I disagree with your rant about the Kami Band. They have not been "pushed back" because they were overshadowing anybody, stealing the limelight or whatever, they are not being disrespected in any way whatsoever ... they were certainly not overshadowing the girls - your own experience and whatever may have happened to you has not happened to the Kami Band. They were always "anonymous" gods of guitar, bass, drums etc with the face paint, wigs (Leda and Hideki - BOH would have had a wig too but they couldn't get it to stay on his bald head) and white robes, there is no real difference with the masks and black robes other than you can't see a smile, a tongue being poked out etc - they are just a variation on the disguise .... and Chris Kelly, CJ Masciantonio and Clint Tustin were even more hidden under their Star Wars masks than they are under the Kami Band masks - at least you can see their eyes now. All that changed was the productions got bigger, the girls were increasingly performing on moving platforms and stages that roll out into the arenas. The Kami Band couldn't join them on those small moving stages so they remained on the main stage. The live performance videos are taken from the BluRays of the concerts and the main focus never changed from where it always was - on the girls. With the bigger productions and moving stages the Kami Band just happen to not be right behind the girls, so we see don't see them as much in those videos. They were not pushed back, hidden in the shadows or whatever, they were still as animated as ever and putting on a show. I know when you saw them you thought the Kami Band of the West were very static, not interacting with the girls or the crowd etc - that was not my own experience at the concerts I went to and watch any of the festival videos or fancams etc from this year and they are all rocking out, headbanging and even improvising during parts of songs that the Kami Band East never did (eg in Megitsune if Su is talking to the crowd). 'Answer To Animation With You' ('Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai') is a cover song - or more accurately it is a response to a song called 'Animation With You' by death-pop band Kiba of Akiba. This was their very first collaboration as the two bands issued a joint EP which included each band covering the other band's song. This was BABYMETAL's cover of KoA's song - KoA covered 'Doki Doki Morning'. BABYMETAL played this song live more times than any other cover they have done (the vast majority of their covers were one time only performances). They played this song about 25 times I think ... it was early, they didn't have so many of their own songs yet. I always find myself holding my breath waiting for Su to hit those last notes and anticipating BOH doing his runs on the bass behind her.
red night and black night are only for calls during the concert, such as the first and second day of the concert, which is a 2-night concert (red night & black night).
In 2015 they made the Apocrypha show, called The Black Mass (april 23, male-only audience) and The Red Mass (april 24, women-only audience); this is the Budokan show from 2014
Probably one of the best Babymetal cover songs. A song they performed a bunch of times. About the Kami band, I'm gonna agree with some fans, it's not as bad as it seems. BUT as time goes on the guys have become more animated, as they've learned to perform the songs more and more and are more experienced with touring with the setlists, they've become more animated, this same was true with the Kami band from the east. Not showing their faces, I think it's a missed opportunity.
I really dont think the Kami-Band would overshadowing the Girls in any Way. They where always the Main Attraction but without the backing Band the Girls wouldnt shine as they do. They both profited from each other. Maybe in the Future we can see the Kami's without the Masks and with more Interactions. It would not take anything away from the Girls it would add just more to the Performance.
Original song from Kiba of Akiba Japanese alternative metal band Babymetal covers this song very well 💯. Kamiband east and west are both equally amazing, no complaints about the masks or other appearances!!
Just caught your Babymetal reactions the last couple of days (I've been listening while driving for work). I completely agree with you on the staging- I'm a big fan of American musical theater, and I can see echos of it in their shows. They only do the major staging in Japan, mostly, for obvious reasons, but the Kamis and the girls are more than enough- saw them last year on the BabyKlok tour, and they were *amazing* (Deathklok was deathly boring- zero audience interaction, with no lights on the band. In fact, I didn't know until months later that several of the members were women!). They are coming through the US headlining this fall, and the wife and I are driving 500 miles to see them- because it's worth it!
Just when you think it will not get better, up steps Boh! Other have commented on everything and more, than I had planned to say. I don't believe this song has been played for many years? Rick Wagner will know 😎 From my understanding, the Kami Band West, was where the masks were first used. Please always remember, BabyMetal exists to make money for AMUSE. Paying for plane tickets and accommodation plus Visa costs for the Kami band East while BabyMetal is on tour in the West, compared to using musicians who are 'home grown' as such, is going to reduce the tour costs. Reading one comment, the Kami band East seems to be no more? Maybe someone can confirm this? This song I believe, has the most lines for Moa and Yui, out of all BabyMetal's repertoire. Glad you enjoyed the song so much.
The masks were used from the start of the 2019 tour in Yokohama (then Glastonbury and Brixton in the UK followed by Legend M in Nagoya) ... all of them performed by the Kami Band East. OTFGK if the Kami Band East will be back - their last appearances to date were at the BABYMETAL Returns concerts in January 2023.
@@Grington300 Many thanks Grington 300. You and Rick are a fountain of knowledge with respect to BabyMetal. I had always thought the masks were only Kami band west thing. In a way that does give greater credence to David's rant. Fortunately, reading comments on this reaction and previous reactions, the Kami band, is still an integral part of BabyMetal and not shunted off to the back stage. Glad to read Kami band East, will return and yes, hopefully without the masks!
@@Glynthepin Thanks, Rick knows so much more than I do. I don't agree with David's rant - as I said in my own comment "...They were always "anonymous" gods of guitar, bass, drums etc with the face paint, wigs (Leda and Hideki - BOH would have had a wig too but they couldn't get it to stay on his bald head) and white robes, there is no real difference with the masks and black robes other than you can't see a smile, a tongue being poked out etc - they are just a variation on the disguise..."
I agree with these fans who say the Kami should not wear masks anymore but I completely disagree about the way they talk as not liking BABYMETAL as much because of that, that feels iffy because this situation has much more nuance than it seems among many other situations inside the fanbase, for example when the West Kami band was introduced especially online they were mistreated by some “fans” it was not cool at all & it wasn’t because of the masks even, & you’re right David it seems disrespectful to hide their identity, but outside of fans & “fans”, reactors, or people who just got to know the band BABYMETAL sometimes get judged for being kids when people react to their older footage, it’s not a case where they exactly say the band overshadows the girls but they do get mistreated quite often as a joke compared to the musicians, I think KOBAMETAL makes them use maks for more reasons as safety of identity, much more than just the mindset of giving the girls the spotlights, I think BABYMETAL fans are very endearing but some of them are not flowers, there is certain toxicity & unhinged people who even engage hate topics & gender war, & I wouldn’t call them true fans of the band.
Yes, some people want to turn this into an anti-woke narative, as if the Kami band are being cucked by Babymetals 'handlers' because they are men. This then casts a negative light on the girls as if they are some kind of limelight-hogging divas, or Koba as being petty and malicious. Some people (not all; and i don't mean David here either) who push this naratives will do it to just to hate on Babymetal and spread negativity. I understand why a lot of people want the old format back, but some things had to change out of necessity, and other things; like the masks; are highly likely not Koba's doing. People ignore the fact that Kamis would not allow themselves to be disrespected, and Koba would never want to be pi**ing these guys off; they are critically important to him. I'm tired of hearing about this assumed disrespect from people who don't know the full context (even though i would like to see the Kamis more involved on stage myself).
@@Ryujin170 Yeah, honestly there’s so many things wrong in the fanbase, it’s because these types of discussions are not seen on YT outside of the Yui drama lol, but it’s a very iffy situation. I think part of the “fans” still thinks about BABYMETAL too much as a genre or a product than actual people making music, like if you feel you don’t like them anymore then simply leave you know, making conspiracy theories & disrespecting the band, saying they lost their way is very pretentious & wrong, yes some BABYMETAL members changed, costumes changed, they’ve grown up etc etc but the message & soul of the band, their unique way of making music, these girls haven’t really changed inside as person & artists, these “fans” & even us can never say we know BABYMETAL better than themselves, it has always been like that, unpredictable as they are it’s in their nature, we may not like or understand some choices but they will always be a special band regardless of everything.
@@BeccaVinesz I agree, who ever says “they’ve lost their way” needs to get off their horse lol. Babymetal is evolving, as they should after 14 years. But to me, they absolutely still feel like “Babymetal”. Just enjoy the music or go somewhere else!!
@@BeccaVinesz I agree. And whatever Koba did, whether it's divisive or not...worked. Babymetal still sell out concerts. They are more popular now than ever. You expect casuals not to understand, and trolls to exploit the situation, but when people claim to be fans and constantly villify Koba, they are more toxic than trolls because other people take them seriously. Opinions are fine, but just let Babymetal be Babymetal, because they are going to do what they want anyway, and whatever they do next will be 100x better than what any fan could come up with. The best we can do is try to predict what they are going to surprise us with. Koba definitely listens to fans, but he doesn't listen to whiners who want perfection. If Koba does make changes that seem like a return to something, it's probably because he was always going to do it anyway. It's funny when you listen to some fans saying, 'I got into Babymetal because they were different' and then complain because they have done something different than before. Do they not understand the concept of non-conformity? Babymetal love their fans, but as the lyrics to Headbanger!! go, 'All the crybabies, get out of here!'
Great review as always DH. My only disagreement was your rant regarding the Kami Band. They are most definitely not being brushed aside. As a matter of fact, Babymetal is returning to the “classic” style more nowadays. E.g., Kami solos, and more camera time. My hypothesis is because Kami West are now the de facto band and Babymetal as a whole is much more “stable” vs 2018-2021. If you can get your hands on the Legend MM shows from Mar 2024 for Momo’s 21st birthday, you’ll see what I’m talking about regarding the Kami Band. Their focus was equal if not more than the early concert videos you’ve seen with Kami East, and the Kami West are very lively, head-banging, motioning for circle pits, very animated the entire show. Not to mention they had 2 solo intros each of the 2 nights. 🤘🦊
It was the five fox festival that had nights for women only, corpse paint, teens, older adults and children The festival started on7/18/17 and went until 08/30/2017
In the regular setlist for current headliner and festivals shows of 45-65 minutes there's always one song with Kami band intro (Metali). At the Legend MM shows they even had two songs with Kami band intro (Kagerou and Metali the first day and Yava and Metali on the second). Yes, the band is officially just a backing band, the main act is Babymetal. But that's the case with many artists with backing band. Have you ever seen the guy playing keyboards for Iron Maiden at their shows? The only time I saw him was at Rock am Ring 2014 during Seventh Son where they made him part of the performance.
I happily welcome you into the group of people that still love (or like as you say) BABYMETAL, but not as much as when the Kamis were more represented. I think it's been an unnecessary change of direction and I am frustrated that Kobametal, after all these years, hasn't realized it's actually more damaging to the band than it is helping. Koba usually doesn't process feedback well. I also agree that it is disrespectful. I know you wouldn't know that artist because it's a French "mood electro" artist, but he is an academy level pianist and when he does his concerts, he brings a whole orchestra with him, and they all are getting their moment to shine, taking center stage, masks off, interacting with the crowd, and it's ALWAYS a bonus. NEVER a negative for the artist (Worakls). As far as your opinion of the song David, I entirely agree with you. I think this song gets better as it develops and it keeps pacing up until reaching a sort of climax. Very clever lay out placement there and the Su vocals start truly shining at that moment. I also love this song because it's the song that easily features the most Yui & Moa vocals. That is why, despite this song being actually a cover from Kiba of Akiba, it remains one of my favourite songs of BABYMETAL's catalogue.
I'm not a mask fan personally (I loved the robes and makeup period) - but I can get why maybe they're masked up now & I think it's unlikely they'll go with the current setup. The old E.Kami to me felt very much a part of BM - but not so much now which I miss (not disputing they're bloody good though ). Love this cover track anyway - they always took them and made something great with them.
I do agree with you on the whole band point but Galactic Empire (the 2 guitarists and guitarist turned bassist for the Western Kami Band) perform their own songs in full Star Wars themed costumes including masks so not sure if that whole mask thing was something they wanted or something Babymetal pushed for. I will say they do get their own chances to showcase their skills during live shows much like in Rondo of Nightmare but a lot seems like it's cut out of the videos.
I don't think instrumentalists were ever told that they would be equal to girls. From the most humble beginnings of BM (2010-2014) it was all about the girls. The band of musicians, which appeared later on, was there just to provide live music at concerts, they were never supposed to be part of BM. I'm realtively new fan (since 2021), but from all the history I digested there isn't any indication that Kami band was taking away spotlight from girls at any point, even more so overshadowing them.
I fully disagree with your rant, no one is disrespecting any of the Kami Band, the current iteration got their own band fully dressed and hide under Star Wars costumes when performing live, they know the deal and respect what is their job when performing live, there are more people involved in this group when making the songs and none of them get the same credits if you wanna complain about it, that's just straight disrespectful against them if you wanna give more spotlights to the Kami Band who only are executioners, they're great musicians, no one is saying they don't deserve recognition thou. In October they will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile and can't wait for it, also Perú with a headlining show. Hope you can also enjoy one of the shows in November during the US Tour.🦊🤘🔥
Some agree with his stance, some not. its his opinion though and from a place of wanting a bit more limelight on the band. Personally I love the old school days of the band being right beside them, their ghost white robes being a mysterious backdrop...it added to the whole presentation.
@@jakemuller8626 old days as in when most jumped on. I feel you understand what I meant given you had to speak about the origins...but if we go there, lets go even more old school as it being mostly just Kai sitting back considering a fusion with Su...pre-babybones...but before that, lets go back to the concept of music and... aka, you know what I was referring to. Its probably not productive to be pedantic. I even clarified what my idea of the old school days was with the white robes and face paint...
I feel like there is a lost opportunity with the current presentation of the Kami. Ghost was the perfect comparison... everyone knows who's still the focal point of that act.
It was 2 months after the BIG FOX festival that we lost Mikio, and Yuimetal. When Yui left for good. That was the start of the DARK age/Chosen 7 era of BABYMETAL.
I also would prefer to see the Kamis, but the guys on guitar and bass currently are from Galactic Empire and wearing masks seems to be their thing. *shrug* I do want to see the Kamis of the West have the presentation the Kamis of the East had (watching BOH and Ohmura's antics adds to the fun), but I'm not privy to the reason for the choices they made here. Maybe the western Kamis prefer to perform in costume/masks.
I don't think it's specifically their thing - both bands were made to wear masks when the western kami-band got introduced. Personally I think it's broken KOBA logic that if they're both in masks we'd be too stupid to notice the difference, sad as that is
I hadn't heard this one. This particular song is very influenced by older Sakura Gakuin routines. To be honest, up until four years ago I would have turned it off for the cutesy idol influences. I've gradually gotten over my built-in aversion.
Well not really a Babymetal Song. It was a part of their history. They wanted to produce a CD with I think Gimme Chocolate and to get the CD as cheap as possible they had to agree in a song swapping agreement. The other Band got the perimission to perform Gimme Chocolate a d they got the permission to perform Kimi ga Anime.Free of Charge. But I don't see the purpose of this rant. They haven't played a Single time in the last 18 months with the Kami Band and the Kami Band West wore Masks for a longer time since their Guitarrists were a part of a Star Wars Revival Band. And in fact one of them now lives in Tokyo.
I have to agree with you on what happened with the Kamis, but not sure if the interpretation you make of what happened is the correct one. Problem is, Babymetal has always been very secretive about the internal working of the band. We may not like it, but they always have kept to themselves how, why and who make the decisions for the band. So you could be right, it's completely on track with companies like Amuse to keep a tight rein on their bands, and hammer in the nail that shows above. In this case, that would be the original Kamis, who started to get their own fans. But looking at just the facts, I'm not sure that's it. What do we know for certain? We know the Kamis stayed as they were until the Western Kamis entered the picture. When they arrived, all Kamis, both Western and Eastern, started wearing dark robes and masks, and they were progressively relegated to the background. We know also that the Western Kamis were only used at first for the tours in the US and Europe, then also in Asia, until the Western Kamis completely disappeared, even for the mega concerts in Japan. Finally, we also know that the Western Kamis, or at least the guitarists and bassist, always performed in masks before working with Babymetal. So the generalization of the masks may be their idea. That's all we know for sure. Amuse is certainly behind this move to replace the original Kamis with the new ones, but we don't know why they did it. It could very well be as you say, and they wanted to reinforce the focus on the girls, but it could just as well be that the original Kamis were requesting more and more money or recognition for what they brought to the band, and they decided to get rid of them. We simply don't know, and until we have an official announcement, we shall have to live with our regrets for the original Kamis and what they brought to the band.
The original Kiba of Akiba "Animation With You" is about a guy inviting a girl back to his room to watch Anime. Anime being the modern equivalent of etchings, I suppose. In their "Answer," Babymetal stays fairly true to the original, even with the frenetic live performance. But they add the twist of the alarm clock at the end to say: "In your dreams, buddy."
Considering how much the Kami band did to give the girls legitimacy as a real metal band it's too bad about the masks. When they did sonisphere in 2014 I can't help but think the reason they weren't seen as a fad was because the Kami band was one of the best bands at the festival. With a lesser band they wouldn't have hit so hard. Not only that but they are showman too. That said I figure it's hard to keep a group that talented together. And I actually like the new stuff they are doing better. But the original Kami band are probably too much band for what they are doing now. I mean they are really meant to push the limits and modern babymetal doesn't do that as much.
Excellent review. This song was a cover and I requested both this version and the original version too. So glad you got to react to this one. I agree with you regarding the Kami band. Honestly, I got into this band first because of the Kami Band. There were a string of videos and performances where they were indeed put off to the side with less attention. However lately they are being given more visibility again in both stage position and in video productions so I am glad with that. Sure they still have masks, but they are at least getting more of the attention they deserve. East vs West, I think the East Kamis were just more animated on the stage. Even when they were masked, the East just interacted with the crowd more. The West are now starting to move around more though. I terms of sound, the West Kamis have evolved to have their own sound now. Part of this is I think they have more freedom to make small improv changes to the songs. The East stuck more to how the songs were written in comparison. I am starting to prefer the West because of this. Anthony Barone's drumming especially.
Keep in mind that those Kamiband members are actually no longer performing on stage with Babymetal. They were never Amuse employees to begin with. So when their avaliablility became more sporadic, Amuse and Koba decided they needed more permanent members who could handle the constant touring BM does now. They help write the music, but they no longer tour with the girls, even in Japan. The shows are all done by the western Kamis these days. The og Kamiband pretty much left after Mikio tragically passed away, either due to health issues or other commitments.
"They help write the music, but they no longer tour with the girls, even in Japan." The only Kami Band member known to compose any BABYMETAL music is Leda Cygnus (Shinji Yuuto). He arranged 'No Rain, No Rainbow'. He's also the only Kami Band member known to be involved in any of the studio recordings.
Yeah, I perfectry agree with you! Well Girls are still idol (Kevin kissed girl, Spanish guys yelled "WOOOOOO WTF!!!!!"), so if boys are in there, awkward, maybe no good for fans, So... Desurabbits didn't go well. LOL btw this is best so girls have to play this again, & UkiUki too!
I agree about seeing the Kamis, (I miss watching them play and goof around). and the masks are impersonal. The fact that it's a big group that rotates might be the production's reason for downplaying them I wish they'd keep some more permanent musicians, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards.
The current Kami Band have supported BABYMETAL since 2019 on the tours outside of Japan and have been ever present for every concert since April last year. Only the bassist has swapped out in that time - they are Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin or Ryan Neff on bass, Anthony Barone on drums. They are about as permanent as could be hoped for.
@@Grington300 I did notice that the Western band were doing Japan this year (from my understanding, don't quote me), and I hope it's a step in the direction of at least a few keepers. With Barone being with All That Remains and them going on a tour, I hope they plan for him to slip right back into his spot when they get back.
@@holliwouldifshecould I agree. I think with the sheer number of concerts they played last year (nearly 100 in 25 countries) and how much they have already toured this year with lots more to come it just made sense to stick with the Kami Band West for the whole lot ... and as I said, it has been the same 5 musicians since 2019.
Nice reaction. Babymetal and the Budokan have had a lot of memorable shows together. As for the Kamis IMO the giant video wall has taken over most of the stage. They might want to cut that back some so the kamis can get more space in the stage to move around. I also have felt they always seemed to get more visual time during festival shows. The camera director needs to give them some cam time as well. They caught them doing some head windmills during one of those shows. I don't know how those masks stayed on. Would have been cool if they flew off and they had the makeup on. You're right nothing is ever going to take away the focus from Su Moa and now Momo. They should know that's just the way it is. I think Babymetal ladies should interact with the Kamiband members during the show. Even if it's starts with the Funny face contest Moa use to have with the drummer. I think the fans would go nuts if he flipped the mask up and made a face at her. Moa could make this happen. All the interviews they do somebody should ask her to do that. This song is a great cover tune. And I have thought it would be cool to hear more tunes get the Babymetal treatment. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises
Also, the LA Forum show was one night only (October 11th, 2019). BABYMETAL performed at Aftershock in Sacramento, Portland OR and Seattle WA after that.
Great reaction / review. Thanks, David. I can't speak for everyone, but yes, I believe that most of the fans don't like the masks. But we perfectly know who they are and some of us try to praise them properly. They are loved and they know it. It's important to me that they are on stage, masked or not. Also you can see them perfectly (if they don't use elevated sections) in concerts. Budokan 2014 Black Night is still one of my favorite shows and I also love that stage. Although it was quite dangerous: Yui fell off the stage the previous day (red night) and Moa got injured due to a fall in a turn while sprinting during the next song ("IDZ"). They never reuse stages. Also, that stage was literally that particular era's logo. The Red / Black Nights thing has already been explained, but here is a fun fact: Red Night = black tutus / Black Night = red tutus. Plain and simple BABYMETAL logic. 🤣 🤘🦊
I get legitimately psyched when I see a new BM reaction on your channel. A long time ago I saw your reaction to the iconic performance of Road of Resistance, then Death, and I felt like I understood this band much better from watching your analysis while you got into them. never stop ranting. unless you want to of course.
The rant about Kami doesn't make sense nowaday. Now I believe it's on Kami side that they can't/don't want to be a pernament member - they've been touring with rotating member and with their own personal projects before. Like now even with West kamis Athony Barone is actually a band member of another band. So I think the reduced presence of them is to make the fan less attached since they're not pernament
I do think there are many layers to unpack with the decision behind the current model, but I think this answer is the most practical reason. Hell, this whole internal fan war in the fan base over the Kami band wouldn’t really be a thing if they gave them masks in the first place.
I am sure we know the difference between the 2 Kami bands. East and west. They are different people. East are Japanese and they are my favorite. The west are not Japanese
In most of Babymetal’s live shows in medium sized venues (3000-6000) the Kami band is basically right next to the girls. The original Eastern Kami band has not been touring with Babymetal for the last couple years. I do wish they would shitcan the clunky masks.👊🏽⚡️🤘🏾🦊
Even you rant like that Kami band loves those girl and they dont think like that. 😂 All of the guitar of Kamis have sticker face of the girls at the back of it. But its okay, get your point 😂
The masks are the Western Kami bands choice. They wore masks before Babymetal. But yes, individual masks would be a good idea. Basing them on Japanese demons would be cool.
Ahh, took a bit of time, but here we are. btw, xsiq. x s I q...excess IQ...it was back when I felt smarter than I was. :P . Its just a fun song really for old school throwback stuff. If you take it too seriously, then you're not watching it right :P Times were simpler there. Kami in white with face paint verses black in masks. The legendary red and black, ahh...well, times evolve, right. Maybe it'll circle back and get the Kami back in some light. Appreciate the rant though, Agreed. Understated sidelined Gawr is current Kami. Anyhow, glad you liked it. Its cool. now curious how you view the next (In the name of). btw, Legend-Z was the female night...different concert.
Very true comments about the Kami band, I'd love to give them more respect for their unique artistic work. This takes nothing from the three girls, now ladies. Remove the masks, please, at least.
I think you're feeling disrespected in behalf of others. The band members have other bands too, and guess what: they still wear costumes and masks. Are they disrespecting themselves or that's simply what they've decided to do with their autonomy?
That 2013-2016 Babymetal era was my favorite.
