You are a good guy. I have learned so much about drones from you. Not just flying them but the recording, repair, upkeep. Everything needed to work toward being a good pilot. Thank You very much for everything. I'm not great but I don't feel like a dummy anymore. I'm disabled and you have given me something to get up for in the morning. I don't just sit in a chair looking at a TV. I can go fly my drone.q TV.. Keep it coming PLEASE! LOVE YA! THANX AGAIN!!!!
Thanks Bubba! That means alot mate. Yeah there is plenty to get up for in the morning, sometimes you just have to look a little bit harder, but with a positive attitude you will always find something! Thanks mate!
Finally got my mini 2 yesterday…early birthday gift from wife
Have been watching your vids since the release and helped me out a lot with everything
Thanks and keep them coming
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Oh mate you're very welcome - that's great!
Love the hand lettered landing pad!
Ha ha truth be told it is one of those plastic bottoms that you get in a reuseable supermarket bag 🤣

Cheers Bubba! Enjoy flying the drone mate!
First time viewer of your channel. Checking out the drone information you're posting. I just picked up a mavic mini, which should be similar to the mavic mini 2 that you have.
Definitely learning a lot. Thanks so much!
Thanks J Crozier, I appreciate that! 😊
Great Video and I have had the DJI Mini 2 for 2 months here in the New York area of the USA
Thanks for that! Oh wow would love to see some footage!
I appreciate you sharing the test runs... it adds confidence to my own flying experience.
Douglas - El Paso, Texas
Thanks Douglas - I appreciate that and I'm glad it helped. I've been to Austin but never El Paso - would love to some day!
Hey Mike! Beautiful NZ! Love the edit / sound mix on transitions, esp. the first flight test. Might have to try this something like this - imitation being the best form of flattery! You should be working with the NZ tourist board.
Hey Cliff, very kind of you to say mate - thanks for that! 👍😊
Thanks for that demo, I just purchased a used one and will receive it this Monday.
You're welcome! Oh you will love it! Enjoy!
Good test Mike. I do the same with my Mini 2 as you do, stop it before it lands and land it on the landing pad myself to avoid prop damage etc. Love you NZ landscape.
Thanks Fred Munson, great brains think alike eh? 🤣
Love the music and editing, well done!
Thanks! I really appreciate that! I didn't intend to do that when I filmed the video but as I was doing the dit it just felt right!
Always look forward to your videos. It’s makes flying so much easier.
That's very kind of you to say mate, thank you, I appreciate that!
@@GetBusyLiving Thank you and please be safe ~ Paul
Great video! Really interesting stuff and very useful/informative for the DJI community. Thanks for sharing! Liked and subscribed. Cheers from the UK. 👍👍👍SAA
Oh wow - that is super kind of you to say! Thank you so much! 🙏
Yes you done good there Mike and the video was great also. The distance was pretty good for rth my mini 2 gives me different landing points from .5 to 3 mtrs but I'm happy with that. Cheers Mike keep up the great videos.
Thanks for your ongoing support Drew! Yeah mate that is more than good enough for me!
nice video 👍liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing 😀
Oh thank you! I appreciate that! Cheers!
Agreed, great drine as you can still use the gimble and spin it around in any direction nd the RTH will still be activated, as with some other drones, as soon as you move the sticks the RTH will be disabled. Really impressed with the mini 2.
Mine has always landed within 2 foot when the RTH is activated which is not very often at all, prehaps 4 times i have used it for exactly the same reason as your watching this video.
Thanks mate, good comments - thanks for sharing!
G'day Mate! As usual an excellent report well presented. Very consistent with my own testing when I first got the Mini 2. One small favor though, could you find a boring place to record your videos? It makes me so envious of the beauty and grandeur that seems to surround you. Probably a dumb question but what is the large body of water you were flying towards? As always, thanks!
Hey Mike! Thanks mate I really appreciate that. Actually it's an inlet that is part of the Waitemata Harbour, on the East of Auckland 👍Thanks for your support mate!
man I bet it felt good to get out and about, eh??? That was a cool spot to do this demo... Any fish in that creek? lol Great demo and great results... Glad you guys have a bit more freedom of movement now, buddy... Stay sane! lol
Hi mate, yes it certainly did! Shops are still shut and I still can't get a haircut, but it's progress! Thanks mate!
