those videos + like and comment
I prefer linears for general purpose, but I feel like certain keys really should be clicky. Example, I'm contemplating swapping my entire F-key row on my Keychron V1 (including the escape and delete key, the arrow keys, and the pgup/pgdown/home keys) a heavier click type. generally when I'm using those keys I want a nice firm tactile (YES, YOU DEF CLICKED THIS SWITCH WITH AUTHORITY) feel. Also, I do a lot of VR flight simulator stuff, and was going to get 1 or 2 "numpads", like the Idobao Montex numpad or the Keychron Q0 plus for use as multi-function button panels. I really want them to have a stiff tactile CLICK. something to shatter the world if you will lol. Its a shame none of the gateron clickys really ended up in S-tier. I really like gateron KS-9 pro 2.0's in yellows for m every day typing keys.
This is exactly what I was looking for!!! Finally someone did it!!!!!! Thank you!!!! 🙏 Nothing better than a super insulated chassis with lubed clickys!!!
I just wish the names and brands of these were more clear in the video. Pretty please make proper sound tests for all of these and label them on the video. You’ll be my best friend forever.
Kailh is underrated, until just recently. They have been booming into the mouse switch market lately. Started with modders and now just about every high end gaming mouse has Kailh gm8.0's
I agree 100000% with you at 6:12 when you said you would put Jade and White in S-Tier then Navy in A-Tier. Personally I've tried about 8 different clicky switches and I've found Box White to be my favourite for gaming and speed typing. If I was only typing I'd go for Box Jade but if I was heavy-handed I'd agree with the Box Navy. Nice tier list thanks for posting
I also prefer navy to jade! Not because I like the heavy spring per se, but because the jade's combination of the very thick clickbar and the light spring means that when I've pushed past the clickbar, I really can't help but bottom out. This, to me, is *more* fatiguing than the heavy spring in the navy. I have the same problem with Zeal's new Clickiez - once I've pushed past the leaf spring, there's too little force stopping me from pushing all the way. They'd probably be perfect if they had *just* a little less tactility. Pink / crystal pink is pretty much my ideal switch, so far! But I'll try out white owls for my next build.
I have Pinks. Like them a lot. Recently tried Crystal Jades. Holy f*ck, i feel like im getting sixpack soon on my fingers. I think, they will be uncomfortable for long period of time. Soon going to order White Owl's.
@5:58 I feel exactly the same, i like jades but they are a bit too fatiguing for my hands, so I only have them on the space bar and modifier keys. Everything else I have as box white. My husband went full jades and loves them.
This is like a loudness tier. As far as clicky the box whites are A possibly S due to the nice loudish click and lighter on the push. Box jades are by far the loudest I've ever heard or owned, but they are very heavy, but still A to S tier... Box navy is not as loud as I thought they would be, but very comfortable to use. One not on here the budget clickies Akko TTC Gold Blue Switch is comparable to the box white/pinks, but a better click. Wither way I would put this list close to my own. Other than what I said... Cool little list. Too bad everyone is going for creamy, and thocky linear sounding builds. Something I was never really into, but after learning mods, and building a few keyboards. I will have to say thocky, and creamy is just so much better feeling, and sounding!
If there was ever a justification for a Y or Z tier, the Mute Box Jades would be it. They feel weird in your hand, but put them in a keyboard and they suddenly feel like MX Browns. Such an abomination. You'll have to update your list when the Zealio Clickiez are out. Those are going to be completely different: more like an ALPs switch than a bar or sleeve style switch. IMO, they're either going to be A tier of F tier, but I'm clueless as to which.
i really like clicky switches alot. they remind me of the vintage keyboards. nothing beats the sounds of an old ibm keyboard thats for sure. it makes it feel more mechanical imo the way it should feel. def gonna have to try some kailh box switches for sure. thought about trying out some durok poms, creams, and tangerines as well. the only thing i dont like about box switches is the double click with the bar.
oh then you're absolutely gonna love Zeal Clickiez, which are modelled after none other than the vintage SKCM alps series by incorporating the click leaf mechanism into modern mx compatible switches. They have a single click which when compared to kailh box clicky switches are much more deep and bassy yet still crisp. Also if you like vintage sounding mechanical keyboards, I recommend using them in the NCR 80, which are basically hollow plastic chassis' that act as a resonance chamber and really bring out the sound of the switches. Basically they're like modernised versions of vintage mechanical keyboards, and in my opinion they sound better than the buckling springs found in the ibm model m with buckling springs (although that probably is due to them being compatible with durock v2 stabs and having less rattle or spring ping as a result of their mx housing design. The only things that you should be warned about are that quite a few people find the tactility a bit overbearing and they're pretty dang expensive, but from your description about your preference, I believe you should definitely check them out!
