I didn't know about this version till now. I'm a fan of Vampire WE, but I must say they don't even come close to Bonnie Raitt in their rendering of this beautiful song. OK, the quality of the recording is bad, but it wouldn't make much difference if it were better.
Not trying to hear it every night at work so that's why no thumbs up but nicely done. Kinda hope to find an even better version of their cover ( no offense) I'd like to hear the mix done a little better. Don't know that I'll be seeing them any time soon. But who knows. Either way though. I was just looking for gerry doing it live and stumbled across this actually.
It's a difficult song to do well. Not harmonizing in the bridge ... Not layering the organ and the bass ... poor mix (ok mobile phone)... Lead singer not too strong either. The guitar is probably the best part but it's also the most distinguished element in the original arrangement. I wouldn't try covering Rafferty for the life of me. The guy was a perfectionist.
