Sooo addicted to this chick now really helping me thru some hard times. My boyfriend died a few months back, and still struggling and major anxiety. I always have Wonderhussy always playing even if I don't catch every minute of it. I've been a hardcore hiker myself but haven't hit any trails but my manuel treadmill, but Wonderhussy is inspiring me, and damn she has some balls! She's so awesome.
NOT stinky. The engine house cat at the N.N.R.R. is named "Dirt." He was born under the snowplow 12 years ago. His mom picked up the other kittens and left him, so the mechanics have been feeding and caring for him ever since. He is a long haired domestic, but is perpetually dirty from all the coal dust. We rode the train and visited the museum in 2019. Dirt will make an appearance on cue when there is a tour, so he can get head scratches and hopefully a free snack. He is the NNRR ambassador and I bought his T-shirt. LOL
Pretty hypocritical calling the cat "stinky" when she's been wearing the same clothes for 3-4 days. The cat would most definitely smell better than her.
FrankiesFancy Hey! That’s not only a mean comment, but it’s not true! She could’ve EASILY gone a couple of more days before even beginning to consider Wonderhussy “Stinky.” Maybe even a full week!
I was there a number of years ago. I was going through the shops and Dirt came out to say hello. I was told that he doesn't take to people. Well after multiple cheek and body rubs and ear scratching he was purring quite a bit. The person I was with told me that Dirt doesn't really like people. Well, I reached down and picked him up and put him over my shoulder. He started purring, and nuzzling my ear and kneading his paws on me. I eventually set him down, he gave me one last cheek rub and then sauntered off. The person I was with just couldn't believe what happened.
I have several ghost stories of Hotel Nevada....closet doors opening, lady in the elevator then disappeared. Crying woman in the stairwell. I don't drink so can't blame it on that 🤣
Stayed there in 2019, front desk lady was very nice and gave me the Hank Thompson themed room on the top floor. Great place to stay with a neat little casino. I'll definitely come back!
Likely the on-again, off-again vibrations came from the elevator. I have RON (rested over night) at Hotel Nevada over a dozen times in the last 20 years. I've never bunked in room 307 but that room looks typical of the hotel. Never any problems/noises or vibrations in my experience. It's an historic hotel very much like the delightful Mizpah Hotel over in Tonopah, NV which is older still. Rooms/bathrooms in both are very small but well appointed. Amenities are in abundance on both properties. Kind people, professional staff. The restaurant in Hotel Nevada was seriously awesome for many, many years. Unfortunately it's just another Denny's now. Regardless, Hotel Nevada is a keeper for me.

The effect of the lights from the sign coming through the window in your hotel room is fantastic! The shot of you sitting on your bed with the light pattern on the headboard is just so beautiful!
I stayed in a room on the top floor a couple of years ago. It was during a snow storm and it was magical! I liked the cafe that was there before Denny's moved in.

WOW an ART MAJOR ? Do the WONDERS of Wonder Hussy ever end. You are One Driven Person Great Video , Love Old Hotels. Bet there's some great stories about that hotel. Than You.
Nevada Northern Railway. The cat's name is Dirt and he doesn't smell. And he is world famous. I saw him last time I was in town. The train ride and tour (where you meet Dirt) are 110% worth it. Just do it.
Yes, I agree. Wonderhussy would boost viewers if she did videos now and then about some of the many existing and abandoned railroads in Nevada & Eastern California. Following an abandoned Railroad is fun exploration and a linear adventure of grades, old stations, bridges, etc.
There are two rather famous railroad shop cats at Ely’s NNRY. They are not stinky, just dirty because they live in a steam locomotive shop. They are aptly named Dirt and Dirt Junior (DJ for short). The engine without a train that you saw may have been someone enjoying a “Be the Engineer” experience, in which visitors can (for a price) take the throttle and actually operate a Century old steam locomotive.
Yes, I recognized the art work of the late great David Mann, he is and was the greatest biker artist ever. Remember seeing him at numerous bike shows at Ventura fair grounds and if you find some of his early art and then see his later pieces you will see a gentleman who really progressed in his style and abilities. Truly a great man and artist.
Awesome Adventure! The art was really neat! Your room looked so comfy, glad you are so upbeat Sarah! The neon lights and the lil train were really neat. I'd love to visit the places you visit, the best being that it's so warm...i've always wanted to visit a hot desert 🏜 I am with you on the "HOT" shower, glad it was better for your next day! You never fail to make things humorous! Can't wait for the next video! Hugs from Canada 🇨🇦🤗❤
Ely and White Pine county are awesome. If you were looking for a cool t-shirt, you should have gone to the railroad museum. Maybe Dirt could have autographed it with a paw print.
I’m in Genoa Nevada the oldest town with the oldest bar Sara. Try the chili at the country store across the street it’s fantastic. Out riding on the wing.
Boy, you sure have found your stride! Just yakking away fluently and chatting along...I love it! It’s probably why your channel has exploded since I first started....around 14k subs. Thanks again for the great videos!...Oh, and I’ve had a lot of trouble with panties too but that’s a whole ‘nother story!
The drive from Vegas to Ely is quite interesting. Nevada was quite different than what I had imagined. I had to stop several times to just enjoy the view.
Big fan of yours & your fun & unique videos. As a retired railroader who has worked the I-80 corridor in Northern Nevada from Verdi to Wendover, & up to Gerlach, it’s cool to see you visiting places I’ve worked in. My wife & I have visited Death Valley a couple times also, so I know something about those areas too. Love the pit hair! Lol
I used to have really good luck when we went deer hunting and camping. My clothes bag always got wet because some water jug leaked. So I started packing double only to have half my clothes soaked in water and the other half soaked in gas. Always fun!
There are people that can look youngish all the way through their 50’s and some other people that look old in just their 20’s, never judge a book by its cover.
I think she was 28 years old when Wonderhussy tried out for American Idol in season 4 episode 4, so that sounds about right. Yeah, she does look good for a 45 year old, you can tell by looking at her hands how much she's aged though.
@@brianlanders5306 She tried out for American Idol? As a singer? As she likes to say, Yikers! I looked great at 45. even my hands still looked young, but man when age started hitting me, it hit hard and fast! I've stayed in the hotel. For what ever strange reasons I really like Ely :) I'm not exactly a train buff but the railroad museum is worth a visit. The grounds and the buildings are at least as interesting as the trains. Keep up the good work Wonder Penguin!
Love Nevada and it's backroads. I won a thousand dollar jackpot, at the Hotel Nevada, the last time I went through Ely. I also ran out of gas once, on the road from Ely to Tonopah, and AAA sent a tow truck from Hawthorn, NV and one, by mistake, from Bishop, CA. One driver was livid! I can see you're like me - the more remote the road the better - enjoy the ride!

