Shortly after posting this video, Tarisland announced their Global Release for June 21st. Could go either way with that one.
Corepunk also started their Alpha 2 test yesterday, May 27th. More details on that one to come in an upcoming video.
Cheers everyone! Have a great week.
some companies isnt just about money its about trying to stay engaged with their small communities and i love it
Thanks 👍I'm looking forward to the next possible weekend testing for Pantheon and EverCraft! It will be a while before beta for AoC for me.
Yay! Just subbed, coz this was great coverage of current and upcoming mmos. Always loved MMOs but finding less time and energy investment as I reach my 50s - so it's awesome to see proper breakdowns and consider where to put my time.
Much love and success in covering the genre!
Cheers and nice to meet you! Thank you for watching and for the comment. I'll do my best to keep you up to date where I can!
I've been having so much fun with Enshrouded and I'm excited to explore the Ashlands in Valheim. I have Bellwright on my wishlist, as well as Light No Fire and keep hoping to hear something about that game. No Man's Sky is a lot of fun, well now that they fixed it, and so I have high hopes that that one. Probably shouldn't, but I do.
LOTRO, Guild Wars 2, ESO ... man, it's going to be a busy year!
And NOOOOO! The Scuffed Awards weren't too long. Okay, maybe they were? But I didn't think they were.
Great vid! Ill see you on the eq2 origins server! Also going to look into my Pantheon Kickstarter and see if i get access.
Thank you! If you backed Pantheon at any level of $50 or more you should at least have some access. Check the page here for the upcoming dates for different pledge levels: www.pantheonmmo.com/seasons/
Redbeardflynn, Subscribed because your content is fantastic!
That's so kind of you to say! Thank you and welcome!!
I love seeing the new zones and the MSQ.
I love that GW2 and LOTRO are still updating. Such fun games.
Man, I keep hoping Elder Scrolls Online would come out with a 'classic' type server.
Something WITHOUT the One Tamriel update. That game really died when they put the training wheels on it.
I'd love to play ESO on a server without One Tamriel. Especially with all its current content. Combat would still be hard for me to enjoy but the story and voice acting and all that is so good.
Eso died when they failed to ever fix performance issues
I have always appreciated the bountiful size and diversity of the world of EQ2, even if the combat is soooo slow that I cannot play ;)
Some of the expansion areas look beautiful. I just struggle so much with the sheer number of skills for certain classes. As a Bruiser I quit when it consisted of me just looking at my cooldown bar and clicking one skill after the other that all mostly did the same things
The summer of MMO's!! It's been a while, personally having a grand ole time XD. EQ2 Origins, Elf avatar update in LOTRO, Dawntrail... I NEED moar time in a day!! lol
I saw the elf avatar update when I was looking at the roadmap. Exciting to see! Its sad that the full remaster was cancelled but glad to see there's still updating where they can.
@@Redbeardflynn Yeah true I think a remaster would have been incredible, but I'm grateful for what we do get. I'm just glad the game is running and always improving.
I hope we get a surprise and get more info on Light No Fire.
I love taking a turret to the face… 😂 I’m excited for monsters and memories! Great video btw
Outlands Expansion has been amazing love this server! Great Video!
Excellent video Redbeardflynn!
Just curious, have you done a video on DAoC, it's current state and rumors or a new one being made?
This is the first I've heard of anything like a new daoc. Outside of of course Camelot unchained. I'll have to look into it. I want to jump in and play some day too to see what it's like in 2024
We're still in Spring until June 20th or so.
Give me Monsters & Memories and New UO, I'm stoked. Thanks good sir!
I hope to try a VR only MMO someday.
Exactly. Just hanging out in a bar with friends or literally playing chess in between adventures. So many random chance encounters that could give you friends for life, or just the best nostalgic memories in 20-30 years. VR is so heavily underrated. If only it was more accessible to the average gamer. Like you don't buy a 200 USD headset just to play one game. You have to be sold on a genre.
For me, the Wow expansions have excited me again after DF brought me back in, but for now, my friend and I are enjoying the crap out of Enshrouded. Just started our third home with all the survivors and what you can do with building in all directions starting at 40x40x40x40 can really stretch your imagination.
Did you see they're teasing a big update? Just showed off adding Daggers over on twitter. I'll definitely be diving back in (and covering the update) when it hits.
