I'm gonna call a spade a spade, with the exception of Homeboys In Outer Space, the majority of these shows were cut short because these TV execs don't wanna see black people in a positive light.
South Central's premise was messed up from day one. Instead of picking up where the movie left off where you have OG Bobby Johnson trying to raise his son and making it into a coming of age story, you have a neurotic single mother raising two kids and a grandson and they all scream at each other for thirty minutes.
Another honorable mention was True Colors on Fox. The show was about a newlywed interracial couple(a widowed black man and a divorced white woman) and their newly blended family, sorta like an interracial Brady Bunch. It was a good sitcom, but it ended too soon, mostly because of the tragic deaths of two of its stars: Clevon Little, who played the husband, and Nancy Walker, who played his mother-in-law.😮
