- Last week's tests the doctor is hoping to rule out hepatic encephalopathy but since symptoms are light they're making sure it's not anything else through other tests.
overall I feel better one day then not as well the next day but I am keeping a good attitude towards everything.
Shoestring, I'm 64 and my body definitely can't keep pace with my mind anymore! Be at peace wherever you are now! It's all good considering. My friend, it's your story telling that keeps me coming to your channel. You can do that from the rails, or from home. Rest up and keep yourself well. God bless you sir.

Nice boxcar as that's a USA Trains product and they're up in Malden, Massachusetts. That car is part of the American series made in the USA! That Alaska SD70 you showed in display case in the motel in Palmer, Alaska was also a USA Trains product. Glad you're doing okay!

This is a really cool video. I think a lot of your fans enjoy these stories. I never found a meteorite myself, but I once hitched a ride to Defuniak, FL, and the driver was a self-taught geologist and archeologist. During our conversation, he told me to open the glove compartment, and there was canvas sack in there. He told me to go ahead and check it out. I unwrapped it, and inside was a heavy, black, handmade hand tool... It looked as if it was sharp at one time, like a hatchet. That dude would go to places in Kentucky to search for Megalodon teeth. He said he knew a spot where he could find perfect specimens that fetch about $5k each. He said he dug up that meteorite hatchet and had kept it in his glove box ever since because he doesn't know what to do with it. Pretty cool stuff. I got to hold possibly the oldest meteorite axe/bludgeon ever found :)
And that is really cool that your advice is to stay present and enjoy the moment. I'm laying here on a mountain, under the stars, next to a creek, getting annoyed by the mosquitos nipping at me... while I'm watching you suffer from medical difficulties and cabin fever -_- it's like how you said it's easy to notice all the bad and to lose sight of the good. There's nowhere (indoors OR outdoors) that I'd rather be than right where I am now. So what if I need to endure a couple hours of mosquitoes each night? Thank you for that important reminder.
I really hope you feel better soon. I wish I could go back in time and ride when people would actually hire me and other bos were cool and hospitable like that

We all been worried about you. I figured you weren't feeling to good since you had them tests. I hope you can get out a bit each day & walk a bit. That always seems to help some. I'm hoping & praying that you can get some good news from the doctor. They can do wonders today. I just had 5 stents & it helped me bigtime. Listen to the doctors we all want you up & running the rails again very soon.

Loved the different twist on the video, it’s good to see you, you look good, better than I was expecting considering how you’ve been feeling! You’ll be back out there, glad you’re being patient. You just came off quite a whirlwind, Alaska was a big trip, and then a basically unexpected move! No real time to recoup in all of that, so here you are with a little extra recouping to have to do to make up for it. That won’t happen again… no more unexpected need to pack up everything and then unpack it! At least it was for a wonderful reason, it was a great move!!! Made me tired just watching the videos about it though… it’s so much work. So now maybe the time is right to just lay low and spend a little energy enjoying the new base camp. You’ll be back out soon!

Like many others, I enjoy hearing about your adventures. I think that kind of lifestyle is appealing to a lot of us and we have to live vicariously through you. I wish I had done some more stuff in my younger years. And I completely understand the appeal for being outdoors. I get out as often as I possibly can!

Great video - as for changing the name of your channel I think The Legend - Hobo Shoestring would work. Sometimes legends go to the doctor too. (In case of any confusion - it's a compliment) Take good care of yourself.

You are a brilliant and amazing man, Mark. Please don't let the liver issues take that away, get healed, brother. My husband got HE from hepatitis C, and didn't go for his treatments. This brilliant, funny man can now barely remember to tie his shoes 😥. I know staying home sucks, but the alternative is worse, man. If you need a day trip I'll take you RVing for a weekend. Much safer.
