Hey luke, you're a sound guy. This video was a little weird, but cool. Or just give it a heart. Anyways, thanks for watching guys. I appreciate the support. Until then, peace
great work dude ! Im adding my advice to improve in case it can help people : You have to improve every bad point of your game until you don't have any. My example is that as a low rank player I've always been more interested into aerial part of the game, so I ended up in diamond having really good aerial control but the dribbling of a silver. I worked only on that for months until my dribbling turned out to be my best asset (still to these days). Now I'm a Champ3 player and while having pretty good aerial and dribbling control, I noticed my pathing and boost management are making me stagnate, I now am working on those and I know I'll get to GC thanks to my training ethic
This is great info and well thought out and it's already been beneficial in my gameplay after just a few days. I noticed I only practice things I'm comfortable with, but rarely anything I struggled with more then a few minutes until I got frustrated, because it's not fun failing over and over although it's necessary to learn. Even my friends that are much higher up then me have noticed the improvement. In roughly a week I went from D3/C1 to holding comfortably in high C2 as a casual player.
I spent 2018 - 2020 reading through scientific researches to improve my violin playing...and I promise you something using science in your practice + effort + consistency + daily stress management routine + good sleep + eat good (and I mean by that try to reach your RDI for minerals and vitamins + and fatty acids like omega-3) = 0.1% player kids learn better not because of only time... because they don't encounter stressful days as much as older ppl, so having meditation, exercises, and good night-sleep will definitely help you a lot to manage your stress, and people forget about this but it's way much easier for kids to reach their recommended daily intake and that MAKES A HUGE POINT why they learn better & faster this is a bet deep but important...having low intake for some vitamins would really fu*k up your mental... and that might happen and you just think it's a bad day/week but actually it's just low intake of whatever vitamins/minerals what I actually recommend is get your life together before you aim high in anything in life.
other tips: #1 in EVERY game the pros would always recommend replays... watching the game back identify your own mistakes, and maybe you would find 10 mistakes per game, but you only have to work on 1-3 because they will make you improve faster #2 I think people should pay closer attention to pro players when they play... for example yesterday NRG vs SSG, you would see that NRG players worked so hard in their first touch, which is in my opinion the most underrated mechanic in the game, maybe you can incorporate that to your game... another example if you watch johnnyboi videos, you would see players always slow down before going to air-dribble play... if you pay more attention to these and try to imagine yourself doing it, you would find much easier when you do it in game #3 as Spook said blackouts moment is so important and I think they are best way to improve your reading #4 you're not a machine, choose your breaks wisely before your body force you sorry for my English it's my third language :(
wonderful video, i love rocket league rank up videos that don't point to specific aspects of the game itself, but rather the methods in which the player should consider training. we're so lucky to have creators willing to share information like you do spookluke
This is actually genuinely great advice.. this doesn’t only apply to RL, but a lot of other aspects in real life which requires accumulation and persistence.
My friends don't wanna learn Rings, Dribble challenges and not even multiplayer Air Race... 😩 How tf do I convince them? 😂 2:48 is very true, the efficiency is incredible. Whenever I do a 2-6h session of any workshop map, I get the same improvement the next day as if I just had trained 30mins the day before. So 4h session makes me 10% better the next day, but 30mins session also makes me 10% better the next day too, lol. short sessions + sleep >>>>>>>>> long training sessions
i subscribed to you a couple weeks ago, i think. every vid i watch i learn something from and enjoy. you havent let me down yet. thank you for your knowledge. im struggling hard with continuous airroll
The biggest thing here to take away is to actually set yourself up for failure in training because failing over and over again is the fastest way your brain learns to do things the right way. So when he says go insanely fast and spin your car awkwardly around in a rings map, even if you’re failing level one over and over again doing that is still better than going super slow through the map just because you don’t want to fail.
thank you for this. Managed to get myself from silver to diamond in a few months, but then I ended up hitting a plateau there. Will for sure be utilizing these tips as i construct a training regimen. Thanks again
I have been watching lots of youre videos for the passed couple of days. I love you're videos and how you are down right honest with the audience. I have been playing rocket league since 2015 and am now just going in and practicing lots of mechanics. I am only a champ and i am now learning how to air roll correctly and flips reset and all this cool jazz but im glad you brought back the basics because not everyone will want to learn these because they are not flashy. Lots of support and love the discord thankyou!
