Probably the most underrated game I've ever played. I love how there's absolutely zero hand holding, and they aren't afraid of having wide open spaces - it feels so much more real.
@@sporedtodeath I've also been playing for months and have barely scratched the surface (something I love about finding games like this well after release).
@@allrequiredfields There are a lot of Easter eggs hidden throughout the game. If you see something on the map, go check it out. Chances are that everything on your map has something interesting to find.
Yeah I just got it a week ago looking for something new to play. I friggin love it. It's hard as hell going against those big boys and the flying drones. I get killed alot lol.
I've got well over 1300 hours of single player time in the game, and I love it now like I did the very first play through. Every time the developers make a big update I start over again for the total experience. Quick hints: * go through your first time on the story mode. The story is the best part of the game to me, and I enjoy finding the secret lore throughout. There are some very strange Nordic-mystical-type lore situations that are pretty neat. * somehow the dogs see me every time I peek over the logs to spy them at the church, no matter if it's dark or raining. Don't know why. Anytime you're targeting dogs, try to aim at one that's near to others. Most of the time you will take out multiple targets with one shot. * the rooftop of the little store close to where you check the police car for ammo. *once kitted out, the Moller is a much better pistol than some of the bigger pistols with high damage-per-shot and great handling. *the Marksman skill for zero sway on weapon aim. * you can get that .270 very early in the game at the dock area on the far west end of the archipelago before you cross the first bridge. You'll have to walk around the coastline from the docks toward the bridge and it'll appear in a bonfire. * when using trees as shields, turn sideways to reduce your profile while machines are firing. You can get hit behind a tree when you're facing the machines because of love handles and muffin tops I guess. * one day I'll post my coordinates map of every 4- and 5-crown weapon in the game, but by the time I do everything will probably be different. * say it with me: ark - i - PEL - uh - go 😁 * if you hover over found safe houses you can see a list of what functions you can access there. * you can find a lot of great weapons upgrades in those barracks areas of the bunkers. * that letter was cryptic because the dad had a history of playing treasure hunts with his son. The Story! * you'll always spawn/boot into the game in the safehouse nearest to where you died or quit the game. That's why it's important to find every safehouse you can as you go so you don't respawn miles away from where you died and then have to truck it for a while to get back to your target. * PVG-90. I leave that in my Plundra now because it gets a little boring with this gun after a while, especially if you get the Experimental. Easily the best pinpoint weapon in the game. Have fun and enjoy the world! I grew up in a place like this, so it's my time machine back to my youth.
@k.b.tidwell6910 those are all really good tips. This video was made on the PC, but we've done most of the story on PS4 and we were working on Alpine Unrest content just this morning!
1 thing that ALOT of players dont know. At the start, there is a little house with a flat roof close to the first police car. You can parkour up to the roof by jumping off the bush next to it to the rain shield (a mini roof protecting from rain) the you can see a dead police and some gear and a ”klaucke 17”. This is a very good start but sadly its just a 1-star. Check it out for you self!
Another really important piece of advice, is use the random tools the game gives you. A few gas cannisters + a radio is a roadside bomb, the radio will attract the enemies over to the radio's location, then shoot the gas cannisters and BOOM, multiple enemies removed. You can get surprisingly close to enemies if you crawl through long grass. Even easier if you have a buddi with a scoped rifle to shoot the gas cans. Flares are decoy targets, if you're being shot at, throw flares to distract the machines. stick a sticky flare TO a big machine, the small guys will attack it. Fireworks blind an enemy, so they can't shoot. Shoot guns off of enemies as a priority. Think like an insurgent. (Also, didn't know you could have English dubbing! my game has always been in Swedish)
@gigaflynn_ I tried setting up gas canisters and radios in the beginning, but after I got a really good load out, it wound up being more work than actually just straight up attacking. They're good tricks for when you're alone or when the enemy is too strong. Once you start getting experimental weapons, you can just go straight at the enemy and not worry (provided you dropped a field radio or two!) The fireworks, however, are essential. You NEED them to fight the Reaper. If you don't use fireworks at the end of the fight, it will self-destruct and take all the good loot with it! Enjoy the game in English!
@gigaflynn_ OK, I had a comment but, I think UA-cam's algorithm flagged it for whatever reason. Anyway, that's all good advice for starting the game when the robots are so much stronger than you. Later on, you won't need them, but they can really turn the tide in the beginning. Enjoy the game in English!
Only hard parts are the long detection ranges and the fact, that detection can happen through solid objects/terrain. Find a medium size rock, have some bandages ready, throw a radio/flare and unload on the weakspots. If it's a Tank or Harvester, find a second rock, so you can dodge missiles and not end up in the open. Buildings are always safe (except for ticks spawned inside), unless a Hunter partially clips into the wall. "Variants" get more HP and improved attacks, but the basic strategy never changes.
I really just let temptation get the better of me. I couldn't have picked a worse spot to engage the enemy either, it had the high ground and there was no close cover at the top of the mountain.