WoW expansions are always a banger for me, even the not so good ones. I just love the first 1-2 months of every one.
So hyped for Dawntrail!
What're you looking forward to most?
@@Redbeardflynn New beach glams for Y'shtola, obviously
Excited for the M&M test and I'm liking the progress Pantheon is making! Dont know why but I cant seem to get into survival co-op games.
If there's one I'd suggest to try specifically for people who don't normally get into them, it's Enshrouded. It just has less friction.
I like EQ Quarm and I enjoy Monsters and memories . Evercraft seem fun too
Hey brother been following your channel for a while, seems like youve been gaining traction. Keep it up love your content, much love my dude!
Thank you so much! Messages like this mean a lot and are very appreciated!
Clearly a ton of work went into this video. Great stuff.
Lord of the Rings Online (if you like that setting):
Its dated af, I know. Its completely solo-able, but the community is very mature and super helpful, you'll find actually meaningful conversations there and its genuinely a *GOOD* time playing it. Has grind vertical progression but also a TON of horizontal, and watching the movies while you play? *chefs kiss*
Ultima (Outlands):
IS REALLY FKING GOOD. I have played Tibia for 25 years, so going to the source of its inspiration was awesome. Highly recommend it if you can tolerate the steep learning curve. Once you understand whats going on, youll be so happy you are playing.
Eso became dead to me once they launched one tamriel, and embraced level scaling.
I think it would be really interesting if you checked out the death of some of the VR MMOs. OrbusVR , zenith the last city. And new games that are incredible like Dungeons of eternity. Might be a new avenue you havent explored yet!
hellgate london 2 is on the table :)in unreal5 thy bought the rights back so they r serious the new name a hallgate redemption .. im stoked🥳
you forgot tarisland which is post to be becoming out next month
One thing I have learned to do over the last 2 years or so is to stop listening to all the negative about games, and look for the good parts of a game. Sure any game will have parts I dont' like, but I try to enjoy it for what the devs wanted it to be.
Well said
It's a fine line I try to tread as a content creator and be aware of my biases. Just because a game may not be for me doesn't mean I should go and trash it for others who may love it specifically for the reasons I personally don't like it. I'm just one dude with a loud mouth on the internet who pressed record. There's lots of us. :)
Great video Red, I saw your corpse in TD on Teek :D I hugged it
Haha thank you!
Redbeard blowing up 🎉 excellent quality video again
@Redbeardflynn I see all the work. Super quality editing. When my studio is complete, I'll be trying to make fun content with you 😃
I’d give anything if MMORPG games could just remember that the point of an MMORPG’S would just remember that these games are about building a world that you are a guest in and the world has things happening and if you aren’t there then they happen with or without you. , wish they would remember that the.. EQ presented a gaming quest that would have you protecting a caravan as it heads off on an epic adventure as you escort a caravan to nearby or places far away.
The other thing that truly needs to be done for PvE are zone wide or even half a continent wide events that come at you in stages that build on top of new things. Ending in a culmination of tons of battles and fighting different coach points as you push back to force your way to bosses.
Also the one thing that we need desperately in need of new play styles. Tank, healer and DPS are a given but buff style characters, melee characters that can handle a mobs hit but a caster would die. Or maybe melee DPS helps by de buffing mobs with melee hits. Buffing and debuffing mobs. A mage caster type dropping a characters hit points and stripping defenses or taking from one mob to give to another. WOW in its time has had, Shadow Priest, enhancement shamans, augmenters. Plus hunters have all p
No mention of throne and Liberty?
even WoW is supposed to be speeding up their xpack cycle to about every 1.5 years instead of every 2. not quite the yearly cycle but certainly working closer to it.
I'm enjoying Oldschool Runescape and WOW this year. My fav mmos
This year is full of stuff to do.
June alone is overloaded with stuff!
I really have to hope one of the new MMOs are fun for people like me, cause nothing current really is doing the trick. :(
Dang. UO New Legacies is FINALLY happening? Thought that idea was scrapped at some point lol
Same. I was surprised by the announcement earlier this year.
Bring on EQ3!!!
I miss FFXI. I want a MMO that completely disrespects my time. I want to lose exp when I die
Check out: Monsters and Memories, Evercraft Online, Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen if you haven't already. And of course all the other current classics out there.
