  • Today we performed a 75 mile per hour range test on our 202 Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD. This is the single motor with the Long Range Battery. We saw the temp dip to -1 degree on this drive. We find out how much the extreme cold temperatures affect the real world range.

I know you want to standardize the range tests, but I think that cabin temp of 68F is more realistic in cold weather, and I always keep my tire pressures at 42psi cold. Also if one has at home charging then a scheduled departure with cabin preheating and battery conditioning would add a fair amount of range; lower cabin temps, higher tire pressure and scheduled departure and your range would probably increase to a bit over 200 miles.

Just discovered your channel. Some very good content! I was wondering if you missed your ID.4 at all? Thinking about trading my Model 3 LFP for a 2024 Pro S AWD. Thanks!

@@turg77 the ID.4 was a great car that did everything well but nothing was the best. Just all around good

The Rolling Meadows location has 150 and 250 chargers. Did you plug into a 150 for your test?

@@MD-video-home No I was on a 250 unit. The 150’s are the bank on the west side.

    Great test
    Its 2.58 mi/kwh
Equinox ev was 1.7 with more colder weather and AWD
Considering equinox is bigger battery its similar range overall but yes equinox is not very efficient probably software update might address efficiency somewhat

2025 Tesla model Y Rwd long range with a 75 kWh battery that has a 337 mile range vs 2025 Equinox EV LT Awd with an 85 kWh battery that has a 307 mile range…….that is no contest. Model Y Rwd long range has better miles per kWh efficiency to begin with. That efficiency advantage is not going to change in colder weather as you proved. I own the exact model 2025 Equinox EV LT you tested. The lowest efficiency I’ve seen at interstate speeds was 2.0 miles per kWh at 12 degrees F in Colorado. The best I’ve seen was 3.2 miles per kWh at 70 F on the same stretch of interstate. My Equinox is way more comfortable to drive than my daughter’s model 3 but her model 3 has much better m/kwh efficiency.

IIRC. the 2025 MY RWD LR has an ~80kwh HV battery pack.

im guessing about 200miles.... just finished watchin.... it seems that if you were goin 70mph and had tires at 40psi 200 miles would have been realistic
