Im so glad you do listen to what we say in the comments because we really mean it! Take all the time you guys need and don’t worry about us too much 😊❤
I used to work in a children's library and so if you're looking for book recommendations, Magic Treehouse, Boxcar Children, The Phantom Tollbooth, Roald Dahl (so many people don't know The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and it makes me sad), and Beatrice Potter's books are some of my favourites. They might be a little old for your children though but when the time comes I highly recommend them!
Not sure who liked Magic Treehouse books better, my kids or me. I read them to the kids before they could read them themselves. This was 20+ years ago. I’m glad these books are still available. They were wonderful.
Can I just say, as an English person, I'm used to getting only really one type of mixed reaction when other people learn I am English on the internet, which is attraction to my accent mixed with an immediate need to insult England/the UK by saying our teeth sucks, our government, the Royals etc. So I want to say that it is such a lovely breath of fresh air to hear you talk so highly of English classics and English culture that I am quite fond of and grew up with, and to hear you talk with such passion and pure love. Thank you Katie! It really makes me feel treasured as a person across the pond ^^.
Take whatever time you need, Katie! Porcini mushrooms are tasty as hell! I never used to like mushrooms as a kid- pulling them off pizzas & everything, but one night- my mum did butter-fried mushrooms, & I decided to try them- boom! I was a convert - when I saw this freeze-dried mushroom snack, I tried it & absolutely *loved* them. It's amazing what we can open ourselves up to, when we try culinary challenges...
As I was saying: The soap is beautiful, the theme sounds like a lot of fun, just relax and enjoy as much as you can and we will too. (Also: I'm fascinated by amanitas myself. So beautiful yet so deadly...)
i just have to say that you're one of the most beautiful perons inside and outside! You're like that one friend that always has your back. your videos just bring me so much joy, especially one the darker days. thank you so much for being so real and authentic!
I love going to antique shops, they usually have a small section of baby spoons. The fancy ones are solid metal with little painted figurines on the spoon handle. My favorite is a white rabbit with a blue waistcoat holding a drum. Super adorable!
Growing up my favourite books were all by Enid blyton. When I was younger it was "the magic faraway tree" and as I got older I fell in love with "the famous five" collection of stories. I wish all of her books were more well known across the world!!
I would love to see a magic far away tree series! They were my favorite books as a child and I still have them today. My mom says little me insisted I needed to keep them for when I have my own children 😂
Enochi mushrooms are my FAVORITE! But a stir fry of enochi, shitaki, and oyster mushrooms is SOOOOO yummy. Oyster mushrooms also taste just like oysters!
Love this theme! If you're looking for really beautiful hidden picture books that also have a great story, get some Graeme Base books! Uno's Garden and the Eleventh Hour have been family favorites for many years now, especially the Eleventh Hour with its mystery element. I'm sorry to hear you've been having a rough time, Katie, and I'm sending all my love and positivity your way!💚💙💚
We just had a Borrowers Party with our homeschool book club! It was a blast; our family actually read all 6 or whatever books in the series, it was awesome!
I'm an avid mushroom hunter so this was fabulous! My favorites to hunt for are what we call ramshead, also known as sheepshead, hen of the woods (they totally look like a fluffed chicken), and mietake. One of the only mushrooms I like to eat. Also love blewits (yes, they're blue/purple), cinnabars (teeny tiny, intense red), and jack-o'-lanterns (poisonous but they glow green!).
katie looks absolutely stunning! the dark hair and her beautiful blue eyes balance so nicely with her soft yellow shirt. and such a wonderful heart to top it all off! thanks for sharing your creativity katie
My son had a mushroom themed birthday for his second birthday because he loves them so much! I made him a tree stump cake and made little shrooms out of macarons and meringues! I loved this soap, and I loved the old format!! It's Katie's laughing at little things that really brightens my day!
My kids are obsessed with an online book turned audiobook called The Wandering Inn. It’s not for kids, but mine absolutely love the fantasy and adventures in it.
Feeling so grateful and listened to (maybe just cos things have gone my way...!) to hear you returning to the tried and tested format :) love you guys, love how yall take care of eachother. Your family feels like the huge family I always dreamed of. Keep on keeping on from the UK! Xx
11:24 My favorite is called “Amanita muscaria”. Before today I didn’t even know that it actually existed! I thought it was just a cartoon thing, but they’re real! A red cap with white/beige dots!
