    Putting a new roof on my shed. Watched a lot of roofer videos. One thing I found out. Everybody does something different. So what do I do? I pick the guy with the best presentation. You're a good speaker, you stick to the facts, you don't have an attitude, and you don't tell me a bunch of stuff I don't need to know. You're above average. Thanks

    I shopped at my big box store looking at roof vents. I think a video on vents and vent options would be good information to have. I have a roof vent fan with a burned out fan motor and lots of hail damage on the aluminum top. I'm going to want to replace that vent and install more ventilation in my roof without creating too many holes in my roof. Back in August I found a roof leak. Turns out it was a bullet hole right over my bathroom from last July stupidity of my neighbors. I caulked everything and it's holding for now but my roof has been damaged also from falling branches from my next door neighbor's roof. I think I'm going to have to hire a lawyer for that. My roof has an Eastern side and a Western side with hip roofs on the East and West. We have prevailing West and SW winds much of the year.

    The Pro 50s have small dash lines now where the vent should sit on the hole for proper ventilation. An easy template for the vent cut is to use a shingle. The height of the shingle is the same width as the exterior vent cover.

      In North America we vent our roofs to prevent moisture and rotting of the roof decking.
      In Europe I believe you use tiles on spaced strapping which wouldn’t require ventilation. (Don’t quote me on this as I am ignorant on European roofs)

    Thanks for the knowledge man. How do you calculate the number of vents you need on a roof?

    • @Z-Ack
      @Z-Ack 2 роки тому

      Your ratio of roof vents to soffit venting needs to be where the soffit is greater than the roof venting. But generally you want one every 15 feet only on the backside of the roof. Unless you have ridge vents then you dont really need any extra venting.. you want to make it where the airflow will enter through the soffit and exit through the top venting, if the ratio is off then the moist air gets trapped inside and doesnt circulate.. theres a website that has the specifics but i forget exactly ...
