    I can't believe the most authentic tutorial of this song has so few views and likes. There are quite a few crap versions on YT. Thanks Sean for the lesson, you're awsome!

    Damn, if you'd have released this video earlier this year the Smash Mouth twitter account wouldn't have dunked on our live performance of All Star.

    Thank you so much! My 8 yo son loves this song and I am happy to accompany him with my guitar, while he is singing and playing by synth bass and drums line

      Dunno exactly. I didn't record it. Only started playing with the guys in 2011. Sorry.
      What instruments do you hear?

    After this tutorial a may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I might be the shooting star that breaks the mold.

    What gear was used trying to emulate on a budget with my boss katana 😂 finding settings for any ska reggae is so difficult!

      What I was using? Or the original one twenty something years ago?

      @@SeanHurwitzMusic let's rephrase that what gear do you gig with to achieve this legendary sound 🤘

      Realised after typing this you have a kemper 🤣 maybe a better attempt of what I'm asking is what pre amp model should I typically use all whats the low mids and highs looking like and any other effects used. For the most part I'm not a beginner with effects but things like compression phaser etc I find difficult identifying so any advice is helpful really ❤️

      @shanetaylor6823 hahahaha. Well, for the love stuff I use a Fractal AX8 these days and I’d have to check what I’m using for the drive. Let’s check again when I’m out on the road starting April 18th. But I’d say I’m pretty sure I’m just using a good amp preset for a dirty drive there. Nothing out of the ordinary. Anyone can do it. 😊 There are no phasers or anything like that.

      @SeanHurwitzMusic that sounds quite straight forward. Let me know when your on the road tbf I'm sure a video from yourself showing the settings your pedals and amps on would do well on UA-cam much less explaining if you report back to! Thanks for the advice and hope the road treats you well sir! ❤️

    Hey dude can you please explain what rig exactly you've used for this song's tone? I'll be performing your role live soon and I want to get my kemper ready :)

    • @SeanHurwitzMusic

      Hey Maor 👋🏼
      So... As you can see around 3:23, I'm using a Fractal AX8. Are you using that as well?
      If not, just use some clean sound that's compressed and then a fuzz kind of drive for the chorus.
      You need me to get more detailed? 😊
      Lmk

      @@SeanHurwitzMusic YO DUDE! Thanks a lot for answering so fast wow! such an honour !! And got it! I'm using the kemper profiler stage, would you say that using a fender amp and cab will be true to your live equipment for this song?

    • @SeanHurwitzMusic
      @SeanHurwitzMusic  3 роки тому +1

      I think I'm using a Bogner soundalike in the AX8. But yeah, a Fender amp and cab would do it fo sho 👍🏼👍🏼
      The main thing other than that would be to get a good compressor on the clean sound. 😊

    That third chord with the C#, E and G. Stacked minor thirds. It's a C#dim. Such an unusual chord in a pop or rock song. I've actually never seen it ever. Who came up with that??

    • @SeanHurwitzMusic
      @SeanHurwitzMusic  11 місяців тому +1

      It’s just a C# and E. No G on the guitar at least. I believe Greg Camp wrote it all by himself. Hope that helps 😊

    A minor flat. A major flat needs a tow truck.