@@GetBusyLiving lol. Haircuts are overrated anyway man
Good day, Mike. I have tried RTH accuracy several times and it always turns out like your experience. Close but no cigar. I have tried hovering at different heights while looking down at the pad and updating the home point several times. It does not have the capability of the larger drones to detect its location visually while landing. But as long as it gets close, I can manually steer it to me for hand landing.
100% mate! That's good enough for me. I have no need for it to land by itself millimetre perfect.👍
Awesome video
Thanks Spearfishing Pastor, I appreciate that! 😊
Hi Mike, good to see you guys drive on the right side of the the road 👍 or should I say left 🙂
Ha ha yeah, all the great countries do mate 🤣
Great to get out a bit .... nice flight, I figure if it lands within 3 feet of my lift off point which my mini2 does is close enough for me .... I am surprised at you being 3 meters away. Hmmm.... Over all it is very good.
Yeah mate overall I reckon that's pretty good eh! 👍
please what processor do you have in PC ? What program do you use for the video ? Im Czech im litle bit english.I Have Ryzen 3 2200g and video in 4K recorded video in drone is good but when editing in vegas is cut is market not good video.
what processor I have with
I have a 2019 Macbook Pro and I use Final Cut Pro for editing.
@@GetBusyLiving thanks
Mike, test 2 and 3 you dod not let it set the home point and just took to the sky. Just maybe it had something to do with being off. Test one you let it set home point therefore it was closer
Thanks mate 👍
Hi, can you honestly tell me if this drone has a good distance range with no problems, so i can buy it, thanks
Yes I can honestly tell you this drone has a good distance with no problems. Check out my range test here ua-cam.com/video/ViDF5nqP09M/v-deo.html
@@GetBusyLiving thanks and hello from greece
@@takistsan340 Super stoked to have viewers in Greece - amazing! Welcome!
Nice Mike, to date i have only used return to home on one occasion. Mind you i have only flown a max distance of about 1 km. Seeing it lands close to landing pad and not on it, is a reason i do not use a landing pad whatsoever.
Yeah, as a general rule I don't use one. That one was the bottom of a supermarket bag 🤣
@@GetBusyLiving 😃
Problem for me is that a lot of the landscape is rough and if you find a nice flat area to launch from as your home point, if it isn't accurate in RTH then it could land on rough ground which could damage the drone. And sometimes because I'm not at the RTH point I can't manually land it the last few metres.
Yeah that could be a little dicey!
Great test and flight!
I'm just happy it comes back 😁⚠️😊
Doesn't have to be 'Space Station Docking' accuracy for me lol 😊
Have seen a lot of these type of tests where pilots are disappointed it landed 6 inches out from where it launched! 😯
Cheers mate I appreciate that! 👍
Ok on testing RTH. But you only tested in one basic direction following the river. It would have been better in following the points of the compas, then you would get an indication of wind effecting RTH. Just my observation I have on this sort of test.
Fair enough thanks mate.
Great scenery in the video. I wish the Mini 2 had precision landing like the more expensive DJI drones. It seems like that should be something that could be updated in the firmware. It is a thrill for me to see a drone land on the "H" by itself, but that could a sign of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Ha ha yeah definitely OCD mate, to me the RTH is to get the drone back to home, not land mm perfect from where it took off 😊
Mike, why does it fly forward before or as it lifts off ? Also have you set the compass recently I find my Mini 2 is far more accurate than yours for some reason ?
Hi mate, it's not flying forward it's slipping. THe plastic mat is on a slope (I'm on a hill) and as it slowly lifts off it loses grip and slips forward 😊
Mine does just as well. Very pleased. What video mixing program are you using? I haven't picked one as yet.
Yeah they are pretty consistent eh? Thanks mate. I use Final Cut Pro.
Does the RTH point update while the drone is still on the pad or during hover just after take off? If just after take off, then in all your tests, the drone had moved slightly away from the pad for its hover, meaning that the RTH point was not actually the pad. Still impressive and very usable never the less
Yeah that's true, I did notice that for one of the flights, it updated just as it took off.