@@sporedtodeath My comment wasn't meant to be in response to your gameplay. It's just a very simplified summary of the entire combat system. You'll dodge missiles/mortars, destroy spawning ticks, get behind cover from MG fire and that's basically it. Damage and HP numbers will get bigger, making fights longer, but that's all the game has to offer. I really enjoy slow paced solo and coop FPS games and never had any problems in GZ, unless I ran into some spotting/combat bug or the game randomly crashed. It just doesn't seem like a hard game to me, if you use the few tools you get properly.
just got this through PS Plus and it's really good. Having a lot of fun and I'm very impressed with the scale and amount of things to do. I'm not even sure if it's that massive but the game design makes it seem absolutely massive.
@tiananman The game is really big, and the enemies get more difficult as you travel north. Try to get to level 25 as fast as you can, and then go rival hunting for level 4 rivals. There's a chance you can get prototype weapons from them that do extra stuff.
@@sporedtodeath I've already killed a couple lvl 1 rivals. Getting the missile launcher was a help. I did the first one with the assault rifle and the hunting rifle along with some EMPs. I did run into a harvester and another giant bot next to a church... not sure what it's called but I couldn't take them out.
@@tiananman the two big Swedish machines are harvesters which have 4 legs, and tanks that have 2. Further North, you'll find Russian machines fighting the Swedish ones. They have small tanks called Lynxes, larger tanks called Wolves that deploy the Lynxes, and Firebirds that fly. The Firebirds are very dangerous and hard to hit.
Thanks for the tip about the signs in bunkers. I’ve been playing 3 or so years and never even noticed them. There’s also a skill called inquisitive mind. I always recommend getting that to level 2 upon being able to do so. Level 3&4, because there’s a pre requisite skill. With the reason being, the 1st rank awards 50% more every time you’re awarded xp and the 2nd rank, double the xp. So many sleep on it, but as an example, if ending an encounter normally awards you 900 xp, with rank 2 of inquisitive mind, it will award you 1800. Id also get lock picking asap, as there are mini armorys around the map, which require it and have decent loot. Plus, every you hear static, follow it to radar beacons, which award you a decent amount of xp if you use a tank, put it down next to the beacon and blow it up from a distance.
@avarice2483 I didn't take the inquisitive mind perk because the game caps skills at level 30. You can hit level 30 pretty easily, so after that unless you need something from that skill tree, it's a point you could spend on something else. It might be a good perk after they rework the skill system and maybe raise the level cap. The game developers are supposed to do that in 2024, but there's no set date for a skill revamp as they are working on bug fixes.
@@sporedtodeath should ALWAYS take at least inquisitive mind one on your way to hacker... most overpowered skill in the game, remote hacking allows you to disable machines BEFORE the fight, and then with the top skill, they fight for you... works on bosses too... binoculars, change the view and you can hack and make the machines yours (temporarily) this means they don't shoot at you... always easier to face-kill a tank with a MollerPP with unstopable in 30 shots of hollowpoints when it isn't shooting back... I like to spam hack the big guys and let them handle little guys for me, saves .50 BMG ammo
@@kevinsears7300 The reason I've never taken the hacking skill is that I usually play as the team sniper, and one of the other guys does the hacking. I hate the weapon sway in Generation Zero, so I always take the Marksman perk so I can land shots from really far away with a PVG90.
I just started to play yesterday on ps. Loved it so far. Saw some UA-camrs playing it back then. Kind of hard aiming since it moves a lot. But got to get use to it. I’m still on the islands looting. Found my first auto rifle up by the castle.
@karlvang1 I'm glad you like the game! We have a lot of fun playing it, and I hope the developer puts out some new content... well, after a few bug fixes first!
Just want to say man it's so good to see someone picking this up from the beginning and going through the newbie stuff, I'm a returning player, love the new companion stuff, and definitely going for that gun. Great style of content 👏
Thanks. I saw that it was on sale and new there would be a bunch of new players, so I wanted to make something to help them get started. This game has a big learning curve, and I didn't want people to give up on it before giving it a chance.

Been trying to get back into this game forever and lost all my knowledge, this has allowed me to enjoy this game solo after only playing with a group of 4. Thank you me dude, this is good shit!
@zachprynn2545 Thank you! I'm just glad you enjoy the game. We're on our third play though and just wrapped up filming new material. We had a couple of really wild fights at the end of the day.
ok 2 things, the quality of this guide was very good, it felt like a vet of not only the game but of youtube made it. second, you deserve much more attention, the guide was pretty detailed you werent speeding through and it was very easy to understand. good job man keep it up
Also harvest any trees that let you do so. You will need the wood to upgrade your supply containers. Radios seem useless but the fireworks box and flares are great for distracting robots. Hip firing is better than aiming down the sights for most guns other than the rifles and grenade/ rocket launchers.
Your right about new players. I myself picked it up on the steam summer sale. Been hooked since I started playing it. Though it has some issues I really love it. Got to level 25 yesterday and got my first prototype weapon from killing a rival. Been dying a LOT through my playthrogh.
