It's the only reason I have not sold off a console a don't use all that much. If I am not given a performance mode for that game on my 1200 series launch model PS5. I am going to be PISSED!
The launch PS5 came with a disc drive and it was $500. This nominally more powerful model doesn’t come with a disc drive and costs $200 more (we still haven’t seen a price drop on the OG PS5 which should have already happened). With the disc drive and taxes, this console is $300 more than the original. That’s almost the same price as the original PS5 alone.
Yeah and he said it’s not that much more than you paid at launch😂 with the disc drive that’s almost double $499 vs $899. I dont see any features that would be beneficial or even justify buying this if you already have a PS5 of any kind😮!
Sony had the nerve to advise 8k 120FPS on the box of the original Playstation 5. Even with the Pro version that's not happening. I think we are not seeing that until PS9 if console gaming is around then.
if you have the slim disc version i don't see a problem here, cuz you can remove those and put it on the pro version unless you don't have a ps5 or using the old version but in that case i think it should have been $650 at most without disc drive.
"Your not paying too much tremendously more" right cause $200 isn't a lot of money. Sony must think people just have that lying in their couch cushions
and that's comparing the disc-less Pro to the disc ps5. Truly it's "not tremendously more", just 75% more than the digital ps5 cost when it launched 4 years ago.
no disc, no stand, whats next? no plug? no controller?.. let me make it more clear, the only reason that me, personally as an adult PC owner buys consoles is for two reason alone, comfort and game collection. If physical games becomes and option, the logical move is to stay on PC since it give me more versatility
This £700 price tag is what happens when only one console does a Pro version. Not to mention if you want both a disc drive and vertical stand it's going to cost you £830 in total.
According to rumors, Microsoft is preparing to instead release their Next-Gen Xbox in 2026. Besides the price, the biggest issue with the PS5 Pro is that it's still limited by the almost 5 YEAR OLD tech of the base model (eg. CPU, Amount of Memory, etc.). Without any significant price cuts throughout a console generation, a more iterative approach is beneficial. For example, who do Sony expect will buy a PS5 in 2027 for the same or a higher price than when it launched 7 YEARS AGO!
Thanks Sony, I really wanted a more expensive console that has no disc drive which I have to pay extra for to play the 2 exclusive games you have at the resolution you promised last gen ago!
They already play at those resolutions, this is just less or no compromises. Also complaining over a pro model of a device I'd hilarious. You can stick with the regular one if it's too much.
@findvolume why are you glazing Sony bro? This gen has under delivered big time and this ps5 pro release is the last nail in the coffin. The ps5 pro is cpu limited big time. It is literally pairing a ryzen 3600 with a 7700 xt. It is a joke with no disc drive and stand.
@harshrajjadhav940 No one is glazing anyone. It's an enthusiast pro model device. It will be expensive. Technology is not cheap. The iPhone 16 is $800, the Pro Max is $1200. Comparing it to a PC is also stupid. You're not going to have a full PC that matches and spend only $700. You have to buy all the parts and build it plus a monitor and mouse and a keyboard.
@@findvolume the ps5 doesn't come with a TV either. Also if someone plays a lot of games the amount saved in game cost will be worth spending extra on a pc. There is nothing 'enthusiast' about the ps5 pro. It's a lazy money grab. 4k60 was promised by Sony with the ps4 pro. Apple are not a standard for good consumer practices, they're one of the most exploitative companies around.
@harshrajjadhav940 The PS5 doesn't come with a TV but nearly every house has a TV, if not multiple so I don't get why you're trying to compare because your argument falls flat. @TheKing8608_ I dont think people want to spend an additional $200 for slightly better Ray tracing and existing Fsr rebranded. Instead of giving the option of ps5 to lower resolution to hit 60fps they're just selling you the pro. Oh $80 extra for a disk drive.
$699.99 with no disc drive is absolutely psychotic. Most people will ignore this but it will likely push some people to build PCs and abandon consoles. Pure Hubris from Sony.

A big problem with the PS5 Pro is that although the PS5 was released at the end of 2020, because of scalpers and scarcity, it took almost 2.5-3+ years before you could even easily find one on the shelves to buy. So many PS5’s out there belong to people who were just recently able to get one, and now Sony is releasing a mid-generation upgrade at a HUGE cost, and they didn’t do a very good job of showing just how much better it would perform for that huge price point. Besides the price, the biggest issue with the PS5 Pro is that it's still limited by the almost 5 YEAR OLD tech of the base model (eg. CPU, Amount of Memory, etc.).