I used to work at the Robinson Mine in 1995-1997 and lived in Ely on the outskirts of town. Hotel Nevada had good breakfasts. Ely has some pretty good places to eat and many ice places to explore. Thanks for sharing your video!
We took a trip through the loneliest road based on your recommendation. We ended up staying in Eureka because we were concerned about social distancing in that hotel last year. We wanted to stay in that hotel - maybe we can do that now that we are vaccinated!

My husband said that the humming sound was most likely the Neon Signs since they do hum and it was right outside your window. We love watching your channel.
Great vid. I live near Ely in Cambridgeshire UK, named after the eels people used to catch in the river and fens. The cathedral and old town rise out of the fens like a ship! Presumably your early settlers may have come from here. So you could be following in the steps of ancient eel catchers!!!
I used to do a lot of traveling... those desolate towns have changed a lot... everywhere you go is a historical tourist spot... with Sky High room rates!
My first impression was a tiny cloud, my 2nd impression was a big balloon, but to be a balloon I'm either misjudging the distance of it relative to the cloud by it, or there are different winds at different altitudes. Could be something normal or something strange, but you were pretty sharp to notice it. . One thing's for sure, it's not zipping around at high speed making impossible turns or anything like that. Too bad she didn't notice it and zoom in.
I'm heading to Ely in late May. I looked at reviews for The Hotel Nevada and booked a room at the Jailhouse instead. And you made Steve Sisolak cry when you filmed yourself without your mask.
That shower still beats running naked through a car wash.(8-). Great video, Love. Thanks for sharing. I wouldn't have any qualms about staying at that hotel.
I really love old historic hotels, and I thought I’d recommend the Gadsden in Douglas, AZ. The town itself is interesting. They thought it would grow into a big city, and I think there was talk of making it the state capital, but they didn’t have enough water, so it stayed small. They did build an enormous hotel, befitting a major city, which fell into disrepair, but, under new ownership, they have been gradually renovating the place. I don’t know if they will ever get to all of the rooms, but they continue to work on it. We have visited the Gadsden a couple of times and stayed there once. In the bathroom in our room, there was a clawfoot bathtub, with a shower head. On the other end of the tub, there was a set of shelves with towels. When I saw this, I worried that the towels might get wet, but I needn’t have worried. When I turned on the shower, the water pressure wasn’t nearly strong enough to hit the towels! The hotel has a grand lobby, with an impressive staircase up to the mezzanine. The story is that Poncho Villa, on one of his raids, rode his horse into the lobby and up the stairs. This is your kind of place.
Good ol' Ely. I've stayed at the hotel Nevada... The water fluctuations meaning "what you get is what you get" more than sudden cold flashes. The water heater system is very small and if the hotel is fairly full, it just can't keep up. So, as you found, you'll get hot showers one day and cold the next but, not both at the same time (like the old "toilet flush" surprise)... I'd forgotten about Cherry cordials and Idaho spud bars, too! Great stuff... I used to drive thru on my way to/from California... More memories of bouncing around in the 4x4, trying to escape the military life, even if for a few hours. Even military folk need to clear their minds and souls, once in a while. :) When you live in Utah/Nevada deserts, you take it as it comes... Camping in the cold is work. Doable, did it all the time but, it's just more work with more gear, all of your actions are planned out, even just getting up and moving about. No cold-shaming here!