Staying alive is hard on your own. That's why field radios and adrenaline shots are so important. I think it's part of the reason they included the companion, so that the machines don't target the player and have something else to worry about. Many of the larger machines are easier to take down if you have multiple people, because you can surround it and someone can always target the components on the back.
@@sporedtodeath Yes to say one is underpowered is an understatement. I had an encounter with literally hundreds of machines at Stora Dyrbo, there's a nearby fenix base. I managed to shot of the first wave retreating to my safe house there. But they just spawn in new waves.
@@nakhorn2008 There are devices inside that make more robots, and if you can get to them you can stop them from spawning. However, you may need to tackle those bases with friends.
Bro, thank you so much for this video! I just started playing this game and didn't know how to equip my rifle and scope. This was great information! Love the video!
@kalenhouse You're welcome! I knew that we had problems the first time we played, and that some players might get discouraged and stop playing, so I wanted to put something out there to help people just starting out.
For those of us who have been playing games for 20 years, we need a challenge more than we need a breeze through it makes for a better experience for us
@gabrieljantz8935 😁 Well, to be honest, we've only been playing on the normal difficulty... for now. If you try it on the harder difficulty, let me know if it was what you were looking for.
Me and my family picked it up (the DLC monetization makes it too expensive for us to pick up without a deep sale). Greatly enjoying it. We like the challenge.
Definitely keep an eye out for the sales. I don't know which expansion adds the prototype weapons, but if you have to choose in the future, get that one first.
Im slowly making my way across the maps unlocking safe houses & finding goodies. Im still working my way to this lighthouse & a few other key places. I have tons of ammo but none of the weapons lol
Yeah, getting started is a real challenge. Even with this gun, there's some things that I still have trouble taking on. I also changed my mind about the Automatgevar 4, if you shoot with short controlled bursts it does handle a lot better.
Went for the 4star & it was replaced by a rifle. Found the 3 star in the train yard tho in a locked room. Ive found a few go to weapons myself. My schedule makes it hard to co-op with friends so I keep IR & low light, & long range scopes. Im currently using missle launcher on my companion so he survives lil longer from a distance. Airport was s first real challenge which went better than expected using the open hanger for cover
@@eightycutty That's weird. Set pieces should be static. Hopefully you'll get one soon. I prefer to start fights at a distance, but the enemy closes in so I change tactics mid-fight.
Well found 3 star P90 in the train yard & the 4 star was in the side mission cave. Oh yea def LD lol. Mr Thunder Buddy is equipped with rocket launcher so he keeps most the big guys attention while I gun them down from a distance
Dude this is like a horror game too me, while going to the farm I spotted something way bigger than normal dogs and decided to walk way around but somehow that thing saw me and I just ran to the barn.
@adriand9740 It's always like that in the beginning. Once you get a decent PVG90, you can start to fight those things and win. I find it helps to keep the mindset that you are effectively immortal. If you die, you can just respawn at a safe house. If you want an extreme example of that, check out the Death Count video I made a couple weeks back!
one of the better gen zero video i've come across. keep up the good content. i stumble across gen zero on accident with the PS5. it's addicting. i try to play the stealth game more than combat. i hack the machines so they fight each other. when you have the firebird, it kills every enemy for you easy, even tanks and harvesters don't stand a chance. when the firebird is done killing them all, you just shoot it until it's dead since it's still hacked and won't shoot back at you. not too into building bases tho. waste of time. after i got 3-4 bases, i stopped claiming bases tho i still do base assaults.
@popoju9 The base missions, assault or defense, give you points for experimental ammo. We've been farming those for a while now as the ammo can help speed up fighting the Reaper.
@@sporedtodeath i've been lone wolfing it on PS5 and only on level 25. haven't met a Reaper yet. everything up to Tank and Firebird are pretty easy to kill cuz i can hack and they kill each other for me. why does the Scout attack everybody without me hacking it? also there is a base that is all blown up and i can't find an entrance. do you know the one i am talking about?
@@sporedtodeath exp ammo doesn't seem that interesting or beneficial. there is always a downside that i don't want to sacrifice for. what is the highest level you got to. i just passed level 26. i've moved up north and the loot is so much better.
@@popoju9 on PS4 I think I got to level 40. After 30, nothing really changes, but I feel like they give you more experimental weapons. The loot is definitely better the further north you go.
I've played GZ before but never made it past my second bunker. I'm playing again and I'm almost to the airfield. My tip is barns! Barns give you tons of cover, usually good angles to shoot from, and rockets/gas canisters hitting the walls won't damage you if you are near the center. I'm saying this because I took out 2 tanks, 7+ hunters, and 20+ runners in an epic battle from inside a barn. 3 seekers kept calling in more enemies until I took them out as well.
@tsutl84 Barns are definitely good cover, but watch out if the machines have gas canisters. There's also a trick when you fight the Reaper. When he does his gas insta-kill attack, get behind a tree and turn sideways (you gotta be sideways). The attack will miss you if you're line up just right. Oh, and I'll tell you something else important. When the Reaper lets out red smoke, throw fireworks at him, or he'll self destruct and take all the good loot with him! We found that out the hard way, twice!