100% the only channel that actually makes a difference in game. When I was learning aerial car control and flip resets only your vids ended up teaching me something. Whatever the secret sauce is keep putting that shit in there
Hey Luke, thanks for this alternative material! I really like your stand point with regards to training and improving in this game. It makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for the video. I'm gonna try to perfect my training from no on, because I didin't take it seriuosly. This video was a great guideline. Good luck to you reaching SSL ;D
People who complain about “plugs” while using a free service, from someone freely giving information and value needn’t be heeded my man. Be confident in what you give and don’t be afraid to ask for support through likes and whatnot. Making people aware of a product so they can spend their money on it if they want is much different than pushy ads. Final thoughts. I attend a lot of (paid) martial arts business seminars, and I remember this one guy who was a guest speaker about web advertising spent most of the time talking about how his service was going to help us grow. It was like we paid for his 1hour commercial. Needless to say he was never invited back for that reason. This is nothing like what you’ve been doing. Keep barreling forward you budding entrepreneur you!
really informative, i might even implement these tips when learning things outside of rocket league, i agree with pretty much everything and i can actually make improving myself a lot more efficient
I always felt like this in school: quantity will hurt my gains. My grades were good except in the classes that my effort was literally 0, wich led to some occasions where I would have to speedrun everything in few days. The result was mid peformance and forgoting what I just learned after the tests. For gaming I never really trained before so I only used the mass aproach since I usually play a lot, but I always get to this strange state where I get really good then my peformance goes downhill. Usually I take long breaks when this happen and I get even better on return. Since I want to improve fast in RL to play with some better friends, I will apply your method.
I can vouch for your compound lift analogy. As a somewhat powerlifter it’s imperative to master the basics to provide yourself with the strongest possible foundation. Ultimately, pulling an air dribble out your ass when you’re 3-0 down means nothing if you can’t shadow defend. What I’d like to challenge though is your point about not playing late at night or “on your last brain cell” as you won’t see improvement. At what point does RL become a chore? Sometimes I simply want to spend a late evening grinding ranked because Im simply enjoying it. In my opinion if you become too regimented with “routine” you can really suck the enjoyment out of something and perhaps lose your interest long term.
I know this sounds weird, but when I actually start understanding the game better, I might get into those coaching sessions! even though I've put over 200 hours in the game, it was never at the competitive level (still don't think I will), but I just know been wanting to hit that "next level" with RL cus it's a game I fell in love since like, idk, 2016 or 2015 lol! Thanks as always Luke you rock
Sound guy and all that, though just wanted to say that this is the type content I personally am subbing to you for, loved it! :) More concrete stuff will always sit better with people than vague answers.
Yo a buddy of mine edits videos for you and turned me on to these videos. Great stuff man. I appreciate the help. There are concepts that just escape me when I try to figure them out like wall play. And air dribbles, being able to see what I'm supposed to be doing makes it a lot easier. Thanks man keep it up. P.s. do you still have that ps5 controller XD
So there are 2 questions left, 1: what are all the "compound" skills and how to train them 2: what if i have 2 hours or more consistently free every day, how should i train then? Like doing a break every 30/45 min or smth like that?
You could make days in which you train say ground control for a certain time then the next day Ariel control and so on. Practice one thing at a time instead of it all at once
I don’t have workshop maps. But i use those weird Neon Maps to fly Around in and do flips and trick in the air. Im way better at the game now. And i do try doing the Impossible in my training and its actually working.
It would be cool for you to do a list of the compound mechanics just to know what kinds there are because being at a lower level it’s hard to know what kinds there are!
Hey Luke you’re a sound guy, this video was a little weird, but cool. You also made me realize how much of an idiot I've been when it comes to Rocket League training. I also lift, and when I started, going in without a plan made me quit a couple of days. Now that I have a plan, I have been seeing way better results, and my split is pretty much what you mentioned: Start with compound movements (Bench on push day, deadlift on pull day, squat on leg day) and then go for some isolation work to round it all up. How could I have been so blind to not see that this is exactly what I needed in Rocket League as well? Something like a AGR split (Aerial control day, Ground control day, Reads and Recoveries day) and then add some isolation work to it as well (Air dribbles on A, flicks on G, double taps on R, for example). Rocket League training also admits programming and periodization. Thank you so much, Luke.
space training is definitely better than mass training. Sometimes when I'm practicing something, there comes a time where my brain stops working lol, and I feel like I'm not getting anything out of it, even start to make simple mistakes on things I already know how to do
Noice. Can you make a video on maps and training regiments that you recommend for compound training? I know you kind of touched on it but I’m unfortunately on epic so I only know how to use lethamyr maps.. any help would be appreciated

Quick question, other than the 30 min training, how much do you play a day? (i.e. rank)
Just to be clear, Its still okay to pretty regularly play matches in really long sessions right?
Quick question if I train 1 hour a day should I lessen that to around 30 mins but 30 mins of different mechanics instead of all of them every day?
That’s what I was gonna ask
