    Thanks so much for this tutorial! I love the different edging ideas, especially the ric rac. My mom (I'm 64 now 🙂) put ric rac on almost everything, so it brings a smile to my face when I see it 🙂 I plan to make a few of these for taking dishes to potlucks and for gifts (especially when I'm gifting a cake or a pie)

    I have made bowl covers before, but yours are so much cuter! I'm going to look for that elastic lace, so I can make pretty wedding gifts! Thanks for this video.

    I have seen these made several times but watch new videos on them. One day I'm GOING to make some. Hopefully soon. I'm getting ready to look through your videos for smaller projects no that I'm done with the quilt I just finished for my daughter's birthday. I used your log cabin tutorial for the blocks on that. I had some issues but I think it just comes down to practice. Anyhoo, I'm now on the hunt for some smaller projects and this these bowl covers have been on my to do list.
    Oh by the way, every time I start one of your videos my husband and sometimes my 3 year old will say "Hi, Sherrill". So cute.

      I made one for my freezer using very pliable clear vinyl. Didn’t quite make it wide enough since this is a very odd shape container that holds ice but it worked very well.

    Wonderful! My Grandmother had covers made with two or three layers of a sort of nylon mesh and there were beads around the edge. She had them over jugs, bowls, plates and everything which needed covering. I like your idea with the elastic. Elastic and beads would meake very pretty covers. Thankyou for this lovely tutorial. Is your machine a Husqvarna Viking? I have one and I love the pivot action. No need for cumbersome knee lifts!

      Yes one of my machines is 😊

      If you have the beads you don't need elastic as the (probably cotton) net is soft and drapes just from the weight. Much easier to wash as they'll dry flat. These were designed to keep flies out of milk but unless it is also for keeping flies off food, I don't understand the use of a cotton bowl cover as it won't stop food from going dry.

    These are very pretty!! I do have a question.. I don't have a serger but I have a coverstitch presser foot which I've used to finish the edges. Will this work on the bowl covers ad well?

    Super cute! Is there something you could use for moisture?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  4 місяці тому

      Hi Transitlady. There are moisture barrier fabrics you can use. Go to a fabric store and see if they have any available. Also check etsy.com or amazon.com to see what they have. Years ago I found some at my local Walmart in their fabric and crafts section. I used it in a baby changing pad. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍
