I respect you wanting to go fast and all, I used to be the same... but one day you're gonna get injured if you keep going like this. Its better to keep a smoother constant pace, you make less mistakes and you keep a clear head avoiding accidents.

Around here the truss company would step down those top chords on the hip trusses, and they would make a lay down truss to set across the top chords. Real easy.
I think you might be referring to what we call purlins. We get them time to time depending on the truss manufacturer...I believe Turkstra lumber is in love with that style. I don't really have a preference either way

U guys frame a lot differnt than we do, but proper nonetheless. We apply osb and neopor sheathing as well as air barrier while walls are still lying flat on the deck. Same with Gable ends, Gable flies up on a boom fully sheeted with birdboxes or eyebrows already built. Framing is a tough job that takes a specific type of fool to stick with.
Ive been tinkering with the go pro tilt angle...not quite right yet...on this video I was trying to show the overall straightness of the hip lines but didn't accomplish that but no luck

Yes, enter 22.5 inch run . Then your (#) inch , pitch. Then diagonal to find your common rafter length. Then right after that enter your hip pitch then push conv twice to do s your hip length
Let's say it's a 6 12 roof and the side is an 8 12 pitch. First to find the common 6 12 block enter 6 inch pitxh. Then 22.5 inch run . Then diagonal. Now you have you long to short block size. With this same screen open as is plug in 8 inch conv, the. Push hip twice. This will give you your 7/17 common long to short hip length.

I have the paslodes and hitachi cordless framing nailer but it is low on air boost. I take it to get a boost every yr or so. Kinda weak right now. If hitachi/metabo could figure out the hook situation they'd corner of he market
I've seen plenty of people shoot their hand and or foot by holding withing range of the nails. Its a matter of time. You can't anticipate when a nail is going to bend and come out where you didn't expect.
Not nailing off everything prior to moving on is not a good idea in one humble man's opinion as you have only one good bounce and there are not very many 60 framers just for this reason. Be careful, safe, and stay well.
I love your videos and I’m a huge fan, but why do you put so many nails in one block? We’ve always said the more nails you put in something the weaker it gets. Personally I would do 2 nails in each side and keep moving
If you offset them truss an inch and a half you can run a solid 2by 4 instead of all those fillers and have a stronger roofji once was a bad ass framer like you
Stay safe and learn to walk before you run. Get comfortable being behind the sheets and cracking them in. ....a good fatmax style tape helps to measure/lineup angles and helps in wind
Just figure out a system that works for you and stick with it. All roofs have basic similarities so focus on getting the basics down then the rest comes over time
Trusses we use have the 1inch and half notched out so u can run a 2by on the flat up the hip line..... those rafter blccks your using seem like a little shady like something i would use in a tree fort when i was ten lmao

I would ask around, jump in the truck and check out there work in person. Some people can sell themselves so well and then fail badly.

Scaffolding will not help on a roof . Only a harness will keep u safe but most guys feel it will get tangled and slow u down. There’s no real solution

Been framing for 25 years and my truss supplier has never done me dirty like that. Step down hip trusses are always low to allow for flat 2x4 purlins.