@@Sh0yo thanks for the info and suggestions shoyo. I'll look into the zeal clickiez for sure. I ordered the space 65 r3 and I'm just waiting for it to finally get here. Can't wait as it'll be my first real build. I ordered the purple and green version. I also ordered the gmk mitolet keycaps for it. I also got the astronaut floating in space spacebar for it. Can't wait as it's gonna be pretty damn killer haha. I want the tkl so I'm gonna keep an eye out for a gb on it.
@@parkersgarage4216 ah cool, that sounds pretty nice. I’m currently looking into my first build, which will probably be around the price range of 200 US dollars (currently I have the Anne Pro 2 with blue switches which I got back when I first found out what mechanical keyboards were and wasn’t aware of the click bar mechanism). I recently started looking into some good clicky switches as I still want to fulfil my goal of having nice sounding switches with a crisp click that I had initially thought would be in blues, and not long ago, a friend of mine introduced me to the zeal clickiez in the NCR-80, which I instantly wanted to replicate the build of, although I think I’m going to stay with linear and tactile switches until there are more variations in terms of the tactility for the zeal clickiez and it becomes a bit more within my price range. Enjoy your build!
@@Sh0yo sweet, I bought a womier tkl w blues for a first ever board. I'd like to try some linear and tactile switches as well. Just to find the switch I like the best. I'm hoping it turns out nice which I don't know why it wouldn't. You looking into anything particular for a first build?
Wish they had a micro center in Florida, sounds fantastic. Really wish I had stopped by one in Denver or Chicago the times I’ve been because I feel like I could wander around like an idiot for hours just admiring shit I can’t afford lmao. More stores like micro center need to exist!
Thanks for making a video for all 5 of us that love clicky switches. 😂 I am now eager to build my first mechanical keyboard with box whites since I bought a stock clicky mechanical keyboard and have loved it. I plan on modeling mine after your tournament for the best looking keyboard. I’m going with the drop carina, box whites and white pom keycaps, although I’m going to try modding it a bit with tape on the back of the pcb etc to make it sound a bit deeper instead of clicky. I do have to admit I love the sound of a deep marbly keyboard.
Box Pinks are the best click-bar switch, IMO. Perfect balance between tactility and spring weight (with no return issues), and they have a more muted sound compared to Jades/Navies.
Yep, currently they're a bit too tactile, but if Zeal can make new versions that have a less extreme tactile bump to properly match the tactility and weighting of alps switches that provide a full travel key press rather than a tactile drop that forces bottoming out which can be a bit fatiguing when typing, as well as making the contact plates a bit more identical to the alps structure that results in a more rounded tactile bump.
Box Whites are the GOAT for me. I like the slight tactility / click and the lighter spring and actuation force. Basically the reasons Randy doesn't like it is why I love it lmao
Hey! No Cherry MX Green? I do so like a clicky switch. strange. I'm rather new to Kailh switches as I recently bought an Atreus keyboard, so just when I get comfortable and fall in love with the Box White, I find this and discover its regarded as a notch above, "meh!" I've heard about the Navy and the Jade, but those were not an option in a pre-built keyboard that I found.
i tried all the Kailh boxes in this video and I still find that the Box White is by far the best to me for a daily driver, maybe jade/ navy for heavy-fingered keys like space / enter /ESC. the Owl is definitely a disappointment to me actually.
First keyboard has box jades XD Honestly though before buying a sample pack I didn't realize just how much of difference the click bar really makes. the gateron blues vs the box jades truly are night and day
I just got the switches, board and keycaps to make my first custom board, but since probably 2010 or 2012 I've had at least one blue switch keyboard floating around, it's what made me love mechanical keyboards.
Try boba u4t or Coffee Chip Ice cream. Those are my favorite tactile switches. You get to enjoy the great tactility without getting bombarded with clicky sounds.
It's nice to see clickies getting non bad attention, because although I like linear and tactiles I see how people like some of the better clicky switches, but I still don't see why anyone would like cherry mx blues or a knockoff, those just sound plain bad
Idk I went box white and everytime I try a more expensive tactile and/or clicky switch I go back to the white. I like to game and the white is so lights so it has linear qualities while still being clicky(which I prefer). I wish box white were louder but it’s always at the cost of its light feel. White is my choice for S. I just spent an hour and a half switching my keyboard with the whites with my main keyboard that had the glorious panda. Panda for work, clicky whites for home. I would say Box Jade are the best sounding ones I own but I keep the whites in because the jade just doesnt have the light feel I prefer.