Keep it up . been playing the game for about 2 weeks now excellent game 👍💯 to be honest I have never heard of this game . Am a fan.of boardland s. Division.destiny player myself so this game is right up my street 💯👍
@kyleherber3231 I didn't know it at the time, but someone did point it out to me. I included it on my crafting video that came out later, but I'm always looking for new tips, so thanks!
Just bought this game a week ago because I'm bored of everything else at the moment. Now that I have the .50cal 5 on me with the big bots I can survive most of the time vs getting smoked almost every time I tried to fight them. I just rode the motorcycle straight though everything to get to that lighthouse. Almost didn't make it lol. Thanks for making this video man.
This game is actually awesome. I initially didn’t look twice at it because I’m not a fan of 80’s only weapons but now I can’t put it down till I beat it.
@brimmjob8122 The combat is really fun and addictive! This game didn't get the attention it deserved when it came out, but it's catching on big time right now!
bro when you were trying to say archipelago that shit made me laugh so hard thats meme worthy but still good video and great tips keep up the good work and btw you got a new sub👍

Weapons research has been beyond rewarding. Even though I have every weapon, I still run and hide in every house and container! My basic kit is an assault rifle with a scope & silencer, an smg and the .50 for the big ones because rockets are really heavy. Never went back to bolt rifles after I got salty because you can always use semi-auto
@luislongoria6621 I think you've got a really good set up. The rockets are for groups, but they're damage is really underwhelming. The bolt action rifles are really just to get you started, they did kind of skip out on having a late stage stealth sniper rifle. Have you found any experimental weapons yet?
Archipelago 1. Say Ark without the k. 2. Say Kit or Kick without the t or ck. 3. Say Pelt without the t. 4. Say ah. 5. Say go. Ar - Ki - Pel - Ah - Go Archipelago
@@TommyRayzer Thanks! I know that when I first started using it, I had to completely change up my play style. I started out with stealth on my first play through, but then this gun made it impossible to hide. It changed my whole mind set about the game.
I just started playing this past week and was suprised at how much i enjoyed it considering i knew nothing about it when i downloaded. I finished the archipelago region and headed into the farmlands and omfg was that a massive leap especially the further north i went. Decided to do a quick google at the order of things and chose to wipe through the other regions first starting with the south west area and once i did that and am partially through the mountains i started picking up 4 and even some 5 star weapons/mods. Unsure if it was because of how far i progressed with total playing time or the areas i explored...ANYWAY, this video helped immensely and helped solidify things i already sort of thought about but was unsure of
@Nistin2776 Thank you! I'm always happy when a new player picks up Generation Zero and enjoys it! The weapon mods unlock under specific conditions, usually its destroying certain numbers of certain machines.
@disgruntledtorch6474 This game gets constant updates, and a few of the recent ones have been good. I'm looking forward to the skill respecs coming in 2024.
Tip at the beginning of the game at the house theirs like a little stand that serves food on top of that theirs another different gun and a gun silencer and some aid kits and adrenaline shots
@user-zz3qx8hj9k Someone else pointed that out as well. We do go back and get some footage of it on a later video, but there's a lot of not jumping up to the top of the food stand that went on the cutting room floor. I should have kept it and made a blooper reel.
@osalinas449 Thank you! We've made a ton of Generation Zero videos, so there's plenty of content. We also just started playing Helldivers 2, which is super fun!
Hey just letting you know that pvg90 you got at the end already had a 4 star 6/12 scope on it. You switched it too the 2 star that you had in your inventory
something I found in first day is vantage points in the bases, I also didn't know the character respawned until I saw someone die, so I was using a lot of revives. buildings are great for cover, because the AI seems to have difficulty entering, some of the windows in the church are bullet proof, (color glass) yes it doesn't make sense, its also a disadvantage. the loot respawns which I wasn't aware of. The bicycle helps you not be spotted, even going up close on the tanks. Yes collect everything.
@RockG.o.d the buildings are good cover unless the machines bring gas. If they fire poison gas, it'll get inside a building, and if you're inside they LOVE to use gas to make you get out. If you can figure out if they have gas or not, it can help you figure out whether you can use the inside, but I prefer staying on the outside and kiting the enemies around the corners of the buildings.
I haven’t found the game to be too difficult on the ‘normal’ setting. I mean it’s not very hard to die and the machines are pretty brutal sometimes but playing smart and careful makes everything seem very manageable. Haven’t had a single bad thing to say about this game so far which is super rare these days. If I was really being picky I got stuck in the terrain and had to kill myself once and the characters faces look slightly cursed but that’s it. Loving this game
@nick_308 the game is difficult if you let stuff gang up on you, but I find that you always feel like you can keep going and you can push through the tough fights. I'm glad you're enjoying the game!
Game is pretty sick, especially mid game when Hunters and harvesters are pretty much a game over.. Sneaking up to a building at night and seeing one of those things turn towards you is epic! Holy crap! Then they blast their foghorn and start actively looking for you! It’s pretty intense. Even with the op rocket dog, if you come across one of those guys and it’s entourage, you’re pretty much screwed. I’ve played a lot of games, this comes pretty close to a nightmare for me, way more than any other game I’ve ever played. Co-op is good too, play it with my 13 year old son.
