    Keeping so many young fry alive and very healthy is a testament to the water quality and knowledge of the fish keeper so you're winning on both fronts there, man.

    Wish you were here in the states for the Aquatic Experience this weekend...you’re a huge hit here...you would be welcomed with open arms! Jackson is coming along beautifully. The koi are stunning. Lol about the Angels...mine do the same thing with the crazy spawning especially after a water change. Love the yellow Sakura’s. Everything looks fantastic!! I get so happy when I get a notification that you posted something 👍😁😍

    I love betas. I had one when I was young in an aquarium with other fish. I would put my hand in the water and he would swim into my hand and chase the other fish away. I would give my left pinky finger to have one of Jack's progeny. Sadly, I'm in the US so that isn't possible. I'll probably adopt a "stray" from the aquarium in the spring. ....and now I want shrimp. Thanks Mark :)

    Hi Mark, great vid as always. I was wondering how do you keep a low mortality rate on your fry. I do water changes every day and feed them well but of the batch, I normally have a survival rate of about half.

    I like to keep daphnia, specifically moina ephippia which is smaller than daphnia pulex or magna and can be kept in higher concentrations. I just keep 2 lots going in 5 gallon buckets and they produce a lot of young. The adults are about twice the size of hatched brine shrimp and the young are smaller than brine shrimp. The fish love them and they don't die in fresh water like brine shrimp.

    Could you may be do a video about RO water. I want to try Neocaridina again, but after failing miserably last time I'm really trying to understand what went wrong and the only thing I keep coming up with is a shedding issue linked to lack of minerals in the water although I'm in a hard water area 🤔 Also, Most folks that are succeeding seem to use remineralised RO. This isn't something I've ever had experience of and maybe others are the same? Could you show us the RO unit in operation, how you remineralise it and how and for how long it can be stored? Do you still use the Montmorilanite clay balls too?

    Hey Mark, how's it going? i cannot seem to get my shrimp to multiply... ive tried everything from more water changes, to feeding kale, and lots of plants. i had a bad round of berried shrimp about a month ago, but every time one would berry up, it would die... my water parameters are quite stable, and everything appears to be well within paramters, so im not sure what is going on... ive only ever had an increase in shrimp once. about a year ago. i bought 20 off a local guy, and ended up with closer to 50, then they dwindled down to about 6, then i bought 20 more orange rilis, and lost about half of them over the course of 6 weeks... ive somehow managed to keep 2 amanos for almost 3 years now though... im just not sure what im doing wrong...

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x 6 років тому

      i just retested, and it appears my PH went high for some reason...
      parameters:
      PH: 8.2
      ammonia: 0ppm
      nitrite: 0ppm
      nitrate: 0ppm
      GH: 4
      KH: 5
      maybe the ph swing is killing them off... i have no idea why my PH would swing like that...

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x 6 років тому

      just did some reading, and last time i tested PH was in the morning. i just tested it 10 minutes ago with the lights having been off for 2 hours... last time i tested this tank, the ph was sitting right around 7.2 though... is that normal?

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  6 років тому

      Always check your ph at the same time of day as as small fluctuations will occur through the night ok. 7.2 is ok for neocaridina shrimp if that's what your keeping. Try upping your food and give them fresh boiled broccoli. What do you use for water changes. Ro or dechlorinated water?

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x 6 років тому

      @@MARKSAQUATICS I use treated tap water. I dont have any minerals, so I cant use RO. i can pick up RO at my lfs, but I'd need to get the minerals, which are not cheap local... I may end up switching to RO here pretty quick though... sick of not being able to keep shrimp thriving :(

    Can i use speanish and almond leaf and elgy can i use these thing for making shrimp food

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  6 років тому

      Yes you can. Spinach is best softened in boiling water and then fed to the shrimp. Almond leaves are best put in the tank whole and left to slowly break down and the shrimp will eat it over time.