Hey you - should I buy a DROP CTRL HIGH-PROFILE with Kailh Box Navy and MT3 /dev/tty or wait for a Input Club Keystone Analog Mechanical Keyboard with Keystone Beam Spring Analog Switches?
hello i am new to the mechanical keyboard world pls can you help i just got an anne pro 2 and i have a problem i got an alluminum case and cherry red mx switches but idk why it sound pretty bad and it does a metallic sound or idk maybe it's the case or spring sound idk can you help me please
I think box navies are too hard for daily use. Personally i have them just for several keys like Caps, Windows. Never had crystal Jades, only the normal Jades and i don't like them. Feels too slow in return. My fav for now are crystal Pinks.
@@SwitchandClickOfficialActually, this video made me finally ordering my first custom mechanical keyboard. I have been watching videos about it for around 2 years and now decided that it was time. Keychron Q2 with box jade switches and some Ducky PBT keycaps
Even after after 2 years since my first clicky switch board, I still love using clickies. I use the likes of JWKs linears and tactiles, but Outemu Blues still hit a spot for me.
Even though I prefer the smoother sounds of the other twos, there's something about a clicky keyboard that brings out a childlike urge to just press every key on the keyboard.
i like the box white, i dont like heavy ass switches when im gaming imma be honest x) I just like hearing the sound and the slight feeling of the click, since I love using the purple switches from razers huntsman, the box white was an easy transition for me. Much better sound and less rattle compare to a razer keyboard switch but still have the fantastic light clicky feel.
Clicky switches are what got me into mechanical keyboards and PC gaming in general I love box jades I will never use a keyboard for anything unless it has those in it
hi fantech 884 ??? =need info can you please tell me which optical switches are used on this keyboard? do you have any experience or info on those switches? i know thay are orange optical thats all i know
I just got a Keychron V3 Max with tactile Gateron Jupiter bananas. I really like how it looks, and the keycaps are ok too, but I’m thinking that if I keep it, I might want to go for clicky switches. Maybe I’m more like Chyrosran22 though. But buckling springs or Alps switches won’t fit. Box Jades could be my next best bet.
Hey what set of keycaps are those? I'm looking for something that isn't thocky (crazy I know but I'm one of the 5 ppl in the clicky gang) and I wanna hear more of the click from the switch rather than the keycaps hitting the switch sound. Dampeners are cool but they lower the travel distance which feels weird because I bottom out
I LOVE clicky switches! Thank you for showing some love and exposure to different clicky switches! I’ve always stuck to Cherry MX Blues and Gateron Blues but now after seeing all of these other clicky switches, I may give a different clicky switch a try. Awesome video! ⌨️ 😁
Hi, I had my first keyboard on a clicky switches and because of it I hate linear, or tactile switches. I bought Varmilo Va108m Koi, and website glitched, and I bought keyboard on cherry mx brown’s 👍. So I want to ask for advice, can you please ask me what is the best clicky switch? And if you can please say best grease for switches, what you recommended, thanks!!!!

honestly, i really appreciate this video, it feels good to see good clicky switches actually being appreciated and not hated on because "clicky switch baad" one thing i wish people would understand more is when clickys are bad they are terrible but when they are good they can actually be really good and i wish people would stop hating on them all because of the bad switches. case in point just because alot of clickys are bad doesnt mean they all are.
i hate this common misconception that all clicky switches are bad, you are allowed to have preferences but the amount of hate clicky switches get in general when there are some AMAZING ones is something i wish would be acknowledged more
I love how clickies are making a comeback with kailh's clickbar system and especially zeal's clickiez
hate click jacket's mostly , but kailh click bar's are avensome to type on , and sound wise aren't as annoying :P
clicky bad 🙀🙀🙀🙀
@Male Sensitivity if you dont have anyone around you
Honestly, hand anyone an IBM 5251 and a good blue alps board and you'll change them forever.
Never thought about doing this. Think that may be the route I take. Thanks
S Tier
Novelkeys x Kailh BOX Jade
Novelkeys x Kailh BOX Navy
9:13 Kailh White Owl
my current build has box pinks for the alphanumeric keys, box jades for the modifier and punctuation keys, and box navies for esc, caps lock, and the navigation keys. the box navy on the caps lock has almost entirely solved my problem of accidentally turning on caps lock when hitting the A key, and just all around is very very fun to type on!