@-oysterthief4444 I've got another video on the playlist titled "You and what army?" that you should check out that describes just that scenario. I had to get a part off a tank surrounded by enemies, so I dropped a field radio and fought them, luring them away from the tank until they finally got me! We actually look for those fights, and on our latest play through we've bumped up the difficulty to the highest level and turned on scaling for number of players. Even a prototype dog can take out a player with one salvo!
@DukeJon1969 the game got a bad rating, but it isn't a bad game. Metacritic gave it a 51, but honestly I think it deserves an 80 to 90 score. It's not perfect, but for what it is, it's really fun!
Hey! So I went for that sniper you were talking about but the big robots were fighting outside. I decided to help whittle then down and I got a gold sniper :D
10 months late but it should be noted that the Marksman skill is just a % based reduction of weapon sway to max it out. The weapon sway reduction can max out at 45% less weapon sway, meaning that the marksman specialization adds the remaining 55% to completely eliminate it. If you don't take the weapon sway skill and max it out, even with the specialization, your character will always have some weapon sway.
@smh6926 I actually never maxed out the weapon sway skill. I never noticed any weapon sway as soon as I took it, even for shots that were super far away. It was always the thing I would go for first, because weapon sway in Generation Zero is ridiculous.
@@sporedtodeath yeah I experimented with the skill tree as of late, the specialization effectively just gives you enough percentage of weapon sway reduction to eliminate it completely if you have the weapon sway maxed
@@smh6926 I've never put more than one point in weapon sway reduction, and I've had zero weapon sway the whole time. I used the two spare points for other skills, but the specializations are really O.P. You can check it out on their wiki at generation-zero.fandom.com/wiki/Skill_Tree#Left .
@@sporedtodeath Must be a bug on my end then, if I don't take the full weapon sway it doesn't eliminate the weapon sway at all... I'll give it a look in a different character to see if it changes, though I'm gonna have to level that character up a bit first
@@smh6926 It could be a bug, knowing Generation Zero. This is the game that gave us floating platforms in the sky and artifacting houses that have partially see through walls.
@jeekong93 That's actually a really good time to get to that gun! I usually sneak my way up the coastline and snag safe houses on the way just in case, but while safer, that takes a couple of hours!
I played this game back in 2020 and haven't touched it since. Taking on anything but the dogs in the open was a death sentence so I spent a lot of time in houses while shooting out of windows and even then the machines often walked thru the walls lol...There seems to have been a few updates since then so maybe I should try it again. Hopefully it has improved with age. So do we need any of the paid dlc packs/updates in order to do well ? I only have the Alpine Unrest dlc...
@Hellfire666 The only things you need are the expansions, Fnix Rising and Alpine Unrest. The rest are either cosmetics or items you can live without. Honestly, I bought one of the survivor dlc's that give you access to traps and Molotov cocktails and never really used them. The game has come a long way from 2020 and the developers have been adding things the whole time. There's supposed to be a skill revamp sometime in 2024, so that should be interesting.
Do enemies respawn when you die? I killed around four hunters but died from the last two, and when I came back the bodies were completely gone which was annoying and like there was 6 more hunters
@weirdhungidas8998 Enemies probably follow the same respawn script that items do, every 4 hours. However, I have noticed that if you kill an enemy or even sometime you start a fight and then die, the enemies will sometimes not be there when you return. I had it happen with a tank, I started fighting it, I died near a safe house, and when I ran back the tank was gone.
What controller settings are you using ? Like look sens and aim and fov. Also appreciate the vid. My buddy and I just started playing last night. He told me it was free for PS Plus and we hopped on it and dude such a different game but we can already tell it’s gonna be a dope experience.
@josephmaya7948 I have look sensitivity set to 3 and aim sensitivity set to 4. I also recommend you change the button from push and hold to activate to just a button press. It can make all the difference when you have to revive a team mate.
I really liked this guide but I am wondering if you excluded the use of the radio and exploding barrels to kill the first runner of the game because it might spoil that revelation later. I am headed to your channel to check out more videos for this game. I really did like this guide. Especially in how to find sniper rifles early. ✌️😎👍
@scottallen6160 I've never tried using the radio on the first runner, but I guess that is a valid tactic. I have trouble aiming down sights, so other people who also have trouble might be able to use that as an alternate solution. Good tip!
@sporedtodeath, thanks for the tip on the purple sniper at the light house. i made my way there today and got it. any other tip for purple weapons like submachine guns which i love over the AK. i like using the .44 revolver over the semi-auto handguns. it's annoying that i get over weighted all the time. what are the weapons in your wheel that you only carry. my 12 year old son says i carry too many guns. i need to selectively pick up thing and not hit "take all" all the time.
