CONJOINED twins, Neev and Nelly Kolestein, have been attached by the back of their heads for 18 years - but that hasn’t stopped their determination to change the way people view disability. Despite only ever seeing each other through a reflection in a mirror, Neev and Nelly have formed an unbreakable bond and admit they would never want to be separated from each other. As Craniopagus twins, the girls are a medical phenomenon; representing just two to six percent of conjoined twins worldwide, they are the rarest form. Doctors didn’t think they would survive birth, and if they did, they predicted they would live a poor standard of life until they reached 10 years old. Proving all the odds wrong, Neev and Nelly are still thriving as 18-year-old girls, who can never be separated due to sharing an important vein in the head. Living in Amsterdam, Netherlands, they have now started their own UA-cam channel and Instagram page, aiming to raise awareness of their condition and show people how they are much more than just ‘the girls with a disability’. Amazing. Their fight, their teamwork, it’s all very inspiring. They’re older sister is also a great woman. All 3 are phenomenal individuals. Couldn’t imagine walking a day in their shoes.

About 20 years ago, I saw another pair of craniopagus twins on daytime TV. They were also African-American, but quite a bit older and joined closer to the forehead. They had gotten their masters' degree or some similar higher education, but I'd forgotten their names and as rare as the condition is, I couldn't recognize the likely twins on Wikipedia. I know we have remarkable ability to adapt, but being conjoined is a whole other level.
What you and I and other people might imagine something so difficult, they can't because that's all they know. One walks forward, the other backwards, vice versa.
I would be so tired walking backwards dragging my sister every were. They are cute girls though.

As a twin myself, I could never imagined being conjoined to my twin sister at all - especially considering we hate each other's guts most times. I applaud conjoined twins so much for living the way they do and learning to accept it and love each other.

I have a physical disability, and I can't imagine living with certain other ones. But honestly, for them, it's normal. So, they probably don't think as much of it. Others do because of how they are used to living.
Well I'm sure when they see just one person walking around they think the same thing. They are used to being joined. So they cannot imagine being seperated like we couldn't imagine being joined together with our sibling. But I understand what you mean though.

I was smiling when they tried to walk on the rocks. They were laughing about how funny it was to get across, and I loved seeing them laugh. These young ladies are so sweet and so cute.

I was literally just thinking that, that would be terrible... you'd have to cut them off somehow I guess. The scariest part is one of them probably will die first, I really hope technology advances so people born this way can be sperated everyone deserves a chance to live life to the fullest, they seem to be making the most of it tho so fair play to them!

This has inspired me so much. With my knee issues it would be difficult for me. My attitude is going to be a lot more different now thanks to these strong and beautiful ladies.

I think they are uniquely beautiful and so proud that they can be independent and live life to the fullest with their ability to adapt to their surroundings.
Independent yes, but they can never be individuals and choose separate careers, friends or partners. They can't just do what they want cause everything they do has to be wanted by both sisters and not having that individuality is torture

omg they are so sweet! i love how they’ve adapted, it’s interesting because this is the only life they know, so they have to and it’s normal to them at this point. i love that they’re still their own individual selves while still being joined together. 18 years old is a major milestone when you’re told u won’t make it that far. many blessings to them and their big sister 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

With conjoined twins, they typically die within hours of one another... Having a dead body attached to you isn't great for your health, as it turns out.
Oops. I hadn't thought of that. Since they share an important artery I would imagine when one falls sick, so does the other.
Oh, but you wouldn't necessarily die. In that case, I'm sure doctors would try an emergency separation. You could then have that shared vein in the head to yourself. Maybe it would work.

I have arthritis in my neck and back. I can’t imagine what kind of pains they go through everyday. They keep smiling and thriving, though.
