I live down the road from this resort. It's not the woodstock you're thinking about. That woodstock is in Beth woods. But for real this resort killed the view of the mountains for us locals
No, that is THE woodstock, the festival was named after the town, micheal lang wanted it to take place in the town, the locals ran him out (not much changes, lol, similar to the stop the piule signs up and down mossy hill road prior to this resort being built) and he ended up having the woodstock festival in bethel woods, ny. Woodstock the town was already made famous because Bob Dylan and the Band were hiding in the Catskills and the festival was meant to pull Bob dylan out of hiding.
While we're very happy to welcome you to the beautiful Catskills, sadly a lot of things like the resort you went to hurt the locals a lot. I'm not saying you're not welcome here, but maybe try something like a Vrbo or an Airbnb... Just as beautiful and more economically and environmentally friendly :D Glad you had a great time though!
This video makes me bummed out. Rich NYC people got bored over Covid, decided to come up to the Catskills, open up a remote working millennial magnet generic soulless retreat that’s close enough to not be too much of a bother travel wise but far enough to feel like you’re in a truly rural area that doesn’t feel like nyc (well I should say, used to not feel like nyc) and dump millions into it from investors who don’t remotely care about the Hudson valley and their impact on the communities, driving housing prices up to where not many locals can realistically even live there anymore, all in the name of a weekend retreat for people that could go elsewhere Please be more self aware
@@meneither3834 im talking about in general of course not just her, there’s so many people like her who did similar things that came up during Covid and currently as well Loads of people with money coming up from NYC looking to start exploiting the Hudson valley absolutely changed things here, from housing prices skyrocketing to whole communities feeling completely foreign to locals, this area is becoming a wealthy family hotspot
@@DM-ry3nw The locals vote Republican anyway, what's their issues with the working of the free market and profit-seeking ventures. They're against market regulations I believe.
@@meneither3834 not all the locals, clearly you don’t know the area very well if you think the locals synonymously vote republican, it’s not just all “redneck hicks” who are locals 😅🙃 Maybe not all situations need to be politicized. not really a political thing though no doubt some people unfortunately make it about that It really just boils down to mass migration, a huge amount of people moved up quick changing the area rapidly, and because of the housing prices, it was mostly wealthy people moving up. If a bunch of wealthy people quickly move into an area, of course that area is bound to have many changes. Not everyone from here enjoys the millennial centric wealthier crowd that came here.
You had me until you stole at the end.

And she stole
I'm confused, do you think property value is too high in the Catskills and this girl is responsible ?
