Gotta say this opened my eyes a bit. I definitely was on the side of disliking her because I felt like she didn't experience enough of the consequences of her actions but there were for sure a few things I didn't consider from her perspective.
Yes. Yes she should be Forgiven if Genshin gave her a Better and well executed story. Inazuma was rushed rushed and it made her story quest feel tacked on.
Raiden is the most complex character in Genshin, it's just sad it was given to an inexperienced studio with a really short deadline. That said, if Inazuma was given a bit more breathing room, her story would have been more understood. One thing I wanna point out before I add extra things about Ei's perspective; Ei is still accountable for the mistakes she's done, which I think, was mostly handled in her second story quest. Now in addition to her being ignorant with the suffering of Inazuma, in her defense, she has been working with the tri-commission for probably 500+ years with and without Makoto, and with the Fatui collaborating (and Ei having no reason to fear the Fatui), it would be natural she'd slip up eventually. Basically, in her mind, it would have went as "I have worked with them for so long, there is no reason to doubt their reports." With Scaramouche, while she saw him as an emotional person, she didn't really think she was his son, just a human being. I mean, with tons of prototypes she has been making, what would have made him any different from the others? She, for some reason, had full trust with Khaenriahn's tech that she didn't probably expect him to wake up. But the moment he does, iirc in her perspective, he was with other mortals (or the furnace crew), so if anything, she thought he was in good hands. It's just the Fatui knew better than Ei.
But that proves the point of Criticising raiden for her treatment of wonderer . She didnt really care about him to any degree , and only saw him as a humanoid puppet whonshe didnt bring herself to kill him because u dont go around kill8ng people who did nothing wrong, you know ? So she didnt care and only did the bare bare minimum . Also side note : I dont understand the point of ( she didnt want to be a mother !) ...... , okay? But she created him non the less and has no own up to it , but she didnt , and only did the bare minimum.
Can we agree that she didn't exactly create the Wanderer? She made Scaramouche, who tampered with Irminsul to create and be replaced by the Wanderer. In a way, Wanderer is like many of the more enigmatic characters in the game, having lost the memory of their former selves and journeying to reclaim it somehow.
But he does reclaim his memories back in the quest, he remembers everything that has happened and that he has done but no one remembers him, he is still technically Scaramouche since he has his memories and experiences, it´s just that no one will remember his as Scaramouche and he changed his name to symbol a new beginning, also he did vow to get revenge on Dottore for what he has done to him. Wanderer is more like a reincarnation of Scaramouche in a way
Yeah I dislike her because she's supposed to be a philosophical character, she meditates, and I forgot where I watch it, but there is an analysis that the way she thinks is actually very philosophical (lost in translation in EN), but then I find all her actions are soooo stupid, what is that 500 years meditation for??? What is it actually that she loved? She wanted to protect her people yet she knows nothing about them? Even in her voiceline she knows nothing of her people, she doesn't know Yoimiya actions, she acknowledge Ayaka and Ayato because of their bloodline, she blames Raiden for the treatment to Thoma? NO VOICELINE ABOUT KAZUHA, Itto who? Also the game does her badly. Come on Wanderer got soooo much story arc and screentime to make up all his mistakes little by little. But where's Ei? Oh, she's trying to learn her people by playing TCG with them and she doesn't understand why her people so scared of her? Oh she's coming to watch the Arataki show then foreshadow future war but then left without interacting with any of them? She's realizing her mistakes is already a start, but after that, the game take her development too slow and even makes her into a comedic character, I need to see her doing something to the people that she hurts, but where??? What good things she has done for her people??? Where the redemption?? Meanwhile Wanderer got soooo much serious character development, he already saved others several times, and now save mini Durin, and now they foreshadow him for future development, Ei when is your turn???

i´m glad the video helped, not liking her is understandable but there is so much more to her than meets the eye
