Leo was going crazy that 4th game. Watching this live game 5 broke my heart I rllyyy wanted Leo to win but it’s alright he’ll bounce back

I used to believe this, but not anymore.
I’m at the acceptance stage as well, Leo will never be on top again. He might win the odd tournament but he’s gone from the pinnacle of consistency to the pinnacle of inconsistency
@@Tode_DT Same happened to Zero and same is already happening to Spargo. There's more things in life besides being the best player for the complete lifespan of the game, I just wish Leo still enjoys to play the game and he doesn't get that feeling of burnout that Zero went through.
Probably will NOT bounce back to what once was, but that's okay, still enjoy watching this Mkleo.
Watching that last back air not come out before Leo hit the ground broke my soul
It did come out. Marth’s range is just deceptively short so the hitbox was off by like a pixel. You can check frame-by-frame.

its the auto turnaround nonsense that bothered me. watch again at the end as leo reads the roll with a back dash turn around ftilt but the silly mechanic prevailed. I used to compete at a pretty high regional level and glad I don't put myself through it anymore lol

@@utacca If you freeze frame, you can see the blue streak of the sword seeming to pass right through the top of Terry's head. Maybe there should have been a hurtbox there.
@@Hermitage171 I looked at Marth's bair hitboxes, between frame 7 and 8 there's a small gap with no hitbox (as in a hitbox never appears there because the arm changes positions too fast). Terry's head just so happens to be in that gap. I'm assuming the game calculates hits based on something being inside a hitbox each frame, as opposed to something being "in the path" of a moving hitbox, and that's why the hit didn't register

@@knaydr No I'm pretty sure hitboxes are interpolated to avoid such issue. I think the Bair was just 1 pixel off

Si no hubiese fallado el backer al final, hubiera ganado ese 5to duelo y el match... Siempre es un gusto ver a esos dos batallar, porque es un altísimo nivel.

1. Leo missed several kill opportunities in this set (especially as Marth) and it had nothing to do with landing sours. He straight up through out attacks that could have been killing moves or combo starters.
2. He also didn't shield Terry's Crack Shoot offstage. He actually could have killed Riddles at one point, had he blocked a Crack Shoot then used Dolphin Slash OOS. Riddles did the same moves in the same situations and went unpunished, in the end.
3. Leo ran into so many attacks. It's as if he wasn't even trying to space. He just rushed in and got hit by jabs or something. All he had to do was wait at random moments. Break up the pressure to confuse Riddles. He didn't do that here. Just constant aggression.
A lot of people will use this set as ammo for Marth being bad, but Leo simply messed up. Lucina wouldn't save him for playing too fast, missing punish opportunities, and missing edge-guards. As we see, the Joker didn't save him from this either.
What a set!!!

@@Hover113 It’s more so that he was slightly out of range, but all the same in the end. I’m only saying it should have hit because the sword trail was touching Terry’s head.
People are so toxic. Imma leo fan but riddles did good. Sheesh. Game 5s last stock are the greatest, be thankful.
what an amazing set, Leo's marth it's truly godly, he should've used the counter at least once imo, against terry that uses attacks to recover it would have worked pretty good

@@destroyahdestroyah9584top players are supposed to abuse cheese. counters aren’t cheese. theyre just way too risky if you miss it, you’re not usually going to find top players mashing.
@@mrb-btw I mean running off stage to counter a character with a linear recovery. Like I don't see that as often as I think they could do it
I agree. A counter here and there woulda hurt riddles pretty bad. He was playing so agressive nonstop.

Honestly, neither of these guys played badly here. Leo's other defeat (Skinny the Pooh??) was more surprising, and Riddles's two defeats (BassMage and Jahzz0) were more surprising than a loss here would have been.

No soy quien para juzgar el gameplay de Leo, pero riddles siempre hacía 2 cosas para entrar al stage, o CRack Shoot 90% de las veces, o air dodge, no sé como leo no aprovechó ninguno de esos crack shoots con un counter, o ya darse cuenta de antemano y hacer shield.
También se me hace bien raro, ni un counter en todo el match cuando creo yo habían muchos espacios para. Tal vez era muy castigable y Leo no se quiso arriesgar, o nomás no tomó las mejores decisiones :(

Leo should have gone Marth to start with. Real heartbreaker--Leo outplayed Riddles hard core. Crazy how many more perfect hits Marth has to land, whereas Terry can just spam the same crap over and over

Terry spam? Against a swordie you’re saying that? Literally COUNT how many more empty hit boxes Marth threw out versus Terry. It ain’t even close! Marth’s whole kit (and all swordies really) is to never leave the ground without swinging.

You can’t say Terry “spammed” and then when I point out the OBVIOUS fact that Marth threw out WAY more empty moves, then flip it and say Leo had to “throw out lots of hitboxes” because reasons.
Nobody made either player choose the characters they chose. So they have to deal with the good and the bad of their choices.

I'm referring to the fact that Riddles (and Terry players in general) have the exact same game plan regardless of the context of the match--i.e. Terry players can "spam" their game plan without having to outthink or adjust to the other player. In contrast, Leo adjusted his style and game plan throughout the match.
Note that this is true of more characters than just Terry. Kazuya, Steve, etc have similar playstyles
