I love when Big Dee Dee and Phyllis go at each other. Sophisticated shade of the 2000s. It was a mixture of Martin vs Pam and Dominique Deveraux VS Alexis Colby.
Same. Def one of the highlights of the show. It made their sensitive, understanding and poignant moments that shared much more powerful because of that.
As a matter of fact, there is one on UA-cam. It was a video done by comedy hype talking about the black sitcoms on UPN and what happened to them. It's no longer than 25 minutes but it's packed with great information. I highly recommend you watch that video.
Exactly, good TV is no longer a thing especially when it comes to Black TV Sitcoms that paint us in a positive light. These networks ONLY want to see us acting a fool per usual.
Half & half was a good show and underrated. I definitely remember the episode where TC Carson and Erika Alexander reprise their Living Single characters Kyle Barker and Maxine Shaw along with the reveal of their daughter.

Maxine and Kyle was together with their daughter and Kyle was a co-star with big Dee Dee for a movie while Dee Dee idolizes Maxine as she was studying her cases when she was in law school and Dee Dee wanted to meet her. The creator of Living Single was involved with half & half, so that explains the continuity with having Kyle Barker and Maxine Shaw together. No one knew they had a daughter until that episode.
I was frickin GUTTED when this show was canceled. 😔 The chemistry of the entire cast was off-the-charts, but my faves HAD to be any and ALL of Phyllis and Big DeeDee's interactions. 😂😂😂 Never a dull moment when those two were on screen, I swear. Lol!
Half & Half was one of my FAVORITE UPN shows. Essence Atkins and Rachel True are so TALENTED! They've barely aged to this day too. Rachel had me at The Craft. Love that movie. ❤

Since Netflix picked up some of these incomplete shows, there's nothing stopping them from greenlighting one or two seasons to wrap them up. For example, _Girlfriends_ exec producers Mara Brock Akil and Kelsey Grammer have said for years that they're open to a revival.
Girlfriends I heard Mara I believe was the holdout or whoever has the rights all the ladies and Reggie who played William were all on board for a reboot/continuation

Living Single ended the moment Kyle left and Martin just was ridiculous to watch in that final season where Gina's gone. The last episode was such a joke.

I watched the episode where Mona makes her love interest selection. I did not realize it was the last episode of the series. I spent a couple of weeks looking for the next episode. Now, you have cleared up for me that there is no next episode.
Rachel True called it out completely. They do that to most black shows(female or male) before thwy get to the hundred episode mark, because they would have to pay the black actors more at that point. But they will let a corny white show rum forever. Ladies please understand, yall get the BS too!
The casting was superb! My mother always said that the mothers and daughters could have been actually family in real life. And the acting was phenomenal!

This was my top 5 shows growing up. But I always found it funny that the attic apartment is not same apartment Dee Dee moved into. She moved into the apartment over Mona instead of the one on the right side. 😂
Exactly, and Dee Dee's apt was huge compared to that empty little studio apt that Mona saw. The show's set designer really nailed the apts to reflect the personality of each sister. Dee Dee's apt was even more beautiful than the small space that was shown for Big Dee Dee and Charles' mansion. I like Spencer's apt, and Adam's tiny studio, both of which seemed to fit their personalities as well.
This was a really really good black show. The comedy was top-notch! All of the people in the wardrobe were beautiful. And it is a shame that when you have shows like this they just go off with no ending to them. Wishing all of the cast members the very best of luck, light and love!

I like Half & Half. The show was just like "Living Single" and "Girlfriends". But Half & Half had competition other shows like Eve One on One and All of Us on UPN. I've always had a crush on Essence Atkins and Rachel True two beautiful black women, the show also set the tone for STARZ "Run the World".
I was really disappointed in run the world ssn2. I wasn’t even sad that it was canceled. I feel like insecure did set the tone for the present girl shows
Fun fact: Sumner Redstone & Les Moonves were responsible for the UPN/WB merger into the CW. Moonves is the same man who was after Janet Jackson after her infamous wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Superbowl halftime show, hellbent on trying to destroy her career.
But didn't karma get him of serious allegations he was doing and he had to step down at President of CBS production his wife stayed at the company due to her doing big brother Julie moonves.
CW literally said we have room for ONE night of Black sitcoms (4 shows). UPN was bulit on the back of Black Shows. I guess it is rumor since it wasn't in the video, but Half & Half was supposed to go to the CW for its 5th season. All Of Us was canceled. However, Chris Rock made a call threatening to end Everyone Hates Chris if All Of Us wasn't renewed. (His brother was on the All Of Us cast.) So Half & Half got the boot. I swear I thought this was public knowledge, but I guess it was a rumor.
I thought Will Smith called the network demanding All of Us is renewed. I believe thats why One on One wasnt renewed either because I keep hearing how Half n Half, Eve, and One on One was coming back.
This was such a great show. As a teen I mainly watched just to see if Mona and Spencer would finally get together, only to be hit with the Black sitcom cliffhanger curse 😖😭😭 I still think the guy she chose ended up being Spencer.
All of these black sitcoms that many of us enjoyed on UPN/CW have one thing in common... They all seemed to have abruptly disappeared with cliffhanger endings 😢. Heck, we still don't know what happened to Myles 🤔 did Joan ever get married, and what's going on with Breanna and Arnaz??? Questions that need answers
I loved this show back then and love me some Rachel True. She looked and acted like my late cousin Jackie. I still watch it in syndication today. They could do what Tyler Perry did with House of Payne and bring it back right for the fifth season, just years later. It could work.
I enjoyed Rachel True in The Craft, which did influence my decision to give Half & Half a try. I absolutely loved that show and felt it deserved better. Unfortunately, you know when people say don’t meet your heroes? Rachel was so mean to me during a past encounter, which hurt because I was a fan. But I can still appreciate how amazing Half & Half was.
Dang that sucks. I’m a fan of her as well. If you’re into astrology, she’s a Scorpio & they can definitely be moody lol. They can’t really hide if they’re having a bad day; hopefully it was that & not something personal
I always thought Rachel True was the same girl On Boy Meets World, Will’s girlfriend. I loved MC Lytle on the show as the boss as well. It was on Pluto for free.

I loved this show back then and love me some Rachel True. She looked and acted like my late cousin Jackie. I still watch it in syndication today. They could do what Tyler Perry did with House of Payne and bring it back right for the fifth season, just years later. It could work.

I enjoyed Rachel True in The Craft, which did influence my decision to give Half & Half a try. I absolutely loved that show and felt it deserved better. Unfortunately, you know when people say don’t meet your heroes? Rachel was so mean to me during a past encounter, which hurt because I was a fan. But I can still appreciate how amazing Half & Half was.
Dang that sucks. I’m a fan of her as well. If you’re into astrology, she’s a Scorpio & they can definitely be moody lol. They can’t really hide if they’re having a bad day; hopefully it was that & not something personal

I always thought Rachel True was the same girl On Boy Meets World, Will’s girlfriend. I loved MC Lytle on the show as the boss as well. It was on Pluto for free.
This was one of my FAVORITE shows and I’ll never forgive them for ending on that cliffhanger like that 😭