Honestly I don’t really play MMO’s but I can’t wait for Soulframe to come out it looks really cool plus it’s made by Digital Extremes so it will probably be good (also anyone got any MMO type games that they would recommend so I can try the genre out before it comes out?)
I might have a video that can help you because while the genre itself is it's own thing, there are *very* different playstyles. Off the top of my head though if you're looking for something faster like Soulframe, maybe Black Desert Online?
Check the video here, it's broken into subcategories: ua-cam.com/video/nMdGj1vojP4/v-deo.html
@@Redbeardflynn Alright I’ll check out the video and look into black desert.
@@Redbeardflynn Lol I saw the video and was kinda interested in ultima online outlands and decided to search it up and they are DDOSed rn so I might wait on that one but I found some very interesting ones that i will try out my pc is kind of a potato so my opinions are limited 🗿
(I do play on Xbox so I can get some of these on there so that’s good)
Best video in awhile!
Great vid
I can't wait to RunEscape to Brighter Shores
baring classics like wow tera bns and reluctantly black deserts (for being a half done mmo, then again so was tera but damn was a good game.) yeah... FFXIV is the last real mmo storyline community challenging raids and dungeons, even pvp kinda! Lets hope its not the end for mmos.... because in the end thats the real ticket to play a game with alot of people.
Well, Pax Dei developers are from Iceland and Finland, so I don't think spring exists there. lol
😂
Am Finnish, would like to let you know that summer is the best week of the year!
@@Dewkeeper sounds like winter in Texas! Best morning of the year!
@@Redbeardflynn I thought winter in Texas was opening your freezer? 😂
@@Dewkeeper 🤣
Great video man
Thank you so much!
I mean, all those complaints are real and true. Mmos *can* still be fun, but it is a shell of what it once was and not a landscape to be celebrated unless we get a renaissance.
6:08 It will be the 6th consecutive yearly expansion, not 2nd. Just sayin. Umbar/BtS/Gundabad/Three Peaks/Minas Morgul in previous years.
I thought of BtS as a mini-expansion, is that not right? I think they even called it not a full expansion.
@@Redbeardflynn That's a very fair point, and it's referred to by both terms especially depending on who you're talking to. Multiple new maps, new storyline (oh hi, Boromir), a new 1-30ish starting experience, gear overhaul, new mission content with Andrath/Herne/Clegur, a new dungeon, a new skirmish, the introduction of Delving difficulty missions for level capped players and that entire gear/progression system...
It does really speak to the question of what do we consider to be enough to make the break between "more content" and "yup, that's an expansion". And whether Pong is an RPG. So, the cadence really depends on what gets classified as "My game got an expansion!". How many new maps, or what the size of those maps is? Does it have to raise the level cap? Does there need to be a new Class? A new Spec? A new race? Does it have to be high-end content only?
While they referred to it as "the latest mini-expansion", I'd venture that for a conversation about the cadence of released content both it and War of Three Peaks (the other xpack that's often referred to as "mini") have easily enough Stuff to them to be in the conversation. But again, everybody draws that Pong line someplace different. :D
The viper and the mountain
👀
the krono things wont matter, people will just trrade x amount of plat on origins for krono on a live server. they have said they only plan to go through Kingdom of Sky. which is pretty early into eq2. only the 2nd actual expansion. so people will just play origins to farm plat for krono on another server so when another TLE comes out that does allow krono they will be able to control that market. but it gives a certain niche group of people the illusion that not having krono will make a difference.
That sounds like about as much work as you'd have to go to for rmt that existed long before krono though. Will be interesting to see. I don't forsee a Kronos market on the server happening where you have to log out and log back in and trust someone. Will it happen? Yeah, just like rmt in ever game. But I do think not making it as easy as Krono kills the open market. Well see.
Im busy on Teek , got my 5 box and NOT 6 running. 😂
waiting for gw2 expansion \=w=/
This is what GW2 needed. Yearly revenue.. The recent expansion was a test basically, and I hope that they get the hang of it and can push out more content regularly. Having the expansion split up into basically 4 patches is great.. Every 3 months they add content.. But I'd love to see more content once this becomes regular. We want these games to make money, but we don't want a pay to win system.
I may jump into the legacy server. And I think I do it completely blind.
New World is a freaking blast! Picked it up about 2years after a cluster of a release...now it's the best MMO or even Single player experience out there.
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it so much!
Apparently 16-17 months that took valheim team to launch ashlands is multiple years.
