Hi Greetings from France ❤️. I love to crochet but NEVER KNEW the RIGHT SIDE AND WRONG SIDE. I learnt to crochet a bolero from a UA-cam tutorial in 2004. But I had NO CLUE of the right and wrong side. So I put a stitch marker at the beginning of the 1st row and thereafter every 11th row. But today YOU SOLVED THE MYSTERY and I am truly grateful for this incredible help. Wowwwww A BIG THANKYOU. I started knitting dolls hats and booties when I was 4 years. My Mom taught me the RIGHT and WRONG SIDE. A grateful hug from your 73 year old fan. 🤗❤
I’ve never been able to tell which is the right side and which is the wrong side because it was never explained to me. I just went by the “pretty side?” Now, I know how to tell the right side from the wrong side! Thank you so much for sharing this video! 😊
The way I remember when working is if my beginning chain/slip stitch tail is on the right then it’s on the WRONG side and vice versa. It is the opposite if you’re left handed.
Yes! That's another great way to determine what side of the fabric you are on. Thanks so much for sharing this since I did not include that in the video (in my article though), some might find this easier. I don't always remember this, so it's easier for me to see what side I'm on by the stitches in the first row (method 2 of video).
Yep. That is the best way to remember, for me, for such things as mitten cuffs or tubes that need to be joined then continued in the round. Regarding a regular project, imo, the back always looks different than the front.. so ws/rs is easy. ( i'm odd though.. I quite often prefer the back or ws more lol..
@@SewHomey looking for the V is changing my life, lol! I know finding the right side when doing ball shapes, I flip it in and out so much trying to figure it out, it almost looses shape!
I wasn’t sure about the right side of my first little cardigan made with half double crochets. I now know! Thank you so so much for this information. I will keep this video for future reference! And the commenters are helpful too.
Very useful! I never knew so I always thought starting, the tail is on the left. If I'm watching a video that's what I look for in the video because usually they don't sew in the tail right away. Thank you for sharing ❤
I have been searching UA-cam for help on this cause I just downloaded a pattern where it says to stitch into the right side so when I found your video this was such a great help thanks 😊

I'm new to crochet & this is exactly how I determine front & back.
Thank you! Great explanation! I always question myself in amigurumi like ball shapes. Thank you!
I know what you mean! Hope this helps with that 💛

Thank you.... I found out just how important this is in my current project of a wearable.
Oh yes this can be extremely important for that!
3:09 if I am doing a graphgan, and use a fhdc what way do I read the pattern for the next row?
I’m confused. If one row indicates that it is the “right” side. Wouldn’t each row above and below it be the backs of the stitches there?
Darn it! I only got 4
This was super helpful! Thanks so much
Great to hear that it helped!
Umm do these methods work for lefties? Reading stuff online is confusing.
Should a left handed person only follow patterns for left hand crochet? Or is it ok to crochet either way? 😊
Nope! It's okay to crochet both ways!
Thank you for confirming and your quick response cheers!!
Thank you for sharing the details. To be honest I read through the blog that you wrote!
You are so welcome! I'm glad to hear that!
Sometimes I get confused when I have ribbing at the bottom of something
look at where your tail is and that will tell you what side you are looking at.