When I went through Ely on the way to solar eclipse it was packed with bikers. And hey I love the carpet on the stairs. It reminded me of all the gaudy decor in major strip casinos in the late sixties. They were nothing like they are today.
Some years ago, transitioned from car camping to staying in budget hotels/motels when out exploring off the beaten path. Much prefer hot showers, plumbing, etc. Thanks for the informative Ely Hotel review.
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Nevada in Ely back in 2018, and just loved it! There is a steakhouse around the corner from the hotel that is very nice as well. And, there are multiple stories of hauntings at the hotel, although we did not experience anything.

Its been years, but I seem to remember neon signs producing a "hum" from their ballast (?). Possibly the source of your mysterious vibrations.
Beat me to it.
Or the quarters in the bed
I thought this might be the culprit, too. The room's right next to that big sign.
That's my guess too.
Doubtful since neon signs don't receive messages or go on when a call comes in and then off. You're a genius

A great museum ! friendly folks .
I think you had your first ghost meeting. Haha I love that hotel! It had my bathtub so now I know how old it is 1929. Thanks
One of my favorite Harley rides out of Cen Cal....:-)..:-)
Was it worth putting makeup on for?! My cowgirl self felt that to my core 😂 ... ❤️
See you around! Onward bound!
I love your videos!
Wow, that was a cool hotel. I'd love to stay there if I go through Ely. But I would have had a nice hot dinner at Denny's.
Nice visit to Ely. That looks like a perfect Wonderhussy-style hotel.
Glad you could stretch your wardrobe to "cover" your trip. Always fun with WH.
Merry Christmas Wonderhussy. Its a few shots of Jack on Christmas eve and I'm watching. 2 years now. I'm a bit late.
OMG! That 3 dog night reference you made STRUCK HOME BASE BABY!!....btw, when are we gonna pick out our rings??
I loved Dave Mann Art in the Easy Rider Mags.
When you live in Utah/Nevada deserts, you take it as it comes...
Camping in the cold is work. Doable, did it all the time but, it's just more work with more gear, all of your actions are planned out, even just getting up and moving about. No cold-shaming here!
Q: He was the singer of 60's garage rock classic "Louie Louie" ... A: Who was Jack ELY ?? ding ding ding! That's.... ELY. of the Kingsmen. // According to the book: Brothels Of Nevada - Ely NV "A tough little town", once had three, count 'em 3 brothels: Green Lantern, Big Four, and The Stardust.
Great video Sarah,☺️
Always amazing. I just drove the loneliest hwy in America about 1 month ago. Bc, you made it seem so exciting. I went by the motel in Ely and thought of you.
Glad you finally got to hang out there.
Enjoy my dear.
Wish to meet you again.
I'll always have the Mt. Whitney portal
Elly… sounds sooooo biblical ! Sarah, are you saved ? Lol
Thanks for the share of your next adventure… You make loving fun… gee wish someone would sign a song to that…lol
Only the Great WonderHussy would be Haunted by a Vibrator in a Hotel in Nevada.....LOL
Would Love to stay at that hotel! Vibrating could have been one of the neon lights on the sign going out.
Sarah.....You are absolutely PRICELESS!!!!!
Man you keep it real and I love it! 🤣
Could have been the Neon Sign just outside of your window!!! I would stay there also, big thing looked really clean!!! Take Care and Stay Safe Wonderhussy!!!
Watching your videos just makes my day. Please do a bit soon about safety and traveling alone. You always seem safe. Do you ever explore alone? As a girl myself, these things are good to know. LOVE LOVE LOVE Wonderhussy adventures and YOU.
When I went through Ely on the way to solar eclipse it was packed with bikers. And hey I love the carpet on the stairs. It reminded me of all the gaudy decor in major strip casinos in the late sixties. They were nothing like they are today.
Sarah, I don't know how you find time to film all this, is but thanks Wonderpussy for all you do for us!
Sarah don’t worry you’re beautiful and doing a wonderful job on this video I love ❤️ your explanation on the video
oh , how awesome !
lovin the historic hotel 👍....
good werk , WonderHussy 😍🤩😁
Some years ago, transitioned from car camping to staying in budget hotels/motels when out exploring off the beaten path. Much prefer hot showers, plumbing, etc. Thanks for the informative Ely Hotel review.
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Nevada in Ely back in 2018, and just loved it! There is a steakhouse around the corner from the hotel that is very nice as well. And, there are multiple stories of hauntings at the hotel, although we did not experience anything.
Awe, you did good WH. I for one am impressed!
The 30s are the best time to be in the hot springs
Old Twilight Zone episodes were filmed in Old Hotels with a flashing neon sign outside...
Thanks again for letting me tag along , you crack me up when you said chonies. That was a code name my sisters used to say for their underwear , anyway exciting Adventures with Wonderhussy....
I was just there about a month ago...loved your video! Well done!
Love those Old Time Hotels! My Grandparents on my mom's side owned and operated a hotel in San Francisco! Was a Marble toned building with carpet everywhere and Chain Pulled Toilets! The Lobby was so Antiquely Accented! Even had a Piano and an Organ for the guests to play IF they knew how....no "Tinkering On Ivories" was allowed....LOLOL Great video as always WH...Cheers From Ohio
