Good thing for Tommy that in the 30s and 40s a life sentence only meant 10 years in prison tops. The actual "Nucky" did a small stretch in prison and died of natural causes at the age of 85.
It seems like Bonny and Clyde, Francis Ford Coppola and Boardwalk Empire all had the same outlook on making interesting death scenes with interesting details that seem to harken back as far as the silent film era and continue on into westerns. This show really upped the game around it with every single death having a brilliantly creative detail that you have either never seen before or never seen done in quite the same way. They play with every single element and concept in a scene.
Boardwalk Empire should’ve Definitely been 6 seasons with everything happening in this season happening in the 6th season. Season 5 should had the Castellammarese War with Joe Masseria & Salvatore Maranzano, Chicago Beer Wars between Al Capone and the Chicago Outfit and Dean O’Bannion, Hymie Weiss, Bugs Moran of the North Side Gang, The Death of Arnold Rothstien, The Death of Frankie Yale, & The introduction of Paul Ricca, Frank Nitti, & Tony Accardo.
I find show was self contradicting in many ways when one it being the implication that 'God is forgiving' yet still killed Nucky just for the sake of it, just didnt go well in my opinion. The show was crap after season 4 when they killed off Richard Harrow when he shouldve made the right hand man of nucky after all that build up to his character.
Maybe for you it was crap. I think that the show was really solid through and through but agree that the last few seasons were uneven. Especially the last abbreviated one.

I knew Van Alden was gonna die when he started choking capone and spilling all the beans. I think that was him accepting his fate and dying as an honest man, opposite of how he lived his life. He was probably the biggest liar on the show. Constantly lying out his teeth to save himself and buy more time. By season 4, he was starting to embrace both his passed and his present. At the end of his life, he accepted it all. Also, i could feel the guilt in Elis heart. He never got to apologize for what happened.

those are two amazing shows in their own right...since they were all "A" material ill call it a 3 way tie for best shows in their genres. all three were amazing.

I really wish boardwalk empire didn't do a time skip in season 5. if they hadn't skipped they could have done dutch Schultz. which would make sense considering what a cinematic legacy Schultz has. and he's suspected of killing Arnold Rothstein. and through Schultz, they could have done Legs Diamond, Vincent col, Bumpy Johnson. and since Bumpy Johnson is in Harlem they could have squared him off against Dr. Narcisse as well. so much missed potential.
could also have done Mayer Lansky doing work for the Governments shutting down Nazi Rallies. establishing Lansky as having government connections would go some way to explaining how he and charlie went from nobodies to the most powerful syndicate in the country between seasons.

I don't why but can't find a single decent video about Boardwalk Empire deaths, they either have a stupid song in the background or miss deaths and scenes or were recorded using a rag on a stick in a resolution of 144p; did a gypsy put a course in this show and now nobody can make a decent video of a compilation of the deathsw in this show or what? BTW, this show really liked killing its character by shooting them in the head with their own guns: when Bugsy forced the gun of a guy sent to kidnap him to his own head, the guy Richard killed trying to make it look like a suicide, when Richard was struggling with one of Gyp's men and managed to force a gun to his chin, when Chalky forced the shotgun of the prison guard to his own face, when Chalky forced the gun of a prison guard to his own head and I'm sure I'm missing others.

As a man that's had bipolar depression for all of his life and that's felt that despair before and have almost made this terrible, uncorrectable mistake a few times...even if its a TV show, I can't help but have compassion for someone depicting such an enormity of pain. Especially if they are religious. That person is literally saying, eternity in hell is an upgrade from the pain i feel right now. People have their flaws and make their mistakes, but as a human being-how can you not feel for a guy or girl that feels that way. I think the only 2 self deletions that I didn't feel an ounce of compassion for were Hitler and Jim Jones, but then again as a person with BPD I am not looking to watch nor hear off someone taking their life if i can help it. Which makes me feel a little guilty at times especially knowing we all just want to be heard and felt. But I know what i can handle,and when i can handle it, and when i can not. So when i can not, i do not. But a lot of the ppl in the show are depictions of people who were real and died the same ways as depicted. Smh, everyone hurts. Even the devil.
I liked him as Animal Blundetto in Sopranos. He just didn't fit as the boss type. I think he's an awesome actor, but I agree I think he didn't carry the role as well as it could have been. I think the writing for the character should have been more Rothstein-like