2014 Budokan Red Night and Black Night - simply day 1 and day 2.
2015 Black Mass (male audience) Red Mass (female audience)
2016 Tokyo Dome Red Night and Black Night - again simply day 1 and day 2.
2017 Black, Red, White, Silver etc Fox Festivals had the specific audiences.

With the bigger productions and moving stages the Kami Band just happen to not be right behind the girls, so we see don't see them as much in those videos.
I concur with your response. I have watched many fan cams over the past year, and the Kamis were engaged in the performance, not mere statues. 🦊 🖖❤
@@IAMisLove I'd guess we've watched a lot of the same fan cams😁🦊🤘

This song is a cover by the band Kiba of Akiba
@@DaniloSouza84 I didn’t know this was a cover. I just listened to the original fucking love this song the girls version and Kiba’s
I think this might be my favorite BABYMETAL song low-key specially that outro Su belting Boa going off on the bass.
Original song from Kiba of Akiba Japanese alternative metal band Babymetal covers this song very well 💯.
Kamiband east and west are both equally amazing, no complaints about the masks or other appearances!!
I bought the dvd of this show. Never heard this one until I saw it. It's interesting.
Rick Wagner will know 😎
From my understanding, the Kami Band West, was where the masks were first used.
@@Ryujin170 Haha classic Headbanger, very well said 🦊👍
Great review as always DH.
Thanks David. True baby metal fan. Love your channel

Love Classic BabyMetal

I feel like there is a lost opportunity with the current presentation of the Kami. Ghost was the perfect comparison... everyone knows who's still the focal point of that act.
Yay first comment. Hey Dave. Nice reaction.
"They help write the music, but they no longer tour with the girls, even in Japan."
The only Kami Band member known to compose any BABYMETAL music is Leda Cygnus (Shinji Yuuto).
He arranged 'No Rain, No Rainbow'.
He's also the only Kami Band member known to be involved in any of the studio recordings.
the kami band didnt really write or record any studio stuff for babymetal, they do write stuff for their other projects tho.
@@Vipppala Except Leda.

btw this is best so girls have to play this again, & UkiUki too!
Did you say "They could care less" ? really david, didnt think you where one who used the saying wrong, its "They couldn´t care less"
The METAL GALAXY US tour ended at the FORUM in LA which sold out both nights. They did build a moving stage the one featured on PA PA YA
If you're talking about the official music video for 'PA PA YA!', that was filmed at Yokohama Arena.
The LA Forum show was a few months later.
@@rickwagner- What i was saying is that when BABYMETAL performed in at the Forum they built the same style of Stage.
Also, the LA Forum show was one night only (October 11th, 2019).
BABYMETAL performed at Aftershock in Sacramento, Portland OR and Seattle WA after that.
@@robertbradshaw8246 That's true.
They even got a local company to provide a double scissor lift for the moving octagonal stage.
🤘🦊
I get legitimately psyched when I see a new BM reaction on your channel. A long time ago I saw your reaction to the iconic performance of Road of Resistance, then Death, and I felt like I understood this band much better from watching your analysis while you got into them.
never stop ranting. unless you want to of course.
do from dusk till dawn

Good
Honestly, if they go with the masks, you could do individual masks and sell more merch.
I do prefer no masks though.
The masks are the Western Kami bands choice. They wore masks before Babymetal. But yes, individual masks would be a good idea. Basing them on Japanese demons would be cool.
TankTheTech describes the Electric Callboy tour to the U.S. He also touches the lending/transporting of the equipment.
Another point: Would love to see the two girls/women, now Momoko and Moa, have a greater part in singing just like Yui and Moa have here.
What the heck is this?

Times were simpler there.
I'm a fan but I've never like this song honestly. 😂😂😂😂 But I do agree with you, East Kamis and masks free should've stayed
Very true comments about the Kami band, I'd love to give them more respect for their unique artistic work. This takes nothing from the three girls, now ladies. Remove the masks, please, at least.
The masks are the Western Kami band's choice. They wore masks before Babymetal. You're helping push a false narrative here.
I think you're feeling disrespected in behalf of others.
The band members have other bands too, and guess what: they still wear costumes and masks. Are they disrespecting themselves or that's simply what they've decided to do with their autonomy?