Yes, Thank you!
Thanks for the info!
Need to update this video with Zeal Clickiez
The main reason I got obsessed with mechanical keyboards were because of sounds and how clicky some of them are LOL
I was also obsessed with the clicky switches but now in the future hopefully I could get the red switches or brown switches
@@epicfortiller4551 dude there are legit soo many linear and tactile switches 100x better than reds and browns for the same price
@@speedjunkie813 the browns I think were the popular switch I still am going to prefer the browns
I've personally never "clicked" with linear switches, from the limited experience I've had with them
I’m so excited for the Zeal Clickiez, I like Jades but the click is annoying, but the Clickiez switch sounds wayyyy deeper and fuller and I love it!
Clicky switches are my personal fave & dont bother me as I was raised usuing an IMB Model M keyboard. Way louder that a tactile or linear keyboard ever thought of being. Lol
I fully agree with Box Whites being S-Tier... I used to use MX Blues forever for typing, then I tried greens and they were TOOOO heavy, then I checked out box whites, and fell in love.
kailh white owl is s trier
kailh box white is c tier
@@TheKillerZmile why would whites be so low? im curious because i wanna buy the white v2s at some point
The song is Galdin Quay - FFXV
It really is so amazing how far you have come in your UA-cam journey. It is so cool how many UA-camrs have featured you, and also that are in your videos. I can’t believe you are even featured on kbdfans, which is LITERALLY THE KEYBOARD GO TO STORE! So cool, and keep up the great content.
Awww thank you for sticking around this whole time and for the support 😊
agree on box whites, ive had most of the hyped switches, box whites are S tier, they have the best feel and sound if you're looking for soft comfortable clickies. if you're looking for heavy switches go elsewhere. only alps could beat box whites
Glad to see my favorite switch, the Box Navy, getting some more love.
Nice deskmat ;)
hi hipyo
thanks 😉
ur a deskmat
There isn't a lot of content made for clicky switches so thank you for making this video! Learnt a lot about a whole bunch of clickies I've never heard of.
Glad you liked it!
I love how this list is basically just Kailh x)
You have done a good deed and pointed me to Kailh White Owls. I've been using Box Whites but was never satisfied with the tactility and the click was more of a "Tick" than click.
Reading this made me decide on White Owls for my first keyboard!
Thank you so much! That's so cool haha I plan on taking a look at tactiles next and then linears
You should do this with all types of switches, the take rhe top ten of each then rank them.
This is exactly what I was looking for!!! Finally someone did it!!!!!! Thank you!!!! 🙏
Nothing better than a super insulated chassis with lubed clickys!!!
I just wish the names and brands of these were more clear in the video. Pretty please make proper sound tests for all of these and label them on the video. You’ll be my best friend forever.
I really like "thocky" switches but there is something so nostalgic and cool about clickies to me that make me like them a lot.
Kailh's low profile clicky switches are underrated. Choc Navies are my first choice for any low profile keyboard that would actually support them.
@5:58
I feel exactly the same, i like jades but they are a bit too fatiguing for my hands, so I only have them on the space bar and modifier keys. Everything else I have as box white.
My husband went full jades and loves them.
box navy is my jam. i like the weight.
As someone who's recently started daily driving kailh box pinks, I really like seeing clickies get some form of love in this community.
Can you *PLEASE* rank every other type of switch?
*P.S.* I love my Techware Phantom L Brown keyboard 🤌
Nice video to see, running a Jade/Navy mix on all my boards. Any updates? It's been 2 years.
Man I like mute jades, I like the sharper tactility than a normal tactile switch with way less noise
i really like clicky switches alot. they remind me of the vintage keyboards. nothing beats the sounds of an old ibm keyboard thats for sure. it makes it feel more mechanical imo the way it should feel. def gonna have to try some kailh box switches for sure. thought about trying out some durok poms, creams, and tangerines as well. the only thing i dont like about box switches is the double click with the bar.
oh then you're absolutely gonna love Zeal Clickiez, which are modelled after none other than the vintage SKCM alps series by incorporating the click leaf mechanism into modern mx compatible switches.