I was referring to its time in Early Access since its launch but I'll word it better next time. Cheers.
We don't deserve you redbeard! Thank you for another great video!!
Nice video
I keep trying to go back to FFXIV because of the awesome class design every Expansion, and end up wasting my money with the sub just running out. The open world and quest are just way to dry to me, the mobs are spread out too thin and far apart. The world is HUGE and pretty yet empty as fuck.
You didn't mention how far you got in the game, but I'm going to assume you're still playing in A Realm Reborn, the oldest part of the game from level 1-50. My advice is to only do the Main Story Quest and your class quests. Skip side quests for now as they are there for flavor, and if you don't like them, there's no reason to do them. The MSQ provides enough XP to level your main job all by itself. The MSQ in ARR has some slow parts, but there's a lot of good stuff in it too. Once you get to Heavensward, the MSQ gets really good and there's also an upgrade in voice acting. If you get bored with MSQ, take a break with a different activity. There's a lot to do, even in ARR. There's dungeon roulette, alternate classes to try out, Hunts, treasure hunts, PvP, Fates, Gold Saucer events, chocobo racing, Palace of the Dead, ocean fishing, crafting & gathering, etc. Oh, and make sure to do the blue quests too since those unlock game features like optional dungeons, additional classes, and the glamor system.
The game have a lot of modes and different events throughout. Try out treasure hunting, collecting, journal hunting, blue mage skill collecting. This game have so much but you need to find it yourself since you're not really exploring the game much
Not sure how far you are, I’m guessing you’re still in the base game of A Realm Reborn but it’s not like other mmos where you should be out in the open world grinding out mobs for exp. And yeah everyone and their mom will tell you how boring the base game is but after that if you’re about the storymode in your games, the main quest line gets great
@@tiopapichulo2136 The thing is that there are lots of stuff to do in the base game too like gold sauce, triple triad, mahjong, side dungeons, blue mage, potd, crafting, etc so if someone gets burnt out of story, there's stuff to do in between
Honestly, I got hooked on Ffxiv because of the story and the casual content. It is a flaw in the game that it takes a long time to get to the better part of the story but the. Again I enjoyed arr. my friends can’t get through it though.
Pax Dei early access is likely going to be very, and I mean very, barebones. Having played in that recent alpha, I can honestly say that the game had basically no content. Their combat system is barely functional still and it's basically just a craft grinder. The building and crafting systems were pretty good though. But I question if a game like that will ever have much actual content.
I have to admit the first impression of it for me was reiterating why I feel like mmos at least need some semblance of a world to begin. But they're trying to really lean into that survival game as an mmo. Sounds like they're taking to heart the negative feedback they got on combat too. Well see.
Monsters and Memories is going to rule the MMO world.
AOC kickstarter to A1 was 7 years then to A2 coming Q3 about 6 years, so beta 1 will be in 7 years then beta 2 in 6 more years. in other words AOC full 1.0 sometime in 2036-2038
Ffxiv / eso those are the 2 best from the list.😊
This game still needs alot of work just fixing classes dont fix stats in game also it dont let ppl solo as any job
Pantheon is the One !!!
14 releases the highest level content, but i swear I fall asleep playing that game i find the combat/engagement so so boring
It’s so damn hot outside
I can only hide from so much sun
eso is awesome great ambience
Ive gone from mmos to day z and scum im so glad that mmos have been dry so i can find new games to play
Only MMO im looking forward to is Chrono Oddysey.
Man I wish they remastered eqoa from PlayStation!
Vanguard saga of heroes beat them all ,guys on emulator doing great work
Fallout 76 is nice, even with Mtx
699 Million thank you!... My money is in there too 😂
They've got $45 from me! But I love the little thumbrive looking ship I got as part of my access to the game
also throne and liberty
A lot of ads in this guys video holy crow
How many? It should be standard and decided by youtube.
I know i am probably in thr minority. But i am so over running around, button mashing 15 diffefent skills.
I would LOVE a turn based combat MMO. Not wizard 101 or pirate 101 or wakfu. I love aurvival games. But i am just so tired of coming home tired from work, driving all day, and thrn having to button mash and zoom around trying to dodge crap. Or path of exile. Cannot play with others cause they want to zoom a map in 5 seconds. It literally hurts my head/eyes.
Soulmask is good.
Hot take, ashes should have pve servers. Also, tarisland has an eastern release date of June 19th i believe:)
The report is not very good.
