@Fui Gebhardt1 Yes rdr1 has something very special to it. I always miss it, I always love it. It's nostalgic and it has this feeling to it that I can't describe.
Oops, I came here thinking I was gonna be seeing screenshots from RDR2 back when it was in development way before it was ever announced, or even thought of. I was clearly wrong. It's almost as if I got clickbaited or something. 🤔
There are a few images out there of both Red Dead Redemption and RDR II in early development. But there aren't many. Notably, during the early phase for the first Redemption, the town of Armadillo was pretty desolate and much more dusty. Dutch, Bill, John and Javier all had models in RDR II that more closely resembled their prior appearances, but this was changed to the newer revised models we see in the game now. Also, there's files that suggest that Arthur was originally able to traverse the blocked off territory of Blackwater and whatnot. People also believe that Mexico was originally planned as a accessible region in RDR II - however, there's nothing to back up this claim. At best, it was a scrapped concept during early development. But even more likely is that it was never intended to be accessible. People like to point out that there's some unfinished models of buildings and plants in the Mexico region - but the easy and simple answer for this is that Rockstar simply wanted that area to appear more finished from a distance, otherwise it wouldn't look right. Another interesting thing to note is that the narrative and concept for RDR II was already loosely thought up during the development of the first Redemption. They already had a prequel/sequel envisioned. Of course they likely didn't have the details set, but they had an idea for it.
I remember exploring these out of bounds area when I was a kid (using glitches.) Fun fact: If you're playing multiplayer and your friend enters the character swapper and you run out of bounds, north of blackwater I think, you can actually find them.
Yep, you could run around the tiki torches where you'd see the characters when changing. My favorite was climbing the mountain in Tall Trees or the invincibility glitch in Chuparosa.
@@rileymccreanor6492 Yeah but still, they maybe could have kept it so that players can have extra areas to explore, and they maybe could have thrown in a few side missions
The system only renders the map at a certain distance (Draw Distance) from the player and at varying Levels of Detail (LOD) depending on distance and if you are facing them directly. If anything, this would only be a waste of disc space. If they have the disc space available, it isn't really worth the effort of editing the entire map to remove an unused portion. It may have also been left in in the case the player looked at it

You also have the very first teaser for RDR2 that basically confirms this to be true. I wonder why they decided to change it. I quite liked how much more western and gritty it originally looked.
Calum Champion New Handover should’ve been less green and more dry and deserted. If you notice in the trailers, there’s a scene that shows New Handover looking kinda like Great Plains. I wish it was like that, I like the western feel better.
Calum Champion The feel in RDR1 was incredible and unique. The desert and the music was just amazing. They couldn’t recreate that in RDR2, it just felt like another game with nice country kinda like The Witcher, but it didn’t feel like Red Dead

The fact the overall landscape in RDR2 for mexico is the same, means the R* most likely straight up ported RDR1's map removed some buildings since RDR2 is in the past, and added new textures and grass, lots of grass.
This makes me wonder if we were ever supposed to have a dlc besides Undead Nightmare. Maybe before RDR2’s conception, the devs planned on making a map expansion that would coincide with a story dlc. Maybe it would’ve been a shorter version of the campaign we got that delves into the Van Der Linde gang’s past/John Marston’s backstory.
Although RDR 2 was a success and a masterpiece I still believe not having Mexico in the game made it lose some flavour. You could have missions for Landon Ricketts, The rise of Allende, young Reyes before his revolution. You could have re encountered the Nun as a John after she has her final conversation with Arthur. Great job man.. I'm working on a "History Of Red Dead" video currently that is taking me a ton of time so I know what goes into these things.. Great work!
Thank you for showing up close how the end of Flat Iron Lake looks like in the first Redemption, some other channel did this but it didn't show it up close, i'm all about out of map open world games, if i see something in the horizon, i want to go there. Now i only need to see those giant glaciers that symbolizes Oros from Far Cry Primal, up close, and i mean really up close, to the point you can almost grab them. I did that at the time, but unfortunately once i got there, already outside of that map, i couldn't reach them cause there wasn't more ground to keep up, literally. Before me there was those glacier mountains very near, but i couldn't get there any closer, instead i could just watch them floating in the sky, but it was a nice long trip through that out of bounds section till i got there. Out of bounds forever.
And people think the gta 6 pre alpha footage looks bad even though the game isn't gonna release for a few years and the gameplay shown was old. Gta 6 will look amazing. Red dead 2 pre alpha also looked bad but look at the finished product.
I would love another RDR game. Can you imagine a game where you played as Dutch or Hosea when they were first getting started? Or one where you played as Sadie after the prologue?
Red Dead Redemption ll is my favorite game of ALL time. So seeing stuff like this, always tickles my fancy. Since it launched, I've played through it 8 times, and only played one other game briefly, but then ended up missing RDR2's world, and went back to it. I haven't played it in two months, because the disc drive in my PS4 went out, and I can only play games that I buy from the PlayStation store, and have to wait to do so. Long story. But even though I was in the middle of my 9th playthrough, I miss it. There's so much that comes into play, as to why I love that game so much. The world just feels like a living, breathing, functioning, real world. The NPC's feel like real people. If Rockstar added being able to buy homes with land, and the ability to run a ranch, and businesses, like owning your own saloon, or general store. That'd be it for me. I'd probably never turn that game off.
What I took from this is, it got me thinking as an online player, I feel the foundation is there for an expansion dlc and zombies with the possibility of bringing this over to ps5. I wonder how they’ll expand and use the power of the next gen for red dead2
