Ktm 65 and ktm 85 forks are the same? I have the oportunity to buy ktm 65 forks but I thought they would be smaller. Does it work for me? thank you so much
No very different in size. My adapters just work for both as they use the same bearing sizes. The 65 forks are almost exactly same length as surron forks and same travel(8") where 85 forks are about 4" longer and have over 10" travel. Also 85 forks are thicker and weigh about 3-4lbs more than 65s
@@je7647 I wouldnt use anything less than 65s after having run them for 2yrs. No mtb fork Ive used can compare(ridden a bomber 58 as well as stock dnm and rst). My spacers are reversible so if you wanted to try its about $130 for everything to convert it($100 for the adapters and axle and boost adapters). If you will already have everything else its not a big investment to try out when it comes to surron stuff
Anything from 02-present uses the same bearings. Mine in the video are 05 so marzocchi but I have one customer who used 2021 and 2018 forks on his builds. 13-thru present are all wp but bearings are all the same. I think certain years do require grinding steering stops but that is the worst you will experience with installing
When you say headset cups, do you mean the black part thats pressed into the frame? I know there were different bearings depending on the year. These were for the latest type that use the motorcycle style tapered bearings but they might work with the cane creek or original but Id recommend the latest ones which I think luna sells replacements
@@bikeninja956 there are some on aliexpress if you need them. Ive ordered a few surron parts from ali (mainly wheel hubs) but just look at seller reviews to make sure they are good.
@@mrskywalker115 I would love to get those CAD files to get these made, I have a potential 2005 CR85 big wheel to part out. One question, will these adapters only work with KTM components?
@@roach6791 these are only for ktm parts. Some have had luck with the yz85 forks where it just bolts right up using the forks bearings but surron races. Maybe the cr85 would be the same
@@mrskywalker115 any chance you can point me to the proper fork and clamp set for these adapters? Like a link to a new or used one that I can use to shop around for?
@@Vanguard_Hawaii pretty much any 03 or newer ktm 85 forks and triple clamps would work. It would be more expensive but I'd try to find the newer AER forks(I think 17 was first year) as they will be lighter and dont need to try and find the right springs as they are air forks. The triple clamps should work from all those years that match the forks. Best bet is to find one local being parted out so you can grab the whole front end as you will want the brakes and wheel also. I wouldn't recommend my route with the 65 forks bc it takes alot of fabrication for the wheel and there limitations. A cheaper option that is bolt on would be yz85 or kx85/100 front fork too, no need for adapters

@je7647 yea and the 65 forks are way more capable than any of the mtb type forks, even ones like ext built for the light bee

I don't follow, you've only included the inside pieces, what about the actually headset cups? or are they an off the shelf component?

I probably won't but I have no problem sending the cad drawings to anyone so they can order them like I did from 3d hubs

Aluminum eh? Hello dissimilar metals, my name is galling.
I made some new sets made of stainless so no galling risk 😉