Whats the name of the song?
Oh I will have to go back and check - I git it off Epidemic Sound. Didn't look at the name, just went through listening until I found one I liked.
@@GetBusyLiving okay thanks
Nice video Mike. So if the return to home signal depends on the strength of the GPS, and it takes the strongest reading from that data, would the amount of satellites affect the GPS signal strength and therefore the RTH point? I think more testing is required in Scotland where satellites are as rare as Haggis ;-)
Very good question Al, I might have to check on that, I'm not sure! Yes I guess logically the more satellites to 'triangulate' a signal would improve the accuracy.
Once again, nice work. Although i don’t think there are micro chips in the vaccine 😂, my expectations are a little higher as far as RTH accuracy. I have a Spark, an Air 2 and a Mini 2 and love each one for what they can do.
That being said, when it comes to RTH accuracy, the Mini 2 falls short. Both the Spark (old technology?) and the Air 2 will land back on the pad after a 200+ meter flight. The Mini 2 does as shown in your video.
I guess my surprise is how good the Spark is for a 4 year old machine
Fly safe, always 👍
Thanks mate I appreciate that! Wow you are pretty demanding 😊
Hi Mike , I don't care if it lands on the Pad or not , as long as it comes back , I'm good , thanks and take care .
I agree with you 100% Jeremy. There have been a number of comments from people complaining that it wasn't accurate enough! Hard to please some I guess...
@@GetBusyLiving,yep , great stuff Mike , keep up the great work you are doing , I like your reviews .
@@jeremyboyce1537 That's very kind of you mate, thank you 🙏
Man what do u do for living?
I work for a retailer.
I wonder why it came back sideways. I only wish it had better sensors
I think it's performance was pretty good!
It has great sensors just not the right visual sensors for an accurate return to home.
Why is it odd that Fishing and Hunting are on the list?
Several reasons. Any outdoor activity that may involve needing to be rescue or assistance required by other people have been banned for some time, including fishing, kayaking, surfing etc. Plus I can go hunting but I still can't get a haircut, I'm looking like a wookie so I might end up in a hunter's sights 🤣
I have never tried that with mine. I should someday.
I was just curious. I was pretty happy with the results!
Feel bad for you guys in NZ. They haven't been as bad here in the US but I'm sure it's coming.
You talking about the lockdown mate?
Enjoy your reviews and knowledge of the Mini 2.....but you scare the hell out of me driving on the left side of the road. Glad we don't do that in Florida. Just joking... I do love my Mini 2 and its features.
Ha ha same applies to me driving on the right! 🤣
Thanks for showing Mike. For it's price and equipment it is a very capable drone
Could not agree more! Thanks for watching! 🙏
I have a question for you and anyone else can answer this if they know the answer... On a full battery set return to home 6 miles away in a nearby Baseball field.. Do you think it would make it.. That's 6 miles away 100% battery and tail wind 🤔 Will it make it..?
No! My Mavic 2 Pro went 6.2 miles away and came back but I did it in a regional area with all the sensors turned off I had 5% battery left
Doubt it, would't risk it mate.
it is a bit dissappointing. Considering the original mavic pro which is a bit outdated now has a more accurate RTH. I have seen tests of the new mini 3 pro which also does not have the best RTH accuracy.. I guess the mini lineup generally does not great RTH accuracy.
Oof, you're a tough man to please!
Since the Mini2 has NO sensors for landing, it relies completely on the accuracy of GPS - typically 1-3-meters. Landing accuracy has little to do with the Mini2. As long as I can find it, it's accurate enough.
Agreed!
No chips in the COVID vaccine? Crap! I thought it came with snacks!
Ha ha Fishing For Fun, it was free here so I wasn't too bummed - hope you didn't have to pay for yours and were expecting snacks 🤣
@@GetBusyLiving Yeah, free here too. 😁👍 I need to go for a booster soon. I guess I’ll bring my own damn snacks 😂👍
@@fishingforfun9937 Ha ha yeah I guess so! Nothing's ever easy right!? 🤣
The homepoint is the controller, NOT the takeoff point.
It can be either