@popoju9 I'm usually carrying an AI-76, Pvg90, and a rocket launcher unless I can get a hold of experimental weapons. Once I can get an experimental Kvm59, that basically melts enemies and can effectively be used as a sniper gatling gun. As for the weight issue, unfortunately the game does throw a lot of useless items at you, so being selective is actually very necessary. I never use smoke grenades or smoke rounds for the rocket launcher, but they can weight you down with useless stuff.
@adambuxar6029 when you're running, don't keep your sniper rifle on. Basically if you get caught flat footed you have to change weapons before you can attack.
I wished i watched this video before i started the game, i had to go all the way back to pick up the rifle, luckily im only a few missions into the game so it wasnt to bad, brilliant game so far
Just wondering if you can do a video on explaining the crafting and skills and all that sort of stuff man like you mentioned something about recycling the rounds to make points and stuff just wondering if you can make a video covering all that
I just started playing the game a few days ago so I'm a noob and realized a lot of people were not happy about starting at night. So when I walked around the pier to search stuff, I found some medpacks and then it became daylight. 👍
@@xXdallonXx I've noticed that the day/night cycle favors night time. That's probably because the game is set in winter, so the nights are longer. The good news is that the machines don't seem to see your flashlight, at least the smaller ones don't.
Thanks for the tips. Lvl 14. Got the game for free on PS plus. Currently trying to survive the farmlands to go up north. Just discovered the Soviet robots fighting Fnix. Any tips on them?
@cgcq329 The lynx tanks don't take much to take down, but they pack a punch. The larger wolf tanks can heal, so aim for the little saucer shaped things on their top front that emit the strange green patterns. The Firebirds are OP. Get to a safe house and just respawn, they hit hard and have a ton of HP, but if you respawn at a safe house you can save all your med packs. Just lead them to a safe house and trap them. They have a ton of loot as well.
I just started couple days ago and there was a side mission for the hunting rifle before going to the church.. it's nice they actually gave a mission for that so it is hard to miss it.. ah you cleared the mission part couple minutes later 😂
@codyhowe4227 I'm not sure what you could change to make it more of a survival game. You can ramp up the difficulty, but there's no options to eat or need to sleep. It's really all about combat and loot. Well, for now anyway. The game developers are still updating the game and maybe they'll add a new survival mode. They do ask on their website from time to time what players might want to see added to the game, so if you ask them and get some more people to ask as well, they just might do it.
I don't know why I get caught on words, but sometimes its funnier when I can't pronounce it. Better to leave in the flub than to cut it and make it look clean and professional.
@samuraijack3644 Only if you use a different character. If you start a new game with the same character, the game will have considered that character to have cleared those missions. You might be able to if you join someone else's game and they haven't done that mission, but I could be wrong about that. It's one of the serious flaws of Generation Zero... it needs more missions, or more end game content to pad it out. However, fighting random groups of machines is still fun. I recommend the crater in the center of the map. You get a lot of Apocalypse class tanks and harvesters, as well as Wolf tanks, Lynxes and Firebirds.
@nicsearcs6167 How does it look on PS5? And do you ever have glitches and crashes? I think all my videos this week have some sort of glitch or issue because we're playing on PS4, and I think the RAM gets overloaded.
@@rayfolkers4920 I'm glad it runs better on a PS5. We've noticed with PS4 you need to restart every couple of hours or the game will start acting weird.
@@sporedtodeath aha ok i never had to restart the game or my ps. And sometimes i let it run even tho i am doing other things in the house. No problems at all. But i have noticed that when i play with 2 or 3 friends sometimes the robots act weird after they have been killed. Like rolling over the ground or it keeps moving while its dead or de body despawns and disappears
I just wamt to thank you for making this vid it helped me and i think i got lucky bc i found a silencer in the beginning so i putted it on the first sniper now im doing alk the other missions
I play co-op do you know if my other 2 friends will be able to get the pvg 90 or other guns at the same time as me, and if not do those guns respawn every 3 hours also? Thanks
@samsquanch762 You should all be able to get the guns at the same time. Everyone gets an instance of all the guns scattered around the game. It's only the loot drops that are randomized per person.
@ryderlahas7974 You can only walk in the water where there are reeds. Open water will send you back to shore, but there's enough land under the reeds that you don't sink. It's really touch to reach. There's also a road, but if you go over the road, you'll have to be careful of machines.
@jmeredithD2 When I did it, you just crafted the default ammo and you got points for it to spend on unlocking other ammo. It looks like there were ammo schematics at one point, but I think they removed them, because the post I'm looking at is from November of 2020.
@xxxlonewolf49 can you fast travel to a safe house when you get stuck? I haven't had it happen while crouching or crawling, but I have gotten stuck in the environment a couple of times and used fast travel to fix it. It beats having to restart the whole game.
@@xxxlonewolf49 I haven't had it be a major issue in my game, but this game is glitchy. Every time they patch something, it seems to break something else. We're recording again next weekend, so I'll pay attention and see if I wind up with the same problem. If I do, I'll be sure to put it up on the channel.
@sporedtodeath trying couching were you now know you need to crawl & jump over and into crevices. I'm still exploring the first island so VERY new to the game...but if anything I'd expect the starter island to be the most polished.