I like those black mushrooms that you find in asian food. Those taste amazing And my favourite mushrooms to look at are the ones that grow in a circle in the woods. That looks sooo pretty and magical
Bamboo mushrooms are my jam. I also love that they’re alternatively called “veiled lady” mushrooms, because it does look like they’re wearing a veil! (I do not recommend anyone uncomfortable by holes/clusters to look them up though.)
The green and blue mushrooms on the side give me an ear vibe with the way they ate places mext to the red. It kind of looks like Mickey Mouse ears to me. I love mushrooms, when they are cooked right, and I love the look pf this soap. You are an amazing soap maker and content creator. Keep up the amazing work. My favorite mushroom is chanterelle mushrooms.
My two favorite mushrooms are crazy beautiful and a little mysterious - the Entoloma Hochstetteri and the Amethyst Deceiver. They’re bright blue and purple, respectively! Highly recommend looking them up if you want to be amazed with nature’s capabilities.
Candy cap mushrooms!! They taste like maple syrup. I had candy cap ice cream once and it was amazing! Not sure what they look like but they are delicious.
UA-cam is going to be very calming for me right now. I have a had some bad things happen lately. So you and a few other channels help keep calm cause you all are so Cheerful 😊 ☺️ 😍
I have a sweatshirt with those old-school natural drawings of various mushrooms and I love it. I love the red spotted ones as well. Honestly, not a fan of the taste of a lot of mushrooms, but they look amazing! 🍄
My favorite mushrooms are shelf mushrooms that grow on trees! I always imagined they were the stairs to fairies' houses. But their doors are invisible!
On the topic of Morels - my mom's family farm was a HOT SPOT for morels and my brother loved mushroom hunting. Every year around Easter we would have buckets of mushrooms and we would eat them until we were sick of them and giving them away. Now that everyone is grown up, busy, and spread to the 4 winds - I haven't had morels in years. I once tried to buy some (nostalgia hits really hard when the dandelions pop up). Dear lord - I never thought our "poor snack" would be so expensive.
I absolutely love the look of Oyster mushrooms, I love how they cluster and they are super tasty! It would be so neat to see maybe a Pattington Bear soap someday? it would be so cute with a little jacket embed and an orange sent! 🥰
I have 2 favorites, Enoki especially if cooked in an Asian sauce. Or Portabella made as the base for pizza toppings or cooked in balsamic dressing and in a sandwich with brie or goat cheese and arugula, and some garlic aioli.
Morels are thee tastiest mushroom, imho. The cutestest are the red with the white dots. And, the mycelium that connects the whole system underground is fascinating. They "speak" to each other and oh, and how they're the forests "garbage disposal" system, basically. It's all so very cool. Yay hurray for fungi! ❤ 😎🍄
And Australia - we loved! Postman Pat!! We get a mix of american and english TV here. So we also grow up on Sesame Street, and Play School which is Australian. Oh, i feel like Katie would enjoy Mr Squiggle.
I like the glow in the dark, disc mushrooms that grow up the sides of trees. They grow in a spiral up the trunk so it looks like a staircase for fairies 🥰
My mom is from Wales so we read alot of UK books as kids. Amelia Bedelia, Miss Piggle Wiggle, The Man books, Rohl Dahl and the serendipity book series were family favorites. If your kids like cats, yputuber Kitten Lady (Hannah Shaw) has a cute new series of chapter books based on her foster kittens.
I love the soap. So cute! Shitaki or Porcini mushrooms have got to be my favourites - just cause they're fun to say! I'm so glad you're taking the time to look after yourself and anyone who needs you! Take as much time as you need and chill out. Big hugs from the UK ❤️
My favourite mushroom is the Orange Peel Fungus, Aleuria Aurantia. It really looks like orange peels, or like fabric that's gathered up. So pretty! And orange is my favourite color
Adorable soap! I love mushrooms and fungi, I think they're so fascinating. But, since watching The Last Of Us I find them slightly less cutesy nowadays.
Mushrooms count as seek and find, especially if you are mushroom forager. I love chanterelles, beautiful and delicious! Chicken of the woods! I love the color of wild Enoki.
I had an audible sigh of relief when Katie started talking and not a voice over. I just love this format. I love hanging out with Katie 😭
I absolutely agree. 😊
My mom read us the Laura Ingles Wilder books as our intro to chapter books, such fun memories.

Oh my goodness, The Phantom Tollbooth was one of my favorite books as a kid!
The Phantom Tollbooth is the single best read-aloud book EVER. Even if the kids won't get the cleverest jokes, it's still good fun.