Some people: Tactiles are cool

Me, running all 3 types of switches: 🤓
Thanks for making a video for all 5 of us that love clicky switches. 😂 I am now eager to build my first mechanical keyboard with box whites since I bought a stock clicky mechanical keyboard and have loved it. I plan on modeling mine after your tournament for the best looking keyboard. I’m going with the drop carina, box whites and white pom keycaps, although I’m going to try modding it a bit with tape on the back of the pcb etc to make it sound a bit deeper instead of clicky. I do have to admit I love the sound of a deep marbly keyboard.
the 3 s-tier are
kailh box jade
kailh box navy
kailh white owl
thank you my friend
A list like this for all the switches is a no brained, why isn’t there one lol. I’m so lost
I have jades in like...4 builds. I love them.
same
Box Pinks are the best click-bar switch, IMO. Perfect balance between tactility and spring weight (with no return issues), and they have a more muted sound compared to Jades/Navies.
Box Pink gang here too
The spring weight for box pinks are too much but I love their sound and feel regardless. I just wish I could use them practically.
Is that the final fantasy 15 campfire theme in the background?
We need more click-leaf style switches, Zeal's new offerings are a massive step in the right direction
Basically the reasons Randy doesn't like it is why I love it lmao
haha!
Is that the Microcenter in Houston? That exterior be looking mad familiar lol
Hey! No Cherry MX Green? I do so like a clicky switch.
strange. I'm rather new to Kailh switches as I recently bought an Atreus keyboard, so just when I get comfortable and fall in love with the Box White, I find this and discover its regarded as a notch above, "meh!"
I've heard about the Navy and the Jade, but those were not an option in a pre-built keyboard that I found.
i tried all the Kailh boxes in this video and I still find that the Box White is by far the best to me for a daily driver, maybe jade/ navy for heavy-fingered keys like space / enter /ESC. the Owl is definitely a disappointment to me actually.
First keyboard has box jades XD Honestly though before buying a sample pack I didn't realize just how much of difference the click bar really makes. the gateron blues vs the box jades truly are night and day
13:35 This is why you needed an "E" tier. :)
My favorite clicky switches are the ones that vintage keyboards have, they're extremly heavy and loud and they sound very deep.
Box White V2 weren't out when you were making this video, right? Where would you put them on this tierlist?
Do the same with Tactile and Linear please!
It is going to take 5 hours of video
I just got the switches, board and keycaps to make my first custom board, but since probably 2010 or 2012 I've had at least one blue switch keyboard floating around, it's what made me love mechanical keyboards.
I went from MX browns to Box Jades. I've only been using them for a couple days but I have to say that I'm really happy with the feel and the sound.
Try boba u4t or Coffee Chip Ice cream. Those are my favorite tactile switches. You get to enjoy the great tactility without getting bombarded with clicky sounds.
Clicky gang rise up! Love my Kailh Box Whites. Also have some Jades on board; they're alright, a bit too heavy and tactile for me...
What do you think about the HyperX blue switch? uploaded a sound test of it a few days ago..

I think box navies are too hard for daily use. Personally i have them just for several keys like Caps, Windows. Never had crystal Jades, only the normal Jades and i don't like them. Feels too slow in return. My fav for now are crystal Pinks.

So much effort and love is clearly put into this channel and its perfect. Clearly loves doing content for their channel. Great channel
Glad you enjoy it, thank you!

i like the box white, i dont like heavy ass switches when im gaming imma be honest x) I just like hearing the sound and the slight feeling of the click, since I love using the purple switches from razers huntsman, the box white was an easy transition for me. Much better sound and less rattle compare to a razer keyboard switch but still have the fantastic light clicky feel.
Clicky switches are what got me into mechanical keyboards and PC gaming in general I love box jades I will never use a keyboard for anything unless it has those in it
Loving the collaborations.
Thank you

can you please tell me which optical switches are used on this keyboard?
do you have any experience or info on those switches?
i know thay are orange optical thats all i know
I just got a Keychron V3 Max with tactile Gateron Jupiter bananas. I really like how it looks, and the keycaps are ok too, but I’m thinking that if I keep it, I might want to go for clicky switches. Maybe I’m more like Chyrosran22 though. But buckling springs or Alps switches won’t fit. Box Jades could be my next best bet.
Try Gateron Melodic, Chosfox Arctic Fox or Zeal Clickiez. Feel like these are some of the best current clicky switches.
I LOVE the clicky switches. Whenever I use a mechanical keyboard, I want to feel like I’m back working at the San Francisco Chronicle circa 1932 😜😂
Thank you!

Quick Question what lube would you recommend for beginners? because soon i might start building keyboards.
Please do linears or tactile next 🥰