Funny thing I have all skills and specializations but the guide is fairly good for learning basics but you forgot about 5 star Glock thing in the police car which is easy to get too and the Ag 5 one star in bear cave
@AltairizVT I actually don't know about the location of the 5 star Glock (you mean the 9mm Klauckle?) location. I learn more about the game each day from comments and discoveries when we're playing. There's so much hidden in Generation Zero that you never stop finding something new.
1081.439, -3865.288 is the cords and I think it has a find dog and a few others around it but ik there's more than this like for instance a 5 star .44 and rocket launcher once you get any of the following you can basically open fight and get the 5 star AI-76 which is one of the best in game weapon
@@Altairiz I'm going to check that out the next time I'm recording on PC. Thanks for the tip! I still haven't found a five star rocket launcher in either my PS4 game or my PC save file.
I’ve heard a lot of different things on this game. Is it worth playing? I do like these kinda scavenger games but have been stung in the past with other games.
After shooting 38 bullets into a dog.. And ending the kill with my bat. I come to find out they can be exploded by shooting them on the back.. And is it the front too?
@statz80 every enemy in the game has weak spots. The dog's can be killed by shooting the tank on the back, but higher level dogs may put a plate of armor to protect it from the front. Watch for weak spots on all the enemies. Take out those and you'll do massive damage. You can shoot the guns off the tanks and harvesters later on, but they take a lot more hits.
What I would do is have a friend if you can but use the motor bike and to drive into the military base and just avoid all of the things you will see cuz all of them are gonna be military grade so be careful
I’m currently playing this game and I am in Sweden and as I play I hear the warning sirens for an attack in real life sounding. Before I realised that it’s a drill I got pretty scared. I mean I hope it’s a drill😂
Hey Bro i know THIS Video IS from 1 year ago and yeah im a pro already and i recently Started a new Game since i was done but im still confused how did radioactive Robots Spawn in the beginning of the Game ?? I started the new Game Yesterday and i got a golden gun
@cianismaili You got Apocalypse class enemies on the archipelago? The enemies spawn in set areas, so if you travel north right away you could run into them, but there shouldn't be anything but prototype enemies on the beginning region. Also, if you went north early and fought Apocalypse (radioactive) robots, it's entirely possible to get a golden weapon early. The bot's class and type determine the possible drops from the loot table.
@farmner_jesus675 I wish I had that problem! We don't do much scavenging on the channel because we want to keep the action going, but I'll search for some off camera sometimes.
@hondacivic199091 I believe you get them back, but it costs to reset them. They would have to give them back as you can't re-level yourself up. I've never reset my skills, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
@@hondacivic199091 it's whatever works for you. I'm working on a sniper build that can follow up with medium range, but on my off screen character I have mostly salvaging and ammo gathering skills to get supplies for my other character. That way I don't have to hunt around on screen.
@@helixfalks I have a friend who learned Mandarin and its way more brutal than English. I don't know how much more difficult Cantonese is than Mandarin, but both seem daunting to me.
Why not go for the obvious choice before picking a specialization when it comes to skills? And that's getting the Inquistive Mind skill maxed out. That way for the rest of the game you are getting double the XP that you wouldn't otherwise get if you went with something else first. lol.
@SuperSirianRigel, the max level for this game is 30, and the game will go on long enough that even without that skill, you'll have enough skill points to easily level up. The points can be better spent on things like recoil reduction, increased reload speed, etc. Generation Zero is more gear based and less skill based. The skills matter, but they take second place to the gear.
@@sporedtodeath Whaaat? I didn't know it maxes out at 30. That's stupid. I will just have to reset my skills at some point and fix it I guess. lol. Actually that feels like a good idea. I already got the XP bonus maxed out. So I guess I'll get to 30 faster and then reset and fix my skills. lol.
@@SuperSirianRigel Sounds like a solid plan. Technically you do still get exp and level, but the points stop rolling in at 30. There was some rumor around expanding the max level at some point, but it never materialized.
@hairytroll9795 For items set in the environment like the PVG 90, you both get them. If your friend picks up a gun first it will still be on your screen. When you loot an enemy both players get loot, but you each get different loot.
Probably the most underrated game I've ever played. I love how there's absolutely zero hand holding, and they aren't afraid of having wide open spaces - it feels so much more real.
@allrequiredfields I couldn't agree more. This game does not get the love it deserves.
One of the few games I enjoy playing alone
Yeah I just got it a week ago looking for something new to play. I friggin love it. It's hard as hell going against those big boys and the flying drones. I get killed alot lol.
I've got well over 1300 hours of single player time in the game, and I love it now like I did the very first play through. Every time the developers make a big update I start over again for the total experience.
Quick hints:
* go through your first time on the story mode.
* say it with me: ark - i - PEL - uh - go 😁
* if you hover over found safe houses you can see a list of what functions you can access there.

Once you start getting experimental weapons, you can just go straight at the enemy and not worry (provided you dropped a field radio or two!)
The fireworks, however, are essential.

