Fantastic effort, so many people calling you on the first hill ! Followed you in on your map which was a nice addition :) Well done the pair of you, great effort - Ray MM6 RMM
@@Kanailad cheers Ray. I might use the tracker more in future. Don't know what was going on with VHF though! Worked really well on the second top. I usually work everyone from Edinburgh to Wick from Ben Avon.....
I didn't realise SOTA also encompassed VHF. Nice. Vids like this make me miss Scotland very much. Love that part of the Gorms. Don't be giving away the location of the Secret Howff now! 😉
@@newsles2 SOTA can be any frequency, any mode. The only thing g not allowed is use of repeaters, unless they are a satellite. Glad you enjoyed the vid! We did pass the secret howff location but didn't have time to go up for a look. There's always next time!
@johnsonstechworld well I've always climbed hills and I've had a license for 16 years. Combining hills and amateur radio has been a fantastic experience for me and I've not looked back!! 73, Fraser MM0EFI
Nice adventure and scenery. Wanted to let you know i stopped by Oregon Trails Ruts Historical Site in WY last month and activated it. (US-6114) Probably sat at the same picnic table as you. I also activated a SOTA Peak for its first activation in Rawlins WY and a Park in the middle of no where WY for the first time; videos are in the queue for both. Bob / KU3C
@@BobBroeking excellent! I really enjoyed the Oregon trail ruts, and also the interpretive centre in Casper. A great insight into the history of the migration. Look forward to your videos! 73, Fraser MM0EFI
Excellent stuff Fraser! My kinda stuff!! Once I saw the big green tent I spent the whole rest of the video trying to figure out where the hell ye had it hidden between the two bags!!! What tent was it and where was it the whole time? 😅
@@IrishHamRadio Hey Dave! The tent is a Wild Country. I bought one with an extended porch, so great for keeping gear dry and cooking inside. I don’t think they make that model now. Struan had the outer and the pegs. I had the inner and the poles. About 1kg each to carry. I had a 28 litre pack and it all fitted in. I also had my kx2 and an antenna in there as a back up.
@@n4jaw thanks! That trip we saw red deer, red kite (bird of prey), mountain hares, frogs, newts and various grouse and other smaller mountain birds. Occasionally I'll see a golden eagle or white tailed eagle. In warmer weather, I've seen an Adder there, which is a type of viper.
Excellent outing, enjoyed the scenery and contacts!
Glad you enjoyed it! We did too. I now have a trainee cameraman and a broken camera!
Well done, Fraser & Struan 😊.
@@maureenwenseth8016 thank you for being our taxi!
Good video and stunning scenery. You did well to get enough QSO's to qualify them both. Struan has the right idea with the goody bag 😁