I'm curious to see if some of these more classic MMO's with lower graphics get converted into mobile MMO to reach a wider demographic
So far the only one I know of that has plans for that is Pax Dei which wouldn't fall under the lower graphics. Most of these are being built by Indie small teams so I imagine trying to multi-platform would be difficult. Though moving to console with an eye toward Steam Decks and such might be an interesting play going forward. Wouldn't be shocked if we get a WoW console announcement in the next year or two as is.
Unpopular Opinion:
If you want the MMO world to boom again, it’s going to require a small team of people working day in and day out for specifically 6 years without pay to first created that badass game.
Then we’ll require that team to focus only on the development of that game and no other new projects.
This dev team must also hold the ideology of most modern gamers and that’s, buying that game to own.
Keep in mind, the dev team is still not getting paid because any kind of revenue gets put into their studio development for faster/ better production.
(It’s a hard pill for anyone who makes games, to swallow because they’re desire is to get paid for doing something they’d not only hate doing, but also hold so much pride for in the end when it gets shit on because halfassing product like a Fckin China-man is always an option but NOT the path to fortune and glory)
Throne and Liberty is the only mmorpg that matters besides FF14. Everything else is not worth it. I would say BDO is another alternative or else, play Linegae 2 private servers. Everything else, it's bad.
Ashes of creation???
Also not mentioning wow is also a crime.
TRSH
Talking about MMO news for 2024 and Not including the upcoming June announcement for New World is actually insane. But you still cover LOTRO, a game that has been irrelevant for the last 10 years lmao
Nice announcement, btw 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Zero interest in ff14
Ngl Dawntrail looks kinda boring
Sooo all I hear is that it's a good year for old existing MMOs, and another garbage year for anything new. Got it.
Garbage will depend on point of view. Tarisland is coming out in June, Throne and Liberty probably at some point this year, Blue Protocol unless its delayed. Corepunk, maybe.
There *will* be new MMOs releasing this year, the quality is an open question and will depend on what people are wanting from the MMO specifically.
@@Redbeardflynn
Tarisland - Trash mobile MMO
T&L - Confirmed typical Korean P2W MMO
Corepunk - This is going to flop so hard, kudos to the devs for trying to do something new though but this isn't what people want.
Blue Protocol - With the way this game has been handled...yikes. I used to be excited for it, but that excitement faded away like 4 years ago...aka when it should have launched.
Listen the MMO genre has been very very stagnate for the last decade, this isn't even really a discussion. The last major MMO to launch was ESO or maybe BDO, both which came out in 2014. There are no new MMOs in the near future that look like they'll change that.
First
Nope pass..new games are woke trash so hard pass
Brother.....pantheon is dead and gone. Give up on it.
I'm enjoying playing it currently. It an MnM have been my top mmos recently while I try to figure out EQ CTD issues.
Don't waist your time with the last patch from Guild Wars 2. Was totally disappointing as has been this entire last expansion.
Take care your undiagnosed mental illness, mmos are still fun. same as any video game genre, movies, and tv shows.
That's what the video is about bud :)
@@Redbeardflynn wait iwrite this on the wrong video, my bad.😅
sorry bud but this is all old news we need more games where we are not the hero of all time id like to play a game where i am a no one and become well knowing for what i do with my crafts and there is only one game that lets you do that but if i say it people will cry and say i should learn what real mmos are lol just wish there was not so much alt tab games its getting stale!!!!
I play all these games and check them out regularly. So many upcoming expacs. My wallet will be crying 🥺
1. FF14 is dead to me gameplay never changes and its a themepark so once you have played one expansion you have done them all. Same for Guildwars and WoW. 2.Everquest is so old I want modern graphics and learning what went wrong with other sandbox games. This goes for most old mmos. 3. As for the new ones. M&M Pantheon PxD Eternal Tombs all come off as having toxic communities. M&M and pantheon have terrible graphics and PxD and Eternal Tombs have terrible combat. I will play none of these games.
UO has always been a game I like very much. Although I don't have the first love of games that many people have (the first one is the best), I admit that I have more or less chased its shadow in other games, such as ArcheAge. It's sad that more and more young people now call players who play mmo games old stuff🥲. What they like most is competitive or fps (and the market is serving them)
Outlands is a top-down game. Top downs don't count, nor do they matter.