@driverben You're welcome! I'm always happy to help a new player get in to this game. The giant fights are amazing!
Rushing xp multipliers is always a pro move, good tip.

Also harvest any trees that let you do so. You will need the wood to upgrade your supply containers. Radios seem useless but the fireworks box and flares are great for distracting robots.

Went for the 4star & it was replaced by a rifle. Found the 3 star in the train yard tho in a locked room. Ive found a few go to weapons myself. one of the better gen zero video i've come across. keep up the good content. i stumble across gen zero on accident with the PS5. it's addicting. i try to play the stealth game more than combat. i hack the machines so they fight each other. when you have the firebird, it kills every enemy for you easy, even tanks and harvesters don't stand a chance. when the firebird is done killing them all, you just shoot it until it's dead since it's still hacked and won't shoot back at you. not too into building bases tho. waste of time. after i got 3-4 bases, i stopped claiming bases tho i still do base assaults.
@popoju9 The base missions, assault or defense, give you points for experimental ammo. We've been farming those for a while now as the ammo can help speed up fighting the Reaper.

@stayspacelygaming9560 definitely a great tip! I didn't know about that silencer, and they really change up how you can play!

@josephvalentine2767 No problem. Happy hunting!
Just bought this game a week ago because I'm bored of everything else at the moment. Now that I have the .50cal 5 on me with the big bots I can survive most of the time vs getting smoked almost every time I tried to fight them.
For everyone complaining about the aiming.. go to settings and adjust your sensitivity. The default setting on PS is insanely high.
@dhairston86 It's like that on PC as well.

@JoseMartinez-xo6fy thanks! I appreciate it! We've got more stuff coming out all week.
@sporedtodeath ahh, thanks for that! That makes sense considering how many big battles I've had stuck in a barn somewhere after failing at sneaking
Haven’t played this in a while, might get back into it since I’ve been seeing it getting more popularity
I just subscribed. This is a great video and such an underrated game. Keep up on the updates please.
Yeah, I caught that in editing, but there's no way to fix that mistake in post. Sometimes you just gotta roll with it.
something I found in first day is vantage points in the bases, I also didn't know the character respawned until I saw someone die, so I was using a lot of revives. buildings are great for cover, because the AI seems to have difficulty entering, some of the windows in the church are bullet proof, (color glass) yes it doesn't make sense, its also a disadvantage. the loot respawns which I wasn't aware of.
@@sporedtodeath get into a big building with a high roof.
@@RockG.o.d I'll give it a shot if I can figure out how to get up there. The only thing that won't work against are Firebirds.
Also I can’t believe you called that pistol crappy 😂 I have no reason to defend it I just really like the starter pistol for some reason

@savagekill7685 That's awesome! Great luck!

Invincible Sweedish Trees, yes!!!! The trees save my life so many times in this game.
@user-gl1zt2ms5b by far they are the best cover in the game!
Good tip!
How do you change the language? Mine has been in Swedish since I started. It’s hard to read subtitles while you’re trying to fight.
@Lennon28391 It's under settings, then choose audio, and at the bottom is the language selection.
Ark A Pell A Go - only since you seemed to be having trouble with it. Thanks for the video.
@jimfoshee5690 You're welcome, and welcome to the channel!
Amaizing video. Keep it up. Definitely something to share with friends

@xXdallonXx good tip!

@elitereptilian200 Yeah, I really like that hunting rifle with the suppressor, so I made a bee line right for it!
Would be great to see a settings vid for making this a hardcore immersive survival game.

Hey, are you able to replay the story missions again? i try making a new game, but every story mission is completed already 😢
The enemies spawn in set areas, so if you travel north right away you could run into them, but there shouldn't be anything but prototype enemies on the beginning region. Also, if you went north early and fought Apocalypse (radioactive) robots, it's entirely possible to get a golden weapon early. @@hondacivic199091 it's whatever works for you. I'm working on a sniper build that can follow up with medium range, but on my off screen character I have mostly salvaging and ammo gathering skills to get supplies for my other character. That way I don't have to hunt around on screen.
Archipelago is pronounced like Archaeology, so Ark-i-pel-ago.
Kinda wish I knew this stuff years ago, great vid, may just start a new game.
Thanks! I'm never gonna live this down, but I'm kinda glad for that!
@@sporedtodeath English is annoying lol
@@helixfalks and apparently one of the hardest languages to learn for non-English speakers. We do everything backwards, or something like that.
@@sporedtodeathclearly they have never tried to learn Cantonese XD
@@helixfalks I have a friend who learned Mandarin and its way more brutal than English. I don't know how much more difficult Cantonese is than Mandarin, but both seem daunting to me.
I thought that everyone knew about the invincible swedish trees 😂
@Saabmin33 I actually did not for a while when we started this game, but they really help in tough fights.
School and a friend are playing together do we both get the guns or just one of us?
@hairytroll9795 For items set in the environment like the PVG 90, you both get them. If your friend picks up a gun first it will still be on your screen. When you loot an enemy both players get loot, but you each get different loot.
