Yep, universal joints wear out if they run out of grease. Those safety hoops are awesome. A few years ago, my truck lost a U-joint at the front 4x4 yoke, and lacking such failsafe hoops, the twirling drive shaft struck Bank 1 oxygen sensor 1, resulting in more repairs being needed. Ironically, that sensor must be removed to make room to install the new U-joint.😂
I actually went on that ride a few days afterwards when it held on the news I was planning on going to the fair and me and my nephew actually got on that ride and experience nothing behind it that is one of my favorite rides and I wasn't really scared to get on the ride because I knew by them fixing it and being inspected by the state of Florida that it was okay to ride it
It's really good to see things go wrong and fail safely
Oh I know!! Thank goodness for engineers they can do some amazing things!! 👏 🙂
Hey look, it's a safety system and redundant design doing exactly what they're supposed to! Good work engineers!
But it makes for a boring video when things go well
@@wisteriiiiaaso?
And that is the exact reason there is one on the other side. Redundancy is a wonderful thing

Look like a u joint failure. Probably due to a lack of grease. Similar to what's under a pickup truck
Even without the failure something about rides like that make my anxiety spike into the stratosphere just watching it operate normally. 😬😓
Thats kinda the point
@@anthemdurr5644 I count anxiety and adrenaline as two different things when it comes to how I personally feel. They're very different for me.

@CoasterCollege look into what happened on Banshee at Kings Island yesterday....ride is going to be closed for a while...
Nothing happened to banshee just some dumbass entering a restricted area
I was no joke on that ride 2 days before!
I almost went to the fair myself! Was it a good one? Aside from this?
did you hear about the guy that got hit by banshee a kings island yesterday?
The U joint under my truck broke while I was driving one time. Seems fairly common.
Actually broke safely.
I have been in this EXACT unit. When I rode it the shifts in rotation were very noticeable, is this normal?
The unspeak is killing my ears?
😬
I went on this ride after it happened, maybe a week
I will not go on these rides I will only go on permanent rides
This could easily happen to a permanent installation of a similar ride though. Lack of adequate maintenance
You mean like the one that was permanently installed and got stuck upside down recently?
Looks like all those riders escaped final destination lol
I highly doubt a leathal situation would have came of this.
Another pendulum ride malfunctions.
These rides need to retire.
No?? There very safe and fun attractions
